Just logged in to say that after a few sub par contributions from US Murph, I thought he was hysterical today. Was nearly wetting myself at his reaction to McDevitt confidently proclaiming him to be a USC alumni, only for US Murph to react with incredulity. His Foggy Dew "Jew who is slow on the up take" was very good today. Great entertainment

I haven't heard that part yet, but that is not the first time Eoin has f*cked up and said US Murph went to the wrong College. Eejit, I'd say he was embarrassed. :)

Fairly sure that that was an intentional 'mistake'

Interesting the only incident that Kerr couldn't recall from his entire life in football was a goal that Richie scored...

Players Chair with Kerr was good. The FAI really are a horrible organization.

My mate was a physio on an Ireland youth team a few years ago. They were playing in an international tournament somewhere, he said loads of FAI officials came and didn't even attend a game, most didn't even know who we were playing. Just over for the free holiday. Absolute joke, it's like a mini fifa run with our country and Delaney is Blatter but we have no ethics committee.

Just listening to the London pods now. One point, there was a jokey ad for the hotel they stayed I'm. I seem to recall they said that there'd be no ads as part of the world service? I did always assume that trips would be sponsored though...

I signed up there last month. Glad I did, a little too much rugby for my liking but I suppose that's to be expected given the time of year. Enjoying the more frequent podcasts, although the 4chan one was forgettable. Feel sorry for a girl who has studied that particular board for a thesis, I'm sure it was an eye-opener.

Anyway quick question, I was expecting a membership pack or something in the post.. Should I keep waiting or did I misread the website?

Yeah, i got mine last week. Little SC badge and a letter and stuff.

Not quite relevant here, but I left it beside the tv and yesterday the dog decided to take it and tear it up. (Not the badge, that was on a different shelf).

Doyle hotels and Aer Lingus were mentioned on the SC twitter, so assume they sponsored the jaunt to London.

In the same boat too. Just heard in the London pod where they asked for a show of hands of those that have got their welcome packs, the joke being that they're working on them but they're way behind with Ken's artwork. I blame David Luiz ðŸ˜

Got mine last week, I got Devin Toner. Was one of the very early subscribers as I was off work that Monday, I'd say they're doing them in order though can't be sure. There's a 20% discount off it as well and a letter that looks like it's been handwritten so lot of work in it.

I also got mine last week. Letter was typed but signed. I got Roy Keane, which is nice as a Cork man...

I actually meant to say signed not handwritten. Mine is typed as well.

    Gabrielle Marcotti...bleurghh...

Glendinning too, can't stand either of them. Poor enough show, but I'm no fan of the live shows in general.

I actually agreed with Craig Burley in the clip they played of him arguing with Marcotti, with the intention of taking the piss out of Burley.

You could tell Barry had several pints in him, talks a few octaves higher as a result.

Same here, Burley is correct in the main.

Marcotti sums every possible negative personality trait - arrogance, ignorance and an unwarranted smugness.

Why do these live shows always feel like the comedy is really rammed down your throat? I suppose it's all part of playing up to a large crowd who are enjoying the refreshments, and most of the good stuff probably isn't broadcastable. Guess you have to be there as it is usually a far inferior podcast to their usual output. I've found this to be the case for a range of different podcasts so this isn't a critical of Second Captains.

Stopped listening to the guardian because of Glendenning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,659 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

I was at a live show (Cork last year). It came across great while there, but the audio podcast was a bit Meh.

They have 2 options with the live show, either make great pod, which is going to be a little Meh for the crowd, or make a great show, which is going to be a little Meh for the audience.

Not a big of Barry anymore allright he can be a bit much. Think Marcotti is interesting enough guy though I do get the arrogant vibe he gives off. Out of interest why do you agree with Burley? I'm not sure of the context but I think all Marcotti was trying to say with the XG stat is that they were extremely unlucky and that on another day they would have won the match. Bleating on about the result being the only thing matters is grand but there is a bigger picture. A team dominating a game and losing 1-0 to a counter attack is not the same as a team losing 1-0 and playing badly. That was my understanding of what Gab was trying to say using the XG stat to back it up?

I'm not a big stats fan at all but I do find the XG stuff very interesting. Especially after a game.

Has had the same old schtick for years now. Takes the contrarian viewpoint on everything just for the sake of it. He's the same on Twitter.

I haven't listened to the show, but I like both glendenning and marcotti. Although, marcotti does come across as a bit of a prick

The live shows make for sub standard podcasts, particularly when you have Ken talking about a video that the live crowd can see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,659 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

The football podcast was dull, but football is a dull sport, so no surprises there..

Damien Delaney conversation was very interesting, well worth the listen.

Shane Horgan was Shane Horgan, you either like him or hate him.

Neil Back came across as a right prick though, it was like he couldn't read the crowd or anything. Not sure how it felt if you were in the crowd, but didn't make for good listening...

Damien Delaney was interesting about his own career but I don't think he watches much of Ireland if he thinks there is not much difference between MoN's and Trap's approaches to tactics/management.

Was enjoying the live football podcast from London but then it just stopped abruptly.
