I use a blackvue dr650gw-2ch. I have WiFi in the car through an LTE modem using the car's antenna. I can access the cameras remotely on my phone from anywhere and it automatically backs up the footage to the cloud in the event of an accident.

I got the updated version, the DR650S-2Ch on Amazon.fr on Tuesday. I did a bit of digging and got the best price I could from a reputable dealer. There is also an IR model due out soon.

Hopefully going to get it hardwired before the end of the month.

I'd be interested to find out how you set up the LTE modem.

The seats are horrible looking. Are there no other options? You can get leather in a leaf...but I don't see that in the Ioniq

Leather is an option on the Irish Ioniq. I think it's about €1600.

When I was speaking to the sales rep (i know, i know ) I asked about trim levels and extras and there was no mention of any extras, other than metallic paint. Do you have a link to the options available here?

Better, I have a hard copy price list with all the options listed from Fitzpatrick's Tullamore.
I left it at home though, I'll grab a scan tonight.

    Nice work, cros13.

There are no brand new Ioniqs in stock anywhere in Ireland (apart from white ones), so any car ordered / bought needs to be scheduled for manufacturing in South Korea. So there's no reason why one shouldn't be able to specify options. Hyundai themselves, the importer and the dealer make a lot of money on options, so it should be in their interest to push them on the customer. There's seems to be a severe lack of knowledge about this in the dealer network though. Didn't matter to me as I prefer to keep cash in my pocket rather than spend it on optional extras, metallic paint the one exception :p

Anyone order an Ioniq with options, please post back here! I can see the "black pack" being popular for people ordering a black car. Makes the plastic "grille", arguably the only ugly feature of the car, blend in more and thus look a lot better.

Just sat into the Ioniq, parked my test drive Leaf beside it:) the seat in the Ioniq is much lower than the Leaf, more like my 1998 S40.
Also with seat fully pumped up, am hitting the roof, as in S40 again.
I am 6' 2" and not blessed with the most supple lower back so the Ioniq is out of any further discussion.

I'm almost 6'2" also and have no difficulties at all fitting in the Ioniq?

Seats in both Ioniq and Leaf are poor though. Very little support. I'm used to seats several levels up in quality (in premium cars like BMW 5 and 7 series, Saab, Rover, Jaguar, Porsche, etc.) My back is strong, so it doesn't bother me. Reminds me of my grandfather, learnt to drive trucks with no seats in them, he used a 50kg bag of spuds to sit on

Now I would struggle head wise to sit "behind myself" in fairness in the Ioniq, the roof in the back seats is low. Plenty of space in the front though.

I am waiting for an extended test drive. I too have a "bad back" and had a lumbar microdiscectomy at the end of 2015. Although the Ioniq is low to the ground, I found it easier to get in and out of than my e200 and certainly easier than my fto...which kinda looks similar to the Ioniq....if you squint really hard :D

The real test for me, is driving it for longer periods of time. If that doesn't work out...then it will be an outlander for me, as there is no other EV, or PHEV that I like enough to make the splash.

For the Leaf did you sit in the material or leather seats or both?

I find the leather seats in the SVE fine. Maybe not Porsche class!

Really looking forward to seeing all these future Ioniqs in the wild. Have yet to notice one or meet one while charging. Is there many actually delivered yet or are most waiting?
My wife keeps talking about a test drive but unless they bring out a sport model I won't be moving from my i3

It'll probably be 2030 before Hyundai sell a car that drives as good as a 2010 BMW :p

Ah I dunno, there's a few in the BMW stable that don't deserve the badge

Yeah, I was thinking that grey grill panel could use couple of coats of plasti-dip.

I find the seats in the SVE leaf perfectly fine.

    Back to options.

I've booked the test drive again for Tuesday ! can't wait !

Anyway we chatted about the options and according to the salesman he said that Hyundai Ireland will not order the highest spec Ioniq because they have to order in bulk and they fear that by the tiny ev sales figures that they might not sell so they will not order the highest spec.

I asked if it can be got so he's finding out for anyone interested, I won't be changing until 2018 anyway.

He also said that with Hyundai they make the cars with whatever spec and they don't really do options like most other car manufacturers ?

I saw one on the FCP outside Roscrea last Saturday lunchtime... A white one.
Was trying to get a toddler to eat at the time so didn't get out to chat to them before they pulled away.
    Looked nice though

I saw a grey one in Limerick city last weekend, don't know if it was a demo or what though.

Saw one whilst out running the other day. Would like to see one up close some time.

New owner in the Netherlands reported he got an implied range of 280km during the week (very mild winter weather about 12C, mainly on open road / motorways average 80-90km/h)

Prices released ahead of the launch in the USA on 01/04/2017 - $29,500 for the EV

    Linky

We're incredibly lucky that it is a lot cheaper here. In the past I used a rule of thumb that if a car cost $x, over here it would be about €2x

Is that including any incentives ?

Yeah I think the last few weeks has been a mixed bag of weather conditions, I went from 16kw/100km to a new low tonight of 12.1kw/100km for a 62km journey.

    Nope.

In most US states you get no direct incentives (that you could net off the MSRP). In some you do. In some you get tax credits up to 80% of the value of the car

And there is a federal tax credit (applies to all states) of up to $7,500 per car on top of that  (that's for a Tesla, not quite as much for an Ioniq)

No wonder EV ownership is starting to pick up very, very quickly over there, even in the land of the gaz guzzler where oil is king!

Your man reported an average of 9.8 km/kWh (10.2kWh/100km) so with a usable capacity of 28kWh, that means a range of 275km. No hypermiling, no pulse & glide, just cruising at about 90km/h average. And if you know the Netherlands, there are 10 times as many people per sq km compared to here in Ireland, so roads are never quiet like here in Ireland (outside of the Dublin area)

    At what speed though ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,547 ✭✭✭Fiery mutant

Naas - Sallins - Clane - Kilcock - Kinnegad - Home. Naas to kilcock on the road probably averaged around 80kmph as the camera vans like to hide in a couple of spots along the way. Kilcock to home is fairly open and clean, so probably around the 90kph.

Temperature outside was 9c, temp inside was Auto 23.5c. Naas to Kilcock the drive was Eco, Kilcock to home was on normal.

I'm afraid I have to contradict you there. The $7,500 is the same for all electric vehicles down to the low-speed NEVs. It means in some cases you could get a cheap EV and make every penny back in tax credits that you spent.

Our CTO in work has a Smart EV on a $1 (yes, one dollar) a month lease.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,766 ✭✭✭✭unkel

Ok, I just did a quick google and it said it was up to $7,500 depending on the capacity. I assumed the capacity of the Ioniq wasn't big enough to get the full whack :)

Edit - yeah, you must be right there. Leaf gets $7,500 so obviously the Ioniq too.

And yeah, the government giving you a free gift of a free EV and then some spending money with it too. Bring it on here :D

They have some annual tax On EVs in some states, read somewhere today.
    Hope that doesn't spread.
