Our line (Cornafulla) has been updated to go live 22nd Feb, the Eir site still shows that it isn't available, do they wait until after the go live date before updating the Eir site.

Our area went live on the 11th January and I was able to order it online on 21st December so should go live for you soon if you're able to get it.

Ferns, Co. Wexford was never on the list before for the first 100,000 and only went to 2017/18 in the last update. It now has Autumn 2018! This route includes (and crosses over) sections of the M11 Enniscorthy Bypass which is not due for completion until early 2019.

My area summerhill down for Autumn just hope it doesn't slip like it has twice.I can't see them hit the target of end of 2018 to finish rural rollout.

areas listed for Winter 2018 will probably slip into 2019 unless they make amazing progress between now and December 2018.

In the last few days they begun marking poles on the planned blue line routes in my area with the letters S or F.

The letter S appears to indicate a splice box location as they're situated in the vicinity of clusters of houses. The letter F appears to indicate the beginning or end of a fibre run.

The first S marking on the route I looked at today is only 500-600m from the exchange.

The exchange (Murroe/MRO1_E01) is scheduled for FTTH in H2 this year, poles for replacement were marked as defective late last year but no pole replacement or hedge cutting work carried out yet.

An update on this, today's map changes has moved the exchange from H2 2017 to Autumn 2017.

Coincidentally, today a Defusion Utility Services van was around the area together with a pick-up towing a mini-digger. They were installing ducting between poles in those places where the overhead line goes underground to avoid powerlines etc. In one place I looked at they had installed standard hydrodare pipe with sufficient above ground to run the full height of the poles. In another place they running yellow ducting.

In my quote above I mentioned they marked the poles recently with S and F. Looking at the markings more recently two types of F were sprayed on the poles "F" and "F.", the "F." mark appears to identify the end of a fibre run while an "F" in the middle of a line identifies the point where it goes underground.

My local exchange Castletroy is down for winter 2018 - though all the more rural exchanges surrounding it are have dates in 2017 etc. Can anybody explain that?
Your area probably isn't rural enough and well served as it is unfortunately. ItHurtsWhenIP summed it up well with his post.
Our local exchange was connected to the core fibre network last Summer from the Castletroy exchange and is going FTTH a year or more before yours, doesn't seem fair I know.

In any case all of this won't benefit me directly as I'm too far for eVDSL and beyond a blue line, but hopefully when the NBP gets launched the commercial fibre cable will be near enough to get extended by the NBP contractor.

Pallasgreen Co. Limerick has gone live for fttc that passes 70 homes as the exchange is in the middle of nowhere. The ftth has moved from winter 16 spring 17 to spring/summer 17

Homes that could never get any type of phoneline broadband until now as the exchange was never upgraded for adsl, good luck to them.

Pallasgreen exchange has been adsl enabled since 2006, speeds weren't great - max 7.6mb. Dropping off rapidly as the copper isn't in the best of shape. Constantly getting patched / repaired.
Good to see the fibre connection made over a year ago (into the exchange) is now live to customers to benefit from.
Roll on the ftth part of the upgrade...

Thanks for that Jason, I got my adsl/fttc mixed up. I posted about Pallasgreen a few times previously having ADSL1 but not being on the FTTC rollout plan and having no core fibre connection e.g. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=95782827, http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=98937313.

8th of march.. Just around the corner but eir sales people know nothing about it..

You know they are going for a land grab in order to make the NBP less profitable for any other bidder. Therefore they need to hoover up the most economical rural areas that they can, before the contract is awarded. So urban is barely getting a look in until the NBP is awarded.

The other thing is, if SIRO or someone gets the contract, are they going to have to run their own network to all these rural houses that just missed out on the blue line?
Will OpenEir allow them piggy back on their network, or at least will charge them handsomely to connect to the end of their network.

I wonder if that has anything to do with it in that all the surrounding exchanges connect back to the Castletroy one? Or is it just this land grab nonsense?
Either way it's infuriating been told you are directly connected to the exchange and can't connect to the local cabinet for 6 years!!!

it's a real shame their training seems so poor, also if they know the exchange goes live on the 8th, we should be allowed order up to a month in advance so that installations can happen from the 8th and not 3/4 weeks afterwards.

Short answer..No, as it is a partial Euro funded project, it cant use any private commercial facilities? as in it can be added too such but separately alongside such...and SIRO will run their gear on the H/V powerlines and will probably have there own fibre switchgear cabinets...

And what happens if in the last month before going live they encounter fibre faults and other snags, ie. storm callouts elsewhere etc...what do the installion crews do then that have been booked...

Land grab in the rural areas by the looks of it when you consider Castletroy is well covered by cabs with speeds of up to 100 Mbps with rural areas in most cases getting a lot less than ASDL's 24 Mbps limit. Sweep up most of these areas first and then move back to the urban FTTC areas. Rural rollout at exchanges connected to Catletroy wouldn't have any affect its own rollout other than maybe all resources are being thrown at the rural rollout first.

An exchange isn't given a live date in the systems for sale until it is actually ready to be sold. and then 30 days notice before an operator can sell it...so that all operators have the same opportunities.

Is that not just for FTTC and not FTTH?
it was talked about here or on the other thread...

There has been quite a bit of work recently around the area by open Eir so hopefully it moves along nicely as the mobile coverage in the area is very patchy. Its a huge area to be covered though. Pallas to kilteely and dromkeen

There was an Eir rep doing the rounds, calling to homes and signing people up in the Drum/Cornafulla area last week. It was during the day so many would have missed him. Just happened to have the day off.

I've updated the alternative map. Again let me know if you spot any errors please.

I also updated the spreadsheet with the number of premises announced. I have decided to take out the large regional towns from the total as I am guessing whether they are urban or rural premises. That said as of yesterday I make the total 9540 premises.

long_b could you please add Roslevin (Westmeath) to the First 100K tab of the spreadsheet as I can not edit the first two columns.

I can tell you that Ennis rural blue lines have been live for a couple of weeks now.
Unfortunately I cannot provide numbers, only confirmation that several houses near the end of the blue lines to the east of Ennis are currently enjoying FTTH. ;)

I'm sure that may be replicated in other areas but I have no way of separating the numbers. I suppose we will have to trust Openeir to be honest in their reporting.

did you actually get to sign up?
Someone called at the house a couple of weeks ago and the missus just said that all he was doing was checking names & postcodes. in advance of signing up.

Apparently there was a Defusion Utility Services van was around my area together with a pick-up towing a mini-digger. I'm told they were pulling cables across the road from pole to pole

Will this crowd be likely to be pulling cable as well as ducting?

Would exchanges with definite live dates for example Croom Co. Limerick on March 8th are ftth lines for sale yet?

not yet, we won't know anything till the 8th. Also several places that were supposed to go live early February got delayed, some by weeks, others by several seasons. There is no guarantee all exchanges listed for going live on March 8th will go live.
