How much is a days detailing?Would love to get the car machine polished.

Can any offer advice and recommend a product for cleaning cloth seats?

A day's detailing will only get you a light enhancement. Spirit will have to wash, clay and detar the car before any polishing can be done and wash it afterwards and then apply a wax/sealant. It's a rather big ask to get all that done in 1 day.

UNless Brian has changed his pricing I think he was
€250 for a one day job
    and
€200 per day for a multi day job.

    ie.
a two day job would be €400.

I've got an itch the last while to get the vRS painted and fixed up. Its got damage to front bumper but only paint no bulge or cracks. All damage is on driver side so wing, mirror cover, door and then a few spots around where Lacker has peeled and little scratch on rear wheel arch and a few marks on rear bumper from some dick hitting with reg plate.

Wondering if any of you knows a good spot which won't break the bank.

My goodies came today, so hopefully the weather is nice tomorrow to give the car a good clean :D

Got to wash the car the weekend,

Very impressed with the Bilt Hamber snow foam.
even more impressed with the Hydro2foam, although i did feel when using it with the snowfoam lance that i was inclined to not rinse my wash mitt as much. Next time i think i will try only foaming half the car at a time.
Very impressed with the beading after just one wash.

HydrO2Foam can be used as a shampoo too - will be more economical this way too! ;)

I have a 0.6L Foam Lance for my Karcher pressure washer and I have a 5L bottle of Blit Hamber auto foam. Do I just pour the BH auto foam into the 0.6L container? Will that be enough for one small saloon car as well?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,113 ✭✭✭Gavman84

Little goes a long way with snow foam. An inch of snow foam is plenty. Fill with warm water then. Dont need to even fill the bottle entirely. I only use Id say a half lance full to do my focus.

Thanks. So maybe 0.3l of blit hamber and 0.3l of warm water?

No thats half the bottle ya dont need much at all. An inch in the end of it is all ya need. Will be mainly water with small amount of foam. Will be on the bottle anyway dilute rates. Above is what kleanfreaks one is.

You won't get as good of a result of foam but it is better then notjing.

    I have both types.

Bilt Hamber say that for the most effective cleaning power with Auto Foam, the PIR (Panel Impact Ratio) should be about 7%. To work out exactly how much solution you should put in the dilution bottle, fill the dilution bottle with just water, have a bucket ready, turn on the pressure washer and collect what exits that lance until the dilution bottle is empty, then measure the volume in the bucket, and 7% of that, is what should be the volume you add to the dilution bottle. Very technical, eh! :P
Essentially Auto Foam uses quite a bit of solution to achieve maximum cleaning ability, so most foams might be an inch (approx) of solution in a dilution bottle (of a snow foam lance), it might be 2.5" or more of Auto Foam - this is the reason why they are sold in 5ltrs and for relatively cheap given the volume.

MuddyDog; it sounds like you have the 'lance' that comes with the Karcher - while this will give foam, its not as effective as a snow foam lance - the foam wont be as thick or dwell as long. As pointed out above, by Punisher, there is quite a difference in results, but its better than nothing (as he says :) )

Interesting read about determining the correct dilution! May try it out some time soon :D

Need a leather cleaner and or conditioner. Or anything that can stop colour transfer?

Usually wear trousers but I can see the dye from my navy jeans transferring onto the new leather already!! I reckon I've worn jeans about 5 times ffs.

    Whats the best out there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

Modern leather, post 1990, is no longer breathable, so leather experts well say that it doesnt need conditioning as it cant absorb it. Instead it tends to sit on the surface and attract more dirt.
There will be those who say that conditioning makes a difference, or that if you have a squeaking sound of the back and the base moving off each other, it will put a stop to that.

Regard protection, yes, there are options available. While they only limit transfer of dye slightly, the big advantage is when you clean them, its far easier to remove.

Dont know whats best if there is such a thing as a best, but Autoglym does it's job as does Chemical guys cleaner and balm. Maybe CG cleans touch quicker.

Whether they (balm bit) stop the transfer of dye transfer I doubt it, it maybe best avoiding the bolster as much as you can getting in car.
