Big tobacco spent loads of money on making smoking cool and macho with film and other media placements.

Meh. Vaping is saving lives. Having said that, I use a small device only slightly larger than a cigarette, it doesn't make big clouds and I've never blown it in someone's face (except once, when a friend said it smelled amazing and asked me to).

I sleep better, I feel better, I'm fitter and I spend about €30-€40 euro a month on supplies, compared to €40-€50 a week I used to spend on cigarettes. I've reduced my nicotine level down slightly over time too.

Quite simply, I've been tobacco free for 4 and a half years and seen numerous benefits to that. I couldn't give less of a **** to how uncool other people think it is.

Im an ex smoker. I smoked for 24 years until i started vaping 4 years ago . I have a 14 year old son and i'd prefer ( if he decied to experiment as most kids do ) to find an ecig in his pocket than 20 john player blue .

Off them 2 years thanks to vaping.

6months to a year and I'll have a deposit for my mortgage. I definitely don't regret swapping my "cool" fags for a ecig. I also don't preach to smokers . Ive had it left on the table when mostly smokers come up and start ****eing on about it being worse for me ;I tell them to ****ing mind their own .

I fail to see how it being "stupid looking" has to do with anything.

Many/most smokers want to quit, but are terrified of the process. And serious addicts cannot imagine life without fags, and they will literally spend their last tenner on a box. Cigarettes become a part of who they are. Sounds ridiculous, but it can be true. They just can't see how they can have a cup of tea, have a beer, even enjoy a meal, without the delicious and satisfying smoke.

People are lucky if they can quit cold turkey or with NRT, but many struggle, so vaping is ideal and by far less damaging and much cheaper.

It perplexes me how people get irritated by vaping.

Similarly, you'll only notice the Bearded Hipster sitting outside the Vegan Gluten Free Coffeeshop blowing Mushroom Clouds of vaper from his Giant Silver Mod. You are not noticing the vast majority of us quickly pulling out our ecig from our pockets for a few quick pulls and hardly emitting any vaper.

Please tell us what we can do or say to disabuse you of the notion that we Vape to look cool. We vape regardless of how cool or stupid it looks. We vape because we are nicotine addicts and finally have a method of ingestion that doesn't harm our own bodies, doesn't harm others and saves us an absolute fortune. Nicotine has a harm profile similar to caffeine. Coffee addicts always had a safe mode of ingestion in the form of a drink. Nicotine addicts methods of ingestion up till the advent of ecigs was cigarettes. It'd be like caffeine addicts needing to inject their caffeine hit with a dirty infected needle every time. But what about Nicotine Patches? Well, would a Caffeine Tablet work for you when part of your caffeine addiction is the flavour of coffee and smells and the social aspect of coffee shops. With ecigs, we nicotine addicts finally have something much more akin to your cups of coffee.

Started vaping 2 weeks ago, feeling a lot fitter and fresher. Even smoking the vape a lot less than normal smoking.

Money saved has been unreal as has my health since.

Couldn't look at another normal cigarette at the moment and long may it continue.

Looking cool? Couldn't care less what it makes me look like! :cool:

Look, nobody starts smoking because they want to smoke as the end goal, it's peer pressure, pressure to fit in, social acceptance that starts it, fine. Vaping is better than smoking from a health point of view, but again, what sort of idiot would do it if not for some sort of validation of themselves. You want to relax, there's lot of other things that can be done not as detrimental to health.

It's a pity that we couldn't just eradicate smoking and not have something this stupid replace it.

It is however better than smoking, but, not vaping, is even better again.

But yes, hand claps on how stupid you know you look

Validation? Oh ffs. That's even worse than the "filthy habit" comments.

An addiction isn't a habit, it's not something for validation (seriously, what?). It's an addiction. Nicotine is an addictive substance, and people who smoke or vape daily are addicted to nicotine.

Vaping has been reported to be at least 95% safer than smoking, by Public Health England. So leave vapers to it. It's harm reduction, not harm eradication, and we all know that.

E ciggs are as bad if not worse than tobacco.

They stink, the people think they are above no smoking laws and think its "healthier!

Not to mention the things are unregulated, so you could be " vaping" rats piss and they are a major fire hazard.

Look at the London Fire Brigade twitter.. More fires started by charging stuff than smoking.

Exploding ecigs etc.
