Jaysus, you're as grumpy as George ;) Newstalk will probably give you call when Mr. Hook finally retires. Goodnight :)

The ultimate insult? Night, night.

As a neutral on the subject I find George's daily ramblings about cyclists extremely tiresome at this point - and that's as a fan of the show!

From what I observe in the mornings on the Rock Road (which seems to be one of his pet peeves) you'd have to be nuts to be travelling by bike on that stretch of road into town.

The city would benefit a lot from more bikes and less "motorcars" holding the show up but the infrastructure isn't in place for it.

You're more likely to be creased by someone on a bike than a car in NL but it's unlikely to kill you or them.

Oh Jesus. Now george on about the "great cultural marxist plot" to destroy Ireland. Can we rename high noon as high farce

George disgusted that the UN has recognised the unique ethnicity of travellers. Here is just displaying his natural and deep prejudice. George just because we make progress and advanced as a society, does not mean you personally will.lose out. It is not a threat to you George, that we are all kinder and inclusive. The science supports this special designation for travellers. Why are you and other infowars heads making war on info/science/ decency and human values.

What science? Travellers are as ethnically Irish as any of the so-called settled community.
What is the point of trying to be inclusive if the people you want to include insist that they are ethnically different without a shred of evidence to back it up.

Bond it was headline news this month. Please trust me on this and the idea that we should practice science based policy. George and the anti immigrant anti traveller heads dont like these facts. Do you really want me provide the link?

And when you say "inclusive" I think you really mean "integrate."ie, why cant.they be like us. I think it is narrow minded and mildy racist to.say we should not accomodate people in ireland if.they dont act like us.

Note I just sent show- Doubt he will even retract/apologise. His pride and all that. This is the thing with Hook/Gobbels/Infowars/Mickey Graham- easy to put out the hate and hard to retract it later.

Please George can you correct your earlier statement in light of science:

http://www.irishtimes.com/news/science/travellers-as-genetically-different-from-settled-irish-as-spanish-1.2969515

"Travellers are now as genetically different from the settled Irish as are the Spanish, he said. And if the small Traveller population is taken into account, they are still as different from the Irish as are the Scots."

Hook needs to get with the programme - Irish was never 'our' national language it was the language of of the majority population but sure the rest of us aren't proper Irish. Now more than ever with out of control immigration the Irish language is even more irrelevant and should be consigned to a heritage centre.

Just turned on the radio there, because I'm in the kitchen about to make lunch.

"Coming up next, what it's like living with a rare disease."

Coming up next, podcast time, more like.

Park your Trumpisms pal. "out of control immigration"? Really. Discussion of whether or not we try to speak Irish or not has nothing to do with Immigration. In what weird world is there a connection. Are you insane. As someone who has being a migrant and lived overseas- I actually missed the language alot- and would love to practice it more. I was never impeded by migrants as you see it. Jesus you Bots use every opportunity to spead your hate. Park it pal!

Difficult to respond to this without a site ban so I won't bother, and I'm not your 'pal'. :p

yes- well if you dont want  to engage with the substantive point- I suppose it must be tempting to go down the road of name calling. If its a ruck- then jump in :)

....guess that might have made it the national language then ... and oh and the fact that its called Irish and been around for centuries....you seem as culturally sensitive as these foreign hordes you fret about...classy

They almost exclusively recreate amongst one another and have done forever. I'm not surprised they are "genetically different" to the settled people.

The same people to decry racism at every opportunity are the ones who support this nonsense.

Who gives a damn!?

Apparently George does. We know he is not a fan of science, multiculturalism, or rights for minorities. The news must have being like the perfect storm for an old-school racist like George.

George has had the displeasure of having an illegal traveller halting site popping up beside him in Foxrock. Probably in the 50s going by his usual frame of reference.

Enough to put most people off a good portion of the travelling community for life.

As a "minority" I don't understand why people who largely look and sound like "Irish people" wish to alienate themselves further.

Don't do themselves any favours tbh.

They don't wish to alienate themselves at all. But there was a current of policy for a long time which wished to "integrate" or settle the travellers. Part of this line of thinking was the old superstition that "sure the travellers are just farmers who abandoned their land " . Ie they choose to be different and wont be like us. (Inbuilt logic that settled way of life is superior)

The thing about the ethnic designation is that it simply recognises a belief (now scientifically verified) that the travelling community have long held, probably passed down in oral tradition.

What drives George nuts is that this group has values different to his own. And we know how much George thinks his values should be Ireland's. As he said today, when he was young, his mother thought he was perfect. Explains a lot.

PODCAAAAAAST!!

Its complete click bait or whatever the equivalent is for radio.

Had to laugh at pat kennys intro to george. He talked about politicians feeling forced to have ashes on the forehead and whoever forgot going to the ashtray to do a quick job themselves:D
Think the irony was lost on george.

Why is George giving oxygen to this thick bollox? How has he not been hauled in by the Gardai for vandalism?

Without listening to the show, I'm guessing it's the guy in Cork who defaced the street-name signs. That story is a month old.

Which is roughly the same mental age as the guy who's defacing the signs!

I'm a George fan but he was bugging me on my drive to work today!.He had that nice woman in from the CSO who was giving stats and info on costs of food across Europe. He interrupted her every 5 seconds to try crack a joke or poke fun at costs etc. Leave her alone and let her deliver her piece!
Then you can rant away :)

Similar enough value system I would have thought. Deeply family orientated, conservative, religious, hatred of cyclists.

He is back on the pro trump bandwagon. He is all over the shop lately. Obama had no experience then Obamas experience doesnt count. Then Oprah has no experience despite her having same experience as trump.

Plus George has never had a bad experience in a taxi or seen a taxi behave badly on the road?

He doesnt even try to stay consistent. Its really lazy
