EA's previous Fifa outings on the 3DS and the Wii U were very conservative affairs though, and unless they really REALLY want the Switch to succeed I can't see them making the necessary effort. If they don't try, the game won't be well received so it won't be bought, proving there was never a market for it in the first place and no need to go all-out on the next annual iteration. It's like proposing marriage because of the mutual favourable taxation implications, or buying cheap steak, or playing poker for matchstick. If you don't fully commit, you aren't properly invested in the outcome making it far too easy to walk away from.

Do they have a subscription service or dedicated digital storefront on PC? And is that accessible on the XBox or PS4?
If Yes and No, making it Switch-accessible would get their attention
If Yes and Yes, making it non-Switch-compliant is the end of proper EA support for the console.
If No and Whu?, forget I opened my mouth :D

O' course, there's no point having access to a sub service or digital shop/portal if you have no software to stock it, but if you allowed various publishers to have their own shopfronts they would be very interested in taking well-established properties - ones that would really only require you to do engine development and play testing / QA for a quick turn-around release - that Nintendo owners might have missed and putting them in their portable hands. Like Skyrim.

(that's right. I'm starting a rumour that the eShop doesn't need to be up and running on day one because there are secondary and tertiary marketplaces!)

My portable battery pack, USB-C cable and 128GB SD card have all arrived. Fairly common items but little they do all know they'll be making sweet sweet love to the Switch in a few weeks time.

Pro Evo 2017/18 would do the trick for a lot of people!
Perhaps Konami would be more willing to bring a more recent engine to bear, instead of taking the cheap last gen option that EA seem to have done.

well if they are as lazy as they are with the pc port then it will be the poor mans version not using the fox engine.

Nintendo's new console still doesn't solve Nintendo's biggest problem

    http://uk.businessinsider.com/nintendo-switch-third-party-games-support-2017-2

Now I know some of you have(unfairly in my opinion) had a go at some of the articles I've posted here. But you'll be able to pick apart some of the fallacies in this though some points remain valid.

I'm sorry that you feel victimised, but that doesn't mean the likes of businessinsider, idigitaltimes and other such nonsense are worthy of being read.

The article is dumb, they start out harping on about capcom and show a screen from SF2, the same SF2 that is getting a port to the switch, they neatly forget the slew of capcom games that are on the the 3DS, in fact they forget the 3DS altogether.

'More problematic is that the Switch isn't as powerful as the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.'

Like I'm sorry but if you write this and consider yourself a journalist you are one of 2 things; delusional or a fraud. It's so far from viable to fit an xbox one or ps4 into a ****ing tablet. Just insanity.

'If you wanted to play the latest "Call of Duty" game in the last decade, there were few chances to do that on Nintendo's consoles. That also applies to other major franchises, from "Grand Theft Auto" to "Mass Effect" to "Assassin's Creed."'

Is that what anyone wants? Is that what you would want Sligeach? If Nintendo trotted out a simple equivalent to the Xbox One and Ps4 just with Nintendo branding we'd have the same amazing exciting market as exists between lets say Budweiser, Heineken and Carlsberg.

'they arrived later and looked less impressive.'

Who gives a ****? We can just apply the same logic from PC to consoles and just be done with the whole thing.

'And that's a problem when Nintendo's competition, Microsoft's Xbox One and Sony's PlayStation 4, have enormous game libraries, cost less, and are more powerful.'

Yea man day 1 lets match the game libraries of several year old consoles, while we're at it, my own steam library is 423 games deep (and I would say that is pretty reasonable compared to some here), lets match that day 1.

'During a recent investor Q&A, the question of third-party support for the Switch came up. Shinya Takahashi, a Nintendo director, offered an answer that doesn't exactly instill confidence:

"Nintendo will keep on creating unique software. By doing so, I believe we will encourage third-party developers to create a number of quality software titles for Nintendo Switch."

    Right.

Nintendo's argument largely boils down to "We'll lead by example, and hopefully third-party developers will follow."'

You'd swear that was the answer he gave to the question, but this is actually completely ****ing deceitful 'journalism', lets have a quick look at some more of what Takahashi said in his repsonse:

'For our previous game platforms, creating our own development tools was a high priority for us. However, since the start of Nintendo Switch development we have been aiming to realize an environment in which a variety of different third-party developers are able to easily develop compatible software, such as by making it compatible with Unreal and Unity as well as our own development tools. As a result, even companies with only a few developers have already started making games for Nintendo Switch. The development of Snipperclips ‐ Cut it out, together! started with one such small team.
Since last year, we have introduced Nintendo Switch to a variety of different development companies by demonstrating software such as 1-2-Switch. At each demonstration, everyone was interested in the new play styles. During our recent (January 13) Nintendo Switch presentation, we played a video message from the creator of Skyrim, Mr. Todd Howard of Bethesda Game Studios, in which he shared the genuine impression he had already given us
when we first showed him Nintendo Switch.'

Then an only then those he write the final line, the final sentence the only one this 'journalist' used, taken out of context as though it existed on it's own, I actually started this rant thinking 'hey, it's just ****ty clickbait' but now it's actually pretty clear that the writer is trying to deceive.

You know Miyamoto was also in the same interview and he had some **** to say too:

'In addition, third-party developers who are making software for PC can now easily adapt that software to work on our platform. In the current development environment, Iʼd say that it would take less than a year for them to port a PC game to Nintendo Switch'

    anyway back to the article at hand;

'To be clear, some games from third-party software makers are coming to the Switch. They're mostly games from years ago, rereleased on the Switch. That includes "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim," which originally launched in 2011, and "Disgaea 5," which originally launched in 2015.'

So those are 2 games announced thus far, is 2 games = most?

'These are not the type of third-party games I referred to earlier — the "Assassin's Creed"s and "Call of Duty"s and "Fallout"s of the world are what matter nowadays when it comes to third-party support.'

I genuinely don't know anyone who gives a **** about those games anymore, people are fatigued with the same old ****, certainly AC and CoD. Fallout maybe, Fallout 3 and 4 are both gigantic sprawling world which people have invested hundreds of hours into, I'm not sure what demand exactly exists for Fallout 5 right now.

Anyway long story, not short, Sligeach it's not a personal attack but these articles bother me, they are redundant opinion pieces pretending to be something more. I get that you feel betrayed by Nintendo, they are a ****ing mental company but I think you have become inflicted with a myopia that no longer allows you to be rational with regards any of their products.

Good shout, was one if not the only Wii game that I actually liked using the nunchuk with...

If FIFA is as fully fledged as it's Xbox and PS4 counterparts then that could really sway the "casual"

President of Nicalis, developer of Binding of Isaac, talking about the Switch:

“The Switch is, by far the easiest and most programmer friendly so far,” he said. “I know this sounds like lip service to Nintendo, but it’s actually not. If this wasn’t true, we wouldn’t be able to get these games up and running as quickly as we have, and we wouldn’t be able to have a launch title. It’s light years ahead of what we were doing with Wii U.”

He also mentioned they have "way more" Switch games in development.

Well, I just pre-ordered mine from Amazon a couple of days ago.
I went with Zelda and Bomberman as my initial games.
I think that 1-2 Switch would be fun, but at that price I'm not willing to take the punt. Wii Sports was good for a while back in the day, and did attract a lot of non gamers to have a go (my parents for example), and I think 1-2 would be the same - but the "newfanglement" was short lived with Wii sports, and I think this will be gathering dust within a week or so after purchase.

1-2, Switch seems to me to be the kind of game you'd take out to have a quick laugh with, put it away again, and never play it again.

same games im going with, only picked up 1 2 switch as part of the 10 pound off on amazon a few weeks ago as it was about what i could justify bringing it to 30 pounds if i split the 10 pounds off as 5 off that and 5 off the charging grip also had 8 pounds remaining on a one for all so adding that its 26 really :P . showed the video from the presentation to my gf and she said they look like fun and figure people with a similarly low interest in mainstream games will have the same reaction.

If the Wii versions of PES are anything to go by, then Konami are just as bad as EA. And they skipped the Wii U with PES, not just that but I don't think they made any Wii U game at all.

    Not buying 1-2 Switch.

    A) Literally 100% of my gaming is 1 player

    B) It looks rubbish

    C) Party games are silly. Parties are for beer and tunes, or, (hold on to your hats) actual good games.

It is possible I'm still bitter after being destroyed at Wii Sports bowling by my then 10 year old niece. It was a family gathing at Christmas. I was showing off my new launch day pride and joy. They all laughed at me.

    All of them.

    Never again.

What is Nintendo's quality control like when it comes to LCD ? Is it common to get DS's with stuck or dead pixels or backlight bleeding for example. That would be a disaster on the Switch. And being the first batch who knows what gremlins they will have. Plus no idea how I'd return it to Amazon having had it shipped via Parcel Motel. I'm in a mood as back decided to fall off my Samsung TV other day. Now everything is suspect.

Never had any problems with the DS Lite, DSi or 3DS I've owned.

DS Lite is 10 years old and survived a car crash with no bother.

Screens have all been top notch

I've never seen any QC issues with Nintendo stuff.
Older devices used older tech, so the screen on the original GBA:SP and DS look terrible compared to the GBMicro and DS Lite. But after that it's all good.

I want to be able to have movies, tv and a Youtube video open on ALL of my consoles at once in my living room. What's this about the Switch playing games though? I think this an unlikely developement for what is ultimately a multimedia device.... will it have a killer app at launch, like Adobe Acrobat???[/sarcasm]

To be fair not having a browser and Netflix from day one is bull****. People ****ing love the **** out of Netflix. I don't know why as there's **** all on it but people love that ****.

Give them Netflix and a browser on what had tablet like capabilities could have been a strong selling point.

And why not be able to play YouTube, tv etc on it. That's what I use my iPad for 9 times out of 10. The switch tablet looks perfectly capable of doing so, so why not market that for the casual gamer that the sorely need for this console to be a success.

There's only so many of us who'll buy it no matter what.

I don't know, so far it has a **** launch line up, sensible stuff like the above not in place and I'm really struggling to see how they'll get this in the hands of consumers, other than you and me.

I was looking at it again today with what I'd buy to make it a family device I'd want 4 joy cons, so I'd have to buy 2 separately and a charger yolk along with one game and the switch itself was coming out at about €450 or so.

I just don't see people spending money on this. I really don't. I know I know it's early doors but with such HUGE competition in the market at the moment PS4, Xbox1, not to mention Nintendos own 3DS which I think parents will cling to for the kids, smaller, cheaper, etc..

Ugh, Nintendo I love you but it's like you want to fail.
