(jumping from Pokemon Sun to Breath of the Wild is a good two or three generation leap!)

Big open BotW environments with long grass brimming with Pokemon, Xenoblade style semi-instanced battles... It could happen! It must happen!

I played from about half 6 last night to about 1 in the morning, and I was at 22% charge. I wasn't playing without stop there though, as I don't tend to do that with portable games.

415 for the Neon console in Cex Liffey Street...

What prices are we looking at all in? I know its €329 for the console and €65 for a game. Then you're looking at the microSD card and for the pro controller people are talking about.. So realistically.. About under 600 all in?

You do not need the pro controller or the SD card right now. All you need right now is console and game, 395, just under 400. The joy con feels great to use. The space won't be an issue with only one game, and you can get memory cards much cheaper than what people were saying.

€405 for me. Console, Zelda and Fast RMX, no need for the Pro Controller at all and I have a load of MicroSD's sitting about at home.

Console and game was 385 and I've ordered a 128gb SD card for 40 quid off amazon

    €419.97 for me.

    Switch
    Zelda
Official Nintendo Case (a must buy if you want to keep that screen scratch free - comes with a screen protector too)

Had a spare micro SD card in the house but I think I'll be using that only for indie titles.

The plan: Buy Switch and Zelda, play Zelda for the day.

The rwality: Bought switch, played Zelda for 4 hours, downloaded Snipperclips demo and played with wife. Laughed so much. Bought game. Played until 1 am :D

That's my plan for later, I'm not allowed to download it until she's there so I dont get a head start or something, she wants us both to go in blind at the same time.

Decided to buy it at the end of the month with payday. Just need to resist.

I just bought one in Argos with Bomberman. Better be worth the hype! Going to grab Zelda now, hopefully it can live up to the awesomeness that is Horizon on PS4.

EDIT: Bomberman wasn't with me in Argos. I mean I bought the game in Argos.

So far I've gotten 15 minutes play, with my son playing it for hours.
That's the effect of being exhausted from a weeks work!
Maybe I'll catch an hour today... We shall see...

I paid €385 in Smyths for the console and Zelda, although I am going to shell out for a shell case today ;) That is everything you need right now, unless you want more games. Any suggestion that you need to pay €500-600 is IMO completely incorrect: you can pay that much, but by no means do you need to pay that amount.

I'm sitting on €100 designated Switch money, but already have the console, Zelda and 12 Switch...
There appears to be a purposeful delay on the Hori controller which scuppers my plans.
I'm looking at a €20 game case, maybe a 64gb micro SD... Decisions decisions....

Killarney still has 4 black Switch's available in Argos for those in the hunt for one.

I won't be taking it out of the house till I get a case, so I'll look for one day today.

€385 is expensive enough. A lot of owners easily sailed over €400.

It is, but 400 odd is a lot more palatable than 600.

Is 1-2 Switch worth the dough, though? Or will I hate it and cry, "d'oh"?

Just had a go of Snipperclips with my daughters. Cue an hour of tears, screams and frantically snipping each other into oblivion. We will never get that basketball into that hoop

Disturbingly, they went from that to wanting to cut up paper from the recycling pile. I'm doing regular finger counts and stab wound sweeps.

Edit : 1 2 switch. My kids saw a few gameplay trailers last week, and I've caught them playing the milking game and the one where you answer the phone (they shout "haboshbosh!" In their best Japanese businessman voice)
    They love the game.

    I don't own 1 2 switch.

That's the downside of a game where you font look at the screen - you don't need the game either! Just leave the joycons lying around... Best money I never spent

Bought Fast RMX this morning. It feels like a mix of F-Zero, Star Wars Ep1 Racer and Ikaruga (switching the vehicle's shield to match the boost zones).

Only played on novice and still found it very tough so far. Silky smooth framerate ala F-Zero GX.

Anybody that was had to pay the extra tenner for zelda and switch in smyths get on to their customer service mail chat and explain to them about the bundle that was cheaper they will give you the 10er back if you explain to them the bundle was cheaper to buy. Gots my 10er back now to buy the shovel knignt expansion :)

Absolutely loving it and surprised by how much I love it as a handheld. I can see myself playing it more as a portable device than docked, it just feels so good in the hand.

Likewise. I was actually quite surprised how good it feels in the hand when the joycons are also attached. Doesn't feel as bulky or awkward as it does from the outside looking in.

    Gorgeous piece of kit.

To anyone lucky enough to have gotten a Switch. Dbrand( one of the biggest skin manufacturers) have said DONT BUY A SKIN as it will damage your switch. The usual PVC covers seem to be fine.
See images and more info here.

How to Remove the Joy Con Wrist Strap if you put it on Backwards.

Easy mistake to make, here is a video to show you how to fix it.

Pretty much everywhere I've read says you need a Pro Controller. It's more comfortable, bigger buttons, the control sticks feel better and it's preferable for long play sessions. You don't need a memory card depending on what you're buying and how you're buying them. So just the console, a game(Zelda of course) and a Pro Controller. That's €330 plus €70 plus €80. That's €480.

Snipperclips looks great, that would be another €20, it's digital.

If you're using it portably then you may want a powerbank battery and a USB C charger. That could be any price but probably at least €50.
