Said he was meeting the md to talk about his contract and then asked the lads how much they were on.

    He's too old for 2fm

Radio 1 have no space for him.

If he was to go, who'd take over? Paula Mc?

Jesus I hope not, all we would hear about was "Ado" and her fecking wedding.

As I've said before, there is an obvious place for him to go on Radio 1, the Ronan Collins slot

Probably some celebrity who knows nothing about radio or music

    To do what though?

He's a lovely guy, but what would he add to / do with that hour?

I'm no fan of Ronan's music... what would Ian play there. If they got rid of Tubs, and put Sean O'Rourke on an hour earlier, I'd love to see John Creedon get his hands on that time slot.

He wouldn't really add much, except play more Bowie than showbands. As Collins is in his mid 60s, I can see RTE wanting a younger presenter for the sake of it.

Agreed, it would be the radios version of loose women in the morning and she's too inexperienced..id think they'd try Alison "I have a kid don't you know" Curtis but she's too bland...Maybe Tommy Tiernan or a big name ...but the big name at lunch is dreadful, id shudder to think who'd get it , hector maybe

I wonder what age is Radio 1's average listener these days? Maybe it is time to move Ronan Collins and his showband records elsewhere?

Wonder is Cooper's time on Today FM coming to an end? His show sticks out amidst the endless rubbish during the day.

It depends what the station's remit is. There may be a stipulation that they have to have a certain amount of talk-based content.

I agree - it is starting to stand out amidst all the rubbish. I hope it isn't axed though because it is a show I enjoy. If it moved to Newstalk I'd be OK with that but I can't see that happening .

I think Ian said his contract is up in September

It was very odd for him to mention it, in passing, at the end of the show.

I Could see Cooper being replaced by Gavin his sub and try go for a youth orientated Last work

Yea...I agree. I thought it really inappropriate and I think both Dermot and Dave felt really awkward.

Jesus if Ian Dempsey is sick of the the place then the new chief is achieving his goal of making a dumpster fire of todayfm. But maybe Ian said them to get the CEOs attention to maybe just turn the ship around.

Just spotted that Ian and Mario will be appearing on The Ray Darcy show tonight.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 613 ✭✭✭The Parish Priest.

Ian and Mario will be on Ray Darcy tonight to talk about their future according to Will Leahy a few minutes ago... announcing a move to RTE perhaps ?

Doubt it, think they are flogging the live gift grub shows. Remember Ian mentioning something about it on the show weeks ago

Yeah a fairly hefty cut, Ian is the producer for the live shows

Well I have taken the plunge and ordered the CD I won online. I fully intend to tweet P MC and Today FM with a picture of my CD when it arrives!!!! I always intended to buy it and was delighted when I won it but seeing as it was last July it will hardly arrive now!!!
same happened me around just over a year ago on the p mcl show, a vinyl album too!!

When you tweet them tag 2fm and a few other stations and they'll most likely all offer a few other cds... is it Paul or Paula you won off?

Reilly is a tabloid hack, having done his apprenticeship at the bastion of quality journalism that is thejournal.ie

It was Paul McLoone I won it from, I was dancing round the kitchen with excitement when I heard my name then sob sob it never arrived!!!! It was shortly after I was at the Neil Young and Promise of the Real concert too!! What annoyed me most was that I would have bought it months ago had I not listened to them, as every time I rang they said oh it is ordered and will be with you in a week or two.

That's desperately unfair. Gavan Reilly is about as far from a tabloid journalist as they come these days. It's true he used to work for the journal and the journal is a pile of shoite but it doesn't follow that Reilly is at that level. If he was, he'd still be there.

Imo, he's at the very least a capable deputy for Cooper but as time goes by, cooper's personal biases and the imbalance of his show make me lean towards Reilly as my preferred option for that slot.

I'd put Al Porter into the Last Word
    imagine the carnage

Oh Al Porter doing the Last Word... Maybe they will do a shuffle again like they did last year where all the presenters swapped programmes... The music shows were grand, but didn't Ian do The Last Word... Yeh put Al Porter in there and have it on a Monday with Kimmage on 😯

Don't have the emails as it was all phone calls they called me the day after to confirm address, and I called them a good few times to inquire. Not expecting to get any freebies though I did think it bad form that P. McC and team didn't send out another CD in its place if they didn't have it.
