Buyer on Donedeal very anxious to get PayPal address

Wondering if any scams going around about this? Buyer doesn't seem to care about the shipping price or PayPal fees just keeps banging on about getting my PayPal address to send money to

Any known scams doing the rounds?

There area always scams involving Paypal and Donedeal. This is a 100% scam.

How though? I get the money in PayPal and withdraw it so what happens then??

They pay you the money by Paypal.

You ship the item.

They get item.

They contact Paypal, say that they never received the item.

They have both their money, and your item.

It does sound suspicious, vicwatson. El Tarangu lays it out perfectly how they do it. Even if you have a signed for delivery, they'll say there was nothing in it. PayPal will normally side with the buyer.

Sold an iPhone 7 for €720 of chip paper, face to face. Realised too late it was fake.

What? and PayPal come back to seller and demand the money back if you've already withdrawn it to your back account??

Yes they do , you have been advised of what the scam is. You also have the right to ignore the advice. Cash is king just make sure it's real.

Correct. Paypal tends to always believe the buyer. From what you describe it sounds very much like a scam.

Your account goes into a negative balance and they will have a collections team ring you a few times before sending it to a third party debt collector

I think you need to read up on PayPal's T&C's.

No they are not allowed to use any bank account or card without the users authorisation

Look there are always going to be people out there trying to scam you no matter what kind of payment you use but overall the majority of transactions go off without a hitch and imho paypal is one of the safest ways to do business I mean all the guy can do is say he never got the parcel, how many times can he do that without paypal copping on, send it by registered post for extra security. but in the end its down to you, if you have a bad feeling about this guy then dont do business with him, most of the time our instincts are right.

Looks to me that someone wants to get one of their buddies to send them money "for an item for sale" then move that money to their bank account. Then get the buddy to say they never received item and get their money back from PayPal.

vicwatson, let me guess, they didn't even try and bargain you down? You mention shipping fee, where is the buyer based? Please don't say Nigeria.

Is the email address you're contacting him by the same as your PayPal? Just tell him to send the fees there. When you get an email from 'PayPal', DO NOT click on any links in it but have a look at the sender's address and I don't just mean how it looks in the address bar. Look at the header information.

Put the mouse cursor over any link but don't click on it. See if it matches the link text.

Then, separately (not through a link in the email), log into your PayPal and see if the money is there. My guess is it won't be or will be marked as pending.

Come back here again then before sending any item.

No bargaining down

Says they are based in Sligo, wants the goods shipped to Gloucester to his son !

Have only been in contact via messaging service on donedeal, asked for the destination address and they made an excuse that donedeal wont allow him send the destination address (even via their messaging service

), that he keeps being warned by donedeal (dont know why !!) but he then proceeded to give me an email address and if i email them they will email me the destination address.

Ive gone back and told him that I want cash now anyway and asked if that was ok with him that we didn't use paypal, no reply as of yet, surprise surprise

This. They normally don't send any money to your paypal at all. They just send a fairly convincing email to your PayPal address saying that they've paid you.

Op its a scam.

You have been told. String them along but do not deal.

So buyer is in one place but wants shipped elsewhere.

Have they come up with the we will pay shipping and oh we put too much into your account we need you to send the extra back.
