Try this one I'm using it last few months excellent battery life, bit tricky to install but worth it.

What's trickier about it then other custom ROM installs?

What's trickier about it then other custom ROM installs?

I was used to flashing cynogenmmod on various different phones that was so easy , on this rom you have to flash the boot loader modem csc files etc all done separately can be daunting at the start, have a good read of the xda thread above it's a great rom with loads of modifications using aroma install

Is there any way I can within seconds disable notification pop ups? Sometimes when someone is using my phone i would rather not have private WhatsApp and other messaging app messages pop up. Sirely there's an easier way then going into apps then disabling notifications manually on each app?

Had my phone in my bag charging on my power bank and ever since then my charger won't stay in and only works when I pull it forward. How can I go about getting the port repaired? I bought it new form a guy on adverts last year so I doubt Samsung will be an option.

Going away for 2 months next Wednesday and a phone that only charges when I place it in a very particular way is not what I need :(

I use a fast charging pad so you just lay your phone down on it and hey presto it charges.

There's another way to get a bit of privacy if you give your phone to someone else.

Go to settings>lock screen and security>other security settings>pin windows on.

Open app which you will allow the other person to use. Hit Recents button then press on the pin on bottom right. This locks them to that app only and messages don't show up. If you don't have any password/fingerprint security on already you might have to set one up to get it to work.

I checked SMS with Textra and Viber and neither show the message, test WhatsApp yourself just to be on the safe side though...

The one with the lock is the Knox version but when I click on mine it doesn't crash, it brings me to sign into my Knox.

Is there any way to disable the 'safe' listening volume shíte?? Bit of a pain when listening to music through an aux connection and the volume keeps dropping after a period.

Complete pain in the backside is right. Would love to know how to disable it.

You can disable those annoying notifications popups entirely using the adb method in this xda thread. I tried it and it works great.

I have a S6 which I have had for the best part of nearly 2 years, the S7 doesn't look like a big enough upgrade for me to consider, not sure about the S8 as not a huge fan of curved designs, I am on the fence about the design of Xperia XZ premium :(

Still no sign of Nougat on Vodafone..

Got Nougat on Vodafone this morning - getting used to it still but I notice that there is a bit more lag and the screen takes a second to wake up.
might need to leave it bed in first before I comment more!

Ughh...This update is not the best is it. S7 Edge and here are some of the issues and gripes I have
The My Places app has disappeared. It was perfect for setting the phone to silent when in work etc.
Quick connect also seems to have disappeared. WTH Samsung?
The notification shade is cat malogen. There is no distinction between different notifications the font is tiny and it's hard to see what is going on.
WiFi icon on the quick pulldown shade no longer shows what WiFi I am connected to.

I am sure there are lots of other things but I am not too enamoured so far.

Anybody else see anything that bugs them?

I know it's not ideal, but pull it down twice and you'll see your WiFi network name.

I had the slow unlock thing too and the fingerprint unlock in the browser was really slow but a factory reset sorted those.

2 finger pull down also shows details but that's awkward.
Things I like are .... I have the Clear View cover and it now shows a lot more details of notifications. Previously it only showed missed calls but now it shows more noticeable notifications from other non Samsung apps.

Yeah that improvement is the same as the always on display too. So much more useful showing all apps.

I really like the design change of the stock apps like messaging, email, and the browser too. The double tap of the recent apps button to switch between two apps like alt+tab in windows was a great addition to Android 7 too.

Hmmm. Not so sure design changes are awful I think. Email app is now unusable as colour is all too similar to tell emails apart. Message app is also awful but I never really used it anyway as I use Disa (SMS, WhatsApp and FB messenger all in one app which joins threads of conversation)

It's going to take a bit of getting used to as all the whiteness is bad for my eyes. It's just too bright. I have found a dark theme so maybe that will help.

How are you all finding the battery since Nougat's release? How do you find the speakers?

I am considering buying either a S7 or S7 edge especially if the rumours of the S8 are true.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,579 ✭✭✭techdiver

Have the S7 since June and was working perfectly for the past while.

Recently the battery life has become terrible. I used to comfortably get a day of usage form it. Now is only 12 hours or so.

As usual the battery usage doesn't shed much light.

    Android System 23%
    Android OS 16%
    Google Play Services 13%
    Screen 13%

I use GSam Monitor also, and it claims Wifi Active is using 15% and phone Radio 9%.

I'm going to just attempt a factory reset tonight. Just pissed off that this same crap happens with every Samsung Phone I have ever bought.

When are they going to release a phone with a durable/decent battery on board, instead of out pacing for features!!!

I'm convinced some app has gone rogue, but it's so difficult to nail down. Hopefully a factory reset will help.

Yeah, don't want to root it as certain apps I use won't work while rooted, even when using root masker apps.

Getting approx 30 hours, 8 of that would be idle when asleep but the rest would be low to medium usage.

I too find the speakers crap...seems worse since noughat. I changed some settings in sound equaliser, seemed to help a bit.
Do not turn on that concert hall setting though, wtf would you want that for!
