    Costa header initially which cech parried and Alonso heads in from there

    I wouldn't think Costa gets an assist there since it last touched Cech?

    Also, no sympathy for those benching Alonso. That just seems silly to me. You have to play your expensive defenders at home IMO, especially one that's basically a winger.

    Can't say I wasn't tempted by an Alonso to Coleman but with the way he gets forward, he's a season keeper.

    With Pedro on my bench, it'll be a nervous 40-45 mins.

    Not really. There are lots of solid defensive options this week that could give at least a CS return.Alonso offers plenty going forward but isn't the greatest defender in the game (rumours of a dropping a few weeks ago) and is up against the highest scoring midfielder available.
    It's only 27 minutes in and a lot can change yet.

    I'd have to disagree, he's the second highest points scoring DF this year.

    He's playing OOP and 6 goals/assists before todays game and Chelsea share the best defensive record in the league too meaning more points for Alonso.

    Even if they are at home vs Arsenal & Sanchez, you'd have to choose him even for his attacking threat
