I've seen countless sites say the Pro controller is much better. IGN(Jose), GoNintendo(RMC), The Verge, Kotaku, etc. I was only reading a review from Kotaku this morning and it jumped out at me. I read a lot so maybe ye don't see it or hear it

As said, I read the reports as well, and do believe there are some exceptions when the Pro controller may be more essential. I have no doubt it's a nice extra, whether in comfort or convenience terms.

However, having played it for several hours myself - which, with all due respect, I don't think you have? - IMO the reports are greatly exaggerated :) The JoyCons are perfectly serviceable in either handheld or grip form.

The stories about the screen getting scratched from inserting screen in / out of the dock are quite worrying. I havent used the dock yet but just had a go to see what the story was. Its def a very tight fit and I can see how it can happen even with being very careful. Bit of a silly design leaving that much room tbh...
I bought the Nintendo case yesterday that comes with a screen protector wasnt gonna use it as hate applying them but looks like im going to have to :/

Surely the logical solution is to play with the Joy Con grip first and see if it suits you and if not then get then the Pro. I've found no problems at all really and I find it comfortable actually. Of course a £70 controller is going to be the most premium solution, for that price it would want to be, but it's not essential for me anyway, far from it. I'll pick it up sometime down the line, but if I find a game like Zelda that is button intensive and it's comfortable during use then it's certainly not essential.

Sorry I meant to acknowledge your point made further down but forgot.
To be fair to Sligeach, I also saw a good few high profile places suggest the Pro was essential so was a tad concerned. Which is why I was pleasantly surprised at how capable the JoyCons are

Got paid last night. Seriously need to buy Zelda for the WiiU and not the Switch which would mean I'd need to buy a Switch. But that would involve going into the shops. And then who knows what could happen.

The joycons aren't too bad at all especially in the grip but tbh, I prefer the pro controller but that's a purely individual thing.

I'll be using them when out and about but for docked play, I'll most certainly be using the pro controller almost religiously I think.

Stop making me regret buying the pro controller instead of Bomberman or joycons/snipperclips!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 430 ✭✭LauraW7746

How do you add friends on it?
Anyone want to be my friend haha?
I have bomberman for MP so far... Mariokart will be great fun when its out! :D

    Is bomberman that bad??

I haven't got a Switch yet (Yet - MarioKart 8 Deluxe is likely to change that status), but when I do I definitely will be getting a screen protector and applying it before it gets Switched (see what I did there? I'll get my coat...) on. Even the New 3DS has managed to get tiny scratches from contact with the lower screen, and this came after several redesigns. Nintendo haven't been able to produce a contactless screen-to-surface device for years - will they ever learn? :pac:

Picked up my switch from Argos yesterday and delighted with it so far.

Loving Zelda. Only said on here a few weeks ago I haven't really played a Zelda game before but loving this.

Agree with everyone else that the joy con grip that came with the console is good but happy I got the pro controller. Definitely overpriced but it's a great controller and really comfortable to use. I like that my 2 joycons and the console itself is charging in the dock while I'm playing with the pro controller.

Handheld mode is great as well. Just brilliant being able to take the console out of the dock downstairs and being able to get another half hour of Zelda in.... in bed :D

    All in all really happy.

Anyone play Bomberman yet or dare I say it Skylanders.

Just finished playing it now. For the first few minutes, it gives a feeling of "meh, is this it??", but once you play a few stages, you'll be hooked. Well worth going for if you get a good deal on it (€38 in Argos when bought with the console). Skylanders I wouldn't even bother with, let Cex get stuck with them instead (or better still, Gameslop).

Speaking of Cex, they have two Wii U copies of Zelda, its only been two days, have people seriously managed to complete it that quickly?!

That's crazy. Could be unwanted birthday or confirmation presents. I'd have given them €50 seeing as my order is in limbo at the minute. But then Nintendo wouldn't get the money. This is one game I definitely want to have a sealed copy of for future. I already have a load of other Wii U duplicates. Xenoblade Chronicles X, Star Fox Zero, Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water, Twilight Princess, Kiby and the Rainbow Paintbrush, the list is too long.

Picked up a case in GS, as well as a eshop card.
Then picked up a 64GB micro SD in CEX for €24.

I was going to spend the card on Fast RMX but, again, owning Fast Racing Neo gives me pause.

World of Goo should be here soon, probably wait for that.
I've tried Snipperclips and I didn't enjoy it all that much :(

Were you playing it on your own or with someone else?

I was playing with myself.... again...

To be honest, and it's probably the hint of ASD, but I find playing games with others frustrating most of the time...

A game like Snipperclips is fine if two people are similarly skilled or have the temperament to learn and give learning, but some people just get p1ssed off, and it leads to arguments....

    Single player titles it is!

I would reckon the people bought the game dumped it then sold it on.

Stupid way of doing it tbh I got the lazytown version earlier in the week but I now have the game sitting proudly in my collection.

Nintendo deserve every penny they make out of this game so if anyone has pirated it and loves it go out and buy the bloody thing.

Just been playing the puyo puyo Tetris demo from the Japanese marketplace withthe missus for well over an hour, I'm tempted to just buy it and be damned with the English version.

If anyone is pondering what accessories they need, screw the pro controller and an SD card get a carry case! Mine has spend the day in the car and I'm very nervous about scratching it.
P.s my kick stand is very loose and I've felt it opening by itself a few times already.

There are very cheap but sturdy stainless steel stands for tablets available in the Asian phone shops around dublin sure there would be similar type shops everywhere, might be an alternative solution.

They are people who buy games and consoles with the aim of selling them ASAP for profit

No profit on those probably stolen (I didn't do it nobody saw me do it you can't prove anything!)

Quick question: when you go to your profile page (top left of screen with your icon) mine says I'm "offline" even tho I'm online. I can see what friends are online but just making sure I'm not doing something wrong? Does it only appear as "online" when playing a game?

Eh is it supposed to click into the dock?
I can't get it to display on TV and it feels loose
    Edit*
Never mind I see you need ac adaptor plugged in.
Little bit concerned of scratching the screen
