Googled it: Talamh an Éisc = Land of Fish?

I think directly translated that would be "Floor of the fish"... honestly never heard of it before though. Interesting question :)

    Newfoundland?

    Correct.

    As an aside:
    New York - York
    New England - England
    New Mexico - Mexico

Newfoundland - Where is Foundland? :)

An Airgintín in Irish I believe.

I once blathered in Irish with a Connemara girl and when I mentioned "an Airgintín" she hadn't a clue until I said "Argentina." I reckon she and many of her Gaeltacht contemporaries would know it mainly from watching soccer on television, and the commentary wouldn't be in Irish.

I need to think of a question. If anyone has one to hand feel free to go with it.

I came across the Wolof people in a couple of countries but will opt for Senegal.

Like to narrow it down? Africa is the second largest continent and has more countries than any other.

I've never heard of it. I wonder is it a makey-uppey word meaning African French? Therefore French as spoken in former French colonies in Africa.

It's spoken by the frafra or farefare peoples.

    That's it.

This question is probably too easy but its one I found absolutely fascinating when I read it and it continues the language theme:

Which country's language has remained (largely) unchanged since Norse times? (Meaning that 1000+ year old text is still readable)

    Would that be Iceland?

It would indeed. Far too easy a question :)

They are only easy if you know the answer. :)

On to a motor racing question. Who is the youngest F1 driver to start a race?

    Jacques Villeneuve?

Mind you, I'd be shocked if I got it right...

Complete guess but Lewis Hamilton? (I know nothing about this sport other than his name :D )

Neither of the above. (Neither of the above even appear in the top 10 :))
To narrow the field a bit he is a current driver.

I'm going to guess Fernando Alonso. I remember him being a young buck when he started in the early noughties for Minardi I think it was.

    :D

    Alright then...

In our solar system which two planets rotate clockwise?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,807 ✭✭✭✭Orion

Venus and Uranus. However Uranus' axis is just over 90 degrees so it could be considered to rotate either way depending on perspective.

What's the next letter in this sequence?

    OTTFFSSE
