The full season will appear as soon as it finishes airing on SyFy. Not necessarily a bad thing - it's not very episodic and will suit more of a binge-watch.

Ahh perfect. I was just concerned they'd lost it for Ireland or something. I'm happier to binge on it tbh. :)

    Trust

FX’s Getty Anthology Series from Danny Boyle Set for January 2018 Debut
The story centers on John Paul Getty III, heir to the Getty oil fortune. The first season takes place in 1973, when the young Getty is kidnapped in Rome and his mafia captors are banking on a multi-million dollar ransom. But the tale soon turns into a nightmare ordeal at the hands of kidnappers who cannot understand why nobody seems to want their captive back: The Italian police think it’s a prank and decline to investigate. Paul’s father is lost in a heroin daze in London and refuses to answer the phone. Paul’s grandfather — possibly the richest man in the world — is marooned in a Tudor mansion in the English countryside surrounded by five mistresses and a pet lion. He’s busy. Only Paul’s mother is left to negotiate with increasingly desperate kidnappers. Problem is, she’s broke.

    The Resident

VanCamp will play Nicolette (aka Nic), the nurse who is Conrad's (Matt Czuchry) on-again/off-again romantic fling. She is repped by UTA, Thruline Entertainment and Ziffren Brittenham.

The Resident hails from writer Amy Holden Jones (Mystic Pizza) and Hayley Schore, who will executive produce alongside Roshan Sethi, Oly Obst, Antoine Fuqua and Phillip Noyce, with the latter set to direct the 20th Century Fox Television pilot.

Outside of the salaries it's probably dirt cheap to make and they have the right demographics in place. I'd imagine they get a nice few bob in product placement as well, I know I always want to go out to buy an Alienware laptop when I see it.

No I get that, my comment was more related to how unfunny the show is.

Taking salaries into account, it could be one of the most expensive shows on TV right now. :)

I remember looking at the numbers before - it is cheap to make other than salaries, but IIRC the studio breaks even on one international distribution deal and syndication... and I mean one territory, not even all international distribution and syndication.

Taking syndication, grants, no set builds into account I'd imagine it'd be 1 of the cheapest shows on TV, ffs they don't even have a full stairs, they just go up/down the same set and change the backgroup/lift warnings.

On that note, is there any middle ground in the range of in US comedy shows? It seems to be either mainstream network fare - live audience, annoying characters and HBO type stuff at the other end of the spectrum.

Well there are the sitcoms, but then we have shows like Psych, Pushing Daisies or Galavant. So there are different types of comedy. And then there are dramedies, which I guess Ally McBeal would fall under. I know they're not the most recent examples, but I don't watch many comedies.

Stuff like New Girl, Trial & Error and The Detour are all network shows with no laugh track and are very funny.
