That's a shame. I think my wife is hoping the Switch will break my crippling Overwatch addiction, or at least free up the telly so she can watch her stuff again :-/

When Nintendo eventually add streaming media apps, she can enjoy the switch herself! :pac:

    You were lucky...
Our dad would open curtains on a stormy evening, and expect us to watch that out the window, he'd interrupt the view every 15 minutes, with our Mam, with descriptions of shops down the road."

We had to make do with DOS..."

And we only had two games to last us 6 years between the 7 of us and it was all we needed to be happy. If the Switch doesn't replicate the happiness I believe I once felt due to the deceptive nature of my nostalgia then its a failure!!!

I (genuinely) used to get one game a year, possibly two if we had enough money at christmas, and I had to make that last me for a whole year, if not more, and it was a fantastic time. Don't think I've ever gotten as good at games again as I used to be at those games I played endlessly again and again.

Anyone going to Gamestop or Smyths midnight sale?

I took the Friday off and will be queuing up (if there even is a queue) for sure.
Can't wait to get my hands on Zelda.

Have the Friday off (Switch and Logan releasing same day) and I still have my preorder. *IF* I do buy it, will get it in the morning.

We used to play together actually, but Little Big Planet co-op was nearly the end of us, so I play and she watches if there's an interesting story or visuals.

you say that now but just as everyone is getting ready you'll run in on your own shouting your name and grabbing the first switch

Me and the wife are planning on attending our local Smyth's midnight opening. Have no idea when to go as we've never been before (don't want to get there stupidly early, but also don't like the idea of joining the end of a long queue around midnight)

When I was drawing a wage for the first time back in '90 I was buying maybe a game a month or so.
    They were expensive!

The earlier you get there, the less time you'll spend there, if that makes sense. Get there for 8 or 9, and you'll be out the door pretty quickly after midnight, any later and the queue gets real long.

Same. What's pissing me off is I'm getting the Switch & Zelda through Amazon but the Switch on the 3rd and Zelda on the 6th, this means I have to pay two separate fees to Parcel Motel and I have no game to play on release day.

    1-2-Switch (Switch) - Boxing Gym

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EipKZ7qA__o

This isn't proper boxing. It's garbage. What's the point of swinging both arms? Maybe there'll be an option to use a second set of Joy-cons.

    Meet your buddy

I'm in the exact same boat, be nice if they bunged Zelda in there before launch...

If not I'll just have to wait it out...

You know, I've got this feeling he doesn't, funnily enough.

Not that I think it looks specially amazing, but then neither did wii sports.

At least Wii Sports came bundled with the machine…

Oh dear. Was worried someone might say that as I kinda know the wife is expecting us to rock up at around 11:30, collect the Switch 30 mins later and be home shortly afterwards. Anyway, we live close enough to Smyths that I can pop down earlier and see if a queue is forming (and go home if it's not)

Metal gear's final song was Irish trad if I remember correctly.
Yep, The Best Is Yet To Come - translated into Irish by Bláthnaid  I thought it was cool when I saw it on the album at the time. Play magazine said it was in Icelandic... I don't think I got many more issues after that :pac:

I'm with sligeach on this one TBH, I think 1-2-Switch looks awful and I doubt even my children would disagree

But apparently it doesn't play awful.
And it's in the playing that it shines.
It is not a visual game, hard to represent its tactile roots in a bunch of trailers and some screenshots.
And hence why the typical online clickbait merchant can't spend the time doing anything other than slate it.
Arms is supposed to be quite good to spectacular, depending on the source who've played it, including a poster here.
So, I'd rather wait and see than judge it on, well, nothing.
