My edge has developed a fault. It has that thin pink line on the right side of screen that goes from to to bottom. It disappears sometimes but it's there 90% of the time.

Should I go straight to Samsung or do I have to go via the service provider? Still in contract. Which is easier/faster? Can I even go straight to Samsung at all?

I'm convinced some app has gone rogue, but it's so difficult to nail down. Hopefully a factory reset will help.

Did a reset and that has resolved the issue. 16 hours on battery only 50% down.

I lost my s7 in Thailand. How do I go about minimising any security risks?

Change your google password straight away.

If you had Facebook, change your Facebook password.
If you had Dropbox, change your Dropbox password.
If you had Twitter.... etc. etc.

Check Android Device Manager on the web. If you have it set up, you can remotely wipe the phone.

Mine also developed a fault and I rang the mobile provider shop, they told me I had two options, go to the samsung repair centre with it or bring it back to them to send away. I took it back to them and they sent it away, took about a week. Fonfix did the repair, working fine since. That was early January. I was in contract like you too.

Getting approx 30 hours, 8 of that would be idle when asleep but the rest would be low to medium usage.

I honestly don't understand how people get usage like that.

From fully charged in the morning. Approx 45 mins reading news on train and maybe listening to Spotify.

Phone aside in deal drawer. Maybe 2/3 short calls. WhatsApp.

I'd be on 30/40% by 3pm. I'd be dead by 6pm if I didn't charge it up again.

Took mine off charge at about 11 pm last night. An hour of browsing then sleep for 9 hours. Moderate usage, browsing, facebook, few calls and texts and it's now at 74%. Pretty decent.

Neither before nor after the update have I ever had battery life like that.

Sorry, that should have been 71% but still decent. That's with the normal Wi-Fi, mobile data, location, etc on.

I find that having location on absolutely devours my battery. Phone is generally ok in standby but battery goes pretty quick when in use. Also drains really fast when in poor coverage, which with Three, is most of the time!

This is a screenshot of my battery usage and what's using what. This is on the higher side of what I'd usually get from the battery but I get a days use easily.

Are you on a custom ROM?

No, the phone is as it came from a Samsung store with the Nougat update.

    Cool looking theme though

I bought mine from Asia, so no update yet. Might be another few months by the sounds of things.

    Hi,

Anyone know of any good deals for the Samsung S7 Edge (sim free) at the moment? Looking to buy it as a gift.

    Thanks

You might want to wait till the S8 comes out, the prices may drop a bit by then.

Are you on an s7 or s7 edge. I'm on nougat, no funny business and I'm getting like decent time. But nothing like yours. Handset is about 2 months old.

    S7 Edge.
I have Bluetooth always on and WiFi also always on.
Its a work phone so I have it polling email all the time

Phone was purchased in late December
I have just found that its better since Nougat but I have things like dark themes and auto brightness so as screen is not eating as much battery

At 51% now after 10 h 22m and screen on time of 1h 24m. Poor enough IMO.

Have had the phone since Christmas, switched from iPhone. Initially was delighted with it but now I'd advise my friends not to get one. Battery was great initially but after about 3-4 weeks, I started seeing battery life only marginally better than what I was getting on my iPhone 6.
What's actually annoyed me most is that the phone dropped from the window sill to the cistern of the toilet, which is absolutely tiny, and now I've a crack across my screen & a broken screenlight covering 2/3 of the phone screen & a slowly increasing blob of dead pixels. I imagine it's because the phone has no bezel but absolutely no phone, not least one approaching nearly a grand should be so damaged from such an innocuous small fall.

    Yes, it's the phones fault

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,935 ✭✭✭Anita Blow

Yeah that's what I said

Of course the fall was my fault. But I'd imagine no reasonable individual would expect their phone to be in such bad knick after a single one foot drop.

The lack of a bezel & a curved screen means that there's no protection if the phone drops even a short distance on its side or flat on it's face. The screen takes the full force of the fall rather than the frame.

My sister smashed her iPhone screen with little more than a 1 foot drop. It's just unlucky. Generally it's not a good idea to drop expensive phones.
