No distress call ?. Maybe it was a instant mechanical fail. Thoughts with all involved and those out searching. It has been a tough year for the coast guard

Any idea what sort of flying time the S92s have on a full tank?

    Maximum speed: 165 knots (190 mph, 306 km/h)
    Cruise speed: 151 kn, 174 mph (280 km/h)
    Range: 539 nmi (999 km)

Completely tragic for all involved, they are such a close unit, hoping for the best

I remember the similar event in tramore waterford back in the early 90's.

I've nothing but admiration for these tireless heroes. Very sad altogether.
Thoughts are with their families friends and colleagues.

Has there been an official announcement about the status of the casualties yet?
Until there is, I think expressions of "RIP" etc are a little bit premature.

One person is currently alive and in Hospital. So no survivors would be incorrect. What is your source? These guys have everything the need to be somewhere out there just waiting to be rescued.

BBC said one crew recovered in critical condition, but not expected to survive.

Would like to think it's still a search and rescue, as opposed to a search and recovery.

From what I know you need a doctor to declare somebody dead. A emt wouldn't make the call in a helicopter at 190knots.

They are in the water along time now...
