we are going to be making plans to mark the 40th anniversary of Marys disappearance in March, I am waiting to chat to the cold case and give my opinions on what happened and why I think that... for what that will be worth

Sinn Fein are trying to get a bill thru the dail in honour of Mary that will mean that after a certain time of someone being missing there has to be an inquest on what happened to them, hopefully that gets passed through

Im still keeping the facebook page going and still putting pressure on whoever i can but the camp is sadly split these days and there is no communication between me and the journalist who made the documentary, I am working with a different journalist who can hopefully find an angle on this to go more mainstream. Gemma did great work getting the documentary out but she has proven so divisive since that I wish she would leave the campaigning down to the people and to those of us in the family that care about Mary and are actively trying to get somewhere

Any suggestions on where we go next is welcome .

Wasn't the original Garda review into the case supposed to have been finished by now?

    It began in 2011.

Is it going to go on forever?

It's now 2017 - its not a question you can answer but you know where I'm coming from :)

Anything from the Garda ombudsman on anything that was complained about?

Again if you're dealing with Gardai ask them why it's not being treated as a murder case.

Get an explanation in writing, if such an explanation is refused, forward a complaint to GSOC on the grounds that all avenues of investigation are not being investigated.

    This is essential.
If you don't have details on the current review and how the investigation is going then this will be used to fob off any other questions.

The Gardai's "missing person" position and ensuing "investigation" has generated nothing in 40 years.

I'd love to know how they defend maintaining this position, the waste of resources spent on it and the spectacular lack of progress.

thank you very much I will ask all of these

they were meant to meet me at the start of December but they left me a voicemail the other day saying it will now be the end of January as they are "behind on the Mary Boyle case" and they hadn't been in touch due to a family bereavement at the beginning of December, which was in Scotland so I don't know how they know about that

http://www.primebling.com/the-mary-boyle-letters-that-were-read-out-at-the-peoples-protest-in-dublin-city-ireland/ some typos there , the main one being that I asked for an Internal investigation not an International one :)

    A video of it

OB there is no such thing as an "internal investigation".

Picture it, say if MM was to ask the "longest serving councillor" if he interfered in the investigation, and the "longest serving councillor" says no?

    What then?

    End of story.

The "longest serving councillor" has already publicly stated that he had no involvement.

Sorry to be blunt about it :) but that's the reality.

Don't expect anything back from FF in this.

They're not going to be seen to entertain what is essentially a rumour and would quite legitimately say that it is a matter for an Garda Siochana to investigate.

Remember AFAIK (unless you've got something that hasn't been broadcast) there was no actual name mentioned.

There was innuendo and there were allegations of clever editing.

If you have got something that hasn't been broadcast, specifically a lead detective naming the alleged individual who allegedly interfered in the investigation talk to a solicitor.

Talking about FF and Michael Martin only perpetuates the political football thing, when in reality, with the line of investigation that remains based around M getting lost and remaining a missing person, it can never be said that this case was thoroughly investigated or investigated properly.

That is where I would be focusing priorities.

What is preventing the review team of the Gardai from deeming this a possible murder case as opposed to insisting it is a simple vanishing persons case?

Get a written answer for that from the review team.

    That's a good idea, imo.

It is the only avenue open that I can see.

But it must be a written response.

Then, even if it's a point blank refusal to outline any reasons (which may well be legitimate) there is something physical there that he can scan and post up here, and forward to other media outlets.

That and the "imminent" report that must surely be due any minute now from one of the Garda teams reviewing the 40 year Garda investigation.

Im trying to organise a March for Justice for Mary and other families of victims on the 20th of March, it will be 40 years and 2 days that day since Mary went missing, I picked that day so that we aren't marching to empty buildings, hope some of you can make it

Of course you didn't get a reply from him, only the mother's side of the story has been wanted from RTE and the establishment for 40 years.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a response.

    It's too late now.

Watch the program and if it contains the same 40 year old story with no references to the two ex gardai making claims elsewhere, consider having a complaint to the BAI drawn up on the basis of the program presenting just one possible scenario and ignoring the recent concerns of other family members and ex gardai in the context of the program failing to meet any requirements for balanced reporting.

It's function is to ensure the public interest is served by public broadcasting.

But maybe we are jumping the gun, maybe the programme will indeed cover Margo's media campaign and carry excerpts from Gemma O Doherty's documentary and report on the recent tabloid front page exlusive news story of the fisherman claiming to have told gardai he saw Mary being driven away on the day in a VW beetle.

Unfortunately, I would agree. RTE have had numerous chances to cover this story.

I watched the programme as it was reported they had new evidence.

I didn't see anything. A lot of stuff not mentioned.

If that guard is so sure he had the culprit in his interview room, why is the gardai not interviewing that man again now, if they are serious about this case?

Were 'the footprints of a child' the new evidence?

I've just spoke to my mother a woman of the same age as Mrs Boyle and who would have grown up in a similarly rural remote desolate place.
She says that Mrs Boyle is lying when she says that"daddy" said to her twice when she was washing up to "keep an eye on the children".
That absolutely never happened. He never said that. It would never have occurred to that man that those children needed to be checked on. Not that day in that house and not ever.
    So why does she lie?

and the sweet wrapper at the road? i've followed this story for a long long time but i don't recall these mention previously. (i could be, and probably am, wrong) I'm now watching it on the +1 channel because i want to hear the bit with Tosh Lavery again.

I think Mrs Boyle has invented a set of footprints and a sweet wrapper to bring little Mary nearer to that road.
And away from the house and the family.

If her sister in law found a sweet wrapper why didn't she
    1. Retrieve it and bring it to the Gardai
    2. Bring a Garda to it.

Sure she said back in 99 that she thinks Mary might have walked up to northern Ireland to look at some toys

Did she say someone wrote to her at Xmas pretending to be Mary?
    Why was she so upset?
Surely if she believes Mary is alive, she should have been straight to gardai with it?
