Has nobody an opinion on that? I for one will not be paying for these again. The Switch I thought was supposed to end this BS practise. It's certainly possible, easy in fact but the will isn't there from Nintendo.

I won't be happy if I have to pay all over again for games I've already bought on VC or eshop.
But taking a wait and see approach until there's more concrete info. Plus I'm mostly about the new games right now.

Obviously from the developer's point of view they have put the work in to port the game, and their time isn't free, but then we keep being reminded how small a user base the WiiU had: how much do they notionally stand to lose in accommodating us? For tomorrow corp I would think the safest bet would be a triple pack with incremental discounts depending on how many of them you already own, assuming HRMachine isn't already a WiiU title which I'm now starting think it was and this doesn't hold up... But basically you buy hr machine you get all 3 if you owned the other 2 on WiiU?

Doesn't actually affect me as I've only 3DS purchases on the store, it's a load of bollocks for anyone who might have already bought games 2 or 3 times.

Were a discount system set up, I'd say fair enough but if it's a straight up "No that was last gen" that'd be pretty poor form.

Preorder paid off in GameStop and decided to get a pro controller too (I got the Wii U one late in its life cycle and wish I'd gotten it sooner).

Asked about changing from grey to neon pack and was told it wouldn't be advisable as I'd go to the back of the preorder queue. Not too bothered with the colour scheme anyways.

EDGE Reviews are in. And lets just say its very good. Wont post as its a spoiler for some. Bring on next week.

Ign podcast video is very good this week too. Recommend ye check it out.

Really like that Switch plug is just a USB plug. No power brick. It be great for travelling as it can double up as a a device charger. I thinks its 2.6amp 5v. Likely 2.6 for the dock etc. A Sansung USB 2.1 amp charger should be good enuf for charging too i reckon.

I asked of this in Smyths and they said the same but that if I was lucky, I could swap it out on the day. If they don't go through all of their walk-in neon consoles, I might just have that luck :) They hold onto pre-orders for 48hrs so if they go through all the neon walk-in consoles, I'd have to wait two days for a 'maybe'.

Not too worried though as I'm set on getting the SnipperClips/Joy-Con bundle so will have my neon grips one way or another.

Red and blue joy cons have gone up to 99.99 on the GameStop website so I presume these are the ones bundled with snipperclips.

Not sure if you're referring to the World of Goo games or VC? I think it's fair to expect to pay something for non-VC games ported to a new system. Previously owned VC games should be free of course, Nintendo can well absorb any cost in porting their emulators.

Nobody is forcing anyone to buy anything (in relation to folks saying they 'have' to buy games again) - a big part of the problem are those people buying these games over and over and expecting Nintendo not to charge for them.

I've a pair of Huawei USB-C chargers after a returned Nexus 6p netted me an extra one, means I can keep one in my satchel along with the Switch, perfect!

I'm hoping some 3rd party will bring us a cheaper Switch Dock option, I'd like to have a way to play it on the living room or sunroom TV without spending €100 for another official one.

    There it is.

Why would you buy multiple digital versions of the same game in the first place?

If you don't want to do that get a PC. At the moment the only platform holder actually doing that is MS and that is out of desperation. Sony aren't offering it and charging for content you already own outside of a handful of cross platform stuff that is all first or second party.

Unfortunately with an architecture change you pretty much have to start from scratch with ports and somebody has to pay for it. The VC emulation isn't simply like sticking SNES9x on a device and playing your roms on it, far more work went into emulating titles (although that is debatable with the ****ing horrendous NES emulation on WiiU).

In an ideal world Sony MS and Nintendo should have had this built into their digital platforms from the start but when have big corporations ever looked further than their noses when it comes to profit.

Also I'm not defending these practices, they are bull but also understandable. It's why outside of exclusives I can't get anywhere else I now get all my digital games on steam since I know I'll always have a way of playing them.

Had a missed call from Gamestop about half an hour ago. It would have been about my Switch pre order. Not that bothered. They can call me back.

Was just listening to Game Informer's impressions of the Switch hardware. One concern I had was that one of the guys had his kickstand snap off on several occasions. Said it was easy to put back on but that's not good.

They were also expressing concern over the wrist straps but I haven't had a chance to read the article yet.

To be honest Sligeach, if you're pulling and pushing the Switch as much as the person is in that video, it's bound to fall over.

It's the initial opening of the kickstand to let it stand that worries me. Not exactly planning to reef the thing out of the back but I'd be expecting something pretty sturdy all the same.

I'm sure it'll stand well when you're not deliberately arsing about with the console itself.

He's giving that Switch more of a mauling than I do a kebab with a skinful, tbh.

    nonsense video

    looks pretty solid to me

if you are intentionally trying to make it fall you will (which in this case they were)

    Think of it this way:

You playing zeldo broth of the wold in tabletop.
You need to charge, so you go to dock. You're in a hurry so you forgot to push in the kickstand.

Would you rather the kickstand pop off and go flying or not fall off and you get confused by meeting resistance so you push harder and the kickstand breaks and you need to send the console in for repair?

Yes that was extremely exaggerated but a tonne of sites have mentioned that the kickstand comes out easily. I'd imagine it'll wear out over time and will go missing like the styli that wear out, slide out of the holder and then disappear. I can just see the secondhand market where buyers are checking to see if it still has its kickstand.

Broth of the Wild sounds like it could be a range of soups to accompany launch day.

Well they did design it to pop of as they knew people might ruff it or forget to close it b4 docking. So thats a design positive in my book.

Plus the fact that even has a kickstand in the 1st place is a major welome compared to using tablets/phones for movies with no kickstand. It would have been easy to not include kickstand as it takes up plenty space they cud have used elsewhere. Most importantly it promotes multiplayer bigtime!

Its all these small touches like this that will make everyones life easier during daily use while it's easy to forget and appreciate it. Give praise where its due.

My pre-order of the extra neon Joy-Cons has had the release date changed the 10th in the order details section on the GS site, everything else in the order is still the 3rd. Anyone any word on if the neon sets have been delayed in general to the 10th whether you order the Snipperclips bundle or not?

I was in Argos earlier on and they have the listings for the Switch itself on the stock checkers. I was pretty shocked by the price they are going for, I somehow managed to forget exactly, but It was either 369.99 or 379.99, I was so taken aback by how much more it was than most other places. I took down the number for the Neon switch just in-case they have a more reasonable price come launch when it is actually available for reservation, it is 683/6539 in case anyone was wondering. Usually Argos are pretty good with their game prices, so I have to assume it will be more in line with other places come release.

The price for Switch Zelda was 68.99 in case anyone was wondering.

Hopefully they'll do a day one discount or something along those lines.

There's probably already some chap in Hong Kong selling replacements for 99c on eBay. I wouldn't be too fussed about replacing it after its snapped off a few times.
