So who here is buying Switch just for Zelda and already has a WiiU?

I'm having pre-order buyer regrets already here.

Me, but replaying A Link to the Past has made me want to keep my pre-order.

Me, but replaying A Link to the Past has made me want to keep my pre-order.

Tis a great game! I keep flip flopping on weather to get it at launch with Zelda but then there isn't much interest for me until Mario comes at Xmas. Xenoblade 2 will be pushed to next year, just feel it will. Unless it's already finished now and they are already working on the European voice acting.

Only good thing is I have it all paid for. I remember I got my ps4 and I didn't turn it on for nearly a full year, could have just waited.
I hope there is loads more exclusives to be announced in the next month.

Why haven't Nintendo done a direct on the switch yet? Will there be one this month? I hope so cause it's only 30 days away and so many questions need to be answered about paid online, VC, that chat app yoke etc

I'm buying it and I have a WiiU. I probably shouldn't have gone with a Day 1 Switch purchase, but I like shiny things.

I haven't admitted to home-office that I've put in a preorder yet. Plan is to wait until wife has made some other similarly extravagant purchase, to nod understandingly and then to drop the Switch.

However, my five year old was in the shop with me, knocking over Amibos in the background while I was negotiating. I thought she wasn't paying attention, but she has since started repeatedly asking when we are going back to get "Hah, Hah, Hii-Ya Yeah Eh" from the shop. (Switch release ad-music). I've implied to wife that the girl might be a bit simple.

Yeah, I am really hoping for one more decent Direct on VC. I suspect the online stuff will be drip-fed. "Initial free trial, more to be added soon, adding new content" etc etc.

Me. A few weeks back I fully intended to wait and get the switch later in the year, but because of the the buzz around this thing (and cos I was following this thread) I capitulated and put in a preorder.

I've also just booked March 3 off work and plan to attend the midnight launch (first time doing this). Wife is also taking day off, so I envisage a day of arguments over who gets to play Zelda on the new system (I'm even comtemplating ordering the WiiU version in case one of us is relegated to the secondary system)

I just received a call from Gamestop telling me if I want to buy any games at launch I will need to pre-order them. He said they won't have any available for purchase on the day.

I think I'm going all digital on Switch anyway so doesn't affect me.

Have a Wii U but can't use it on a tv so I am hoping the switch is easier on my eyes as I can and do use both my new 3ds xl and a Samsung tab 4 7 inch and can see both fine up close but tv screens are a wee bit out of focus, am not currently in possession of a tv so not sure how I'll get my switch set up on day one but still have 4 weeks to sort that out.

I am only prioritising Zelda at the moment as I'm going with the €109 special edition, might get Bomberman too as I love that series, no interest in arms or 1-2 switch, might go for Mario Kart when that is out, if I were able I'd probably trade my wind waker wii u off the switch but smyths don't do console trades.

    Latest Switch advert:

1-2 Switch; I just can't see any appeal at all. I want to have something which demoes the multiplayer aspects on Day 1, but unless this gets blindingly positive reviews, I'll be waiting.

Just looking around at the Switch SKUs and the blue red seems to be sold out or over sold everywhere while the greys are still in stock for day 1 pre order in most places. The blue red seems to be really popular.

For the most part, I think they are nailing their advertising recently. They are being very clear on what the Switch can be for the consumer.

So long as those ads aren't just playing on Youtube...

I've got the Wii U and have the Switch and BotW pre-ordered. No regerts.

You can only assume they haven't released more information because they don't have enough to tell yet - maybe the whole online side of things is still a work in progress for them.

We know Nintendo have always been weak on that side of things and you'd wonder how much that DeNA crowd have been able to help with it (or are they just involved with the mobile side of things)?

Fingers crossed they nail the online (although if I was a betting man I'd say it's going to be more of the same as what we got with Wii-U online).

I'll be buying a Switch to play Zelda despite already owning a WiiU.
For me, as ridiculous as it might sound, the opportunity to own new Nintendo hardware is reason enough to spend, and LoZ is the first big thing on it, despite it being also on the WiiU.

After a lot of humming and hawing about getting one I think I am going to keep my pre order...

I don't have a Wii U, I want Zelda, yet chances are I wont be able to afford both Zelda and the console on launch day....

If I have to wait a week staring at an empty switch box until I get Zelda then so be it...

I really want this to be successful for Nintendo and for gaming sake, I really do...

Realistically I won't even get another game until Mario Kart, and then Odyssey...

Own a WiiU. Still excited to get a Switch with Zelda. No regrets!

Person serving in GameStop (Swords) didn't say no non pre order games, but they said they've been told to expect very low game allocations. Also they are probably doing midnight launch!

I've not had a Nintendo machine since my DS/Wii so I've decided I'm going to keep my preorder here. The early days of the Wii were a joy in our place. If they can get a little of that with the Switch it would be amazing.

Translation of a tweet from Splatoon:
The voice chat and the game will work together. For example, before a private match you can talk to everyone but once the match starts, players will be able to only talk to their teams. Furthermore, you can't talk with complete strangers

Girlfriend messaged me there and has pre ordered the Binding of Isaac Afterbirth+ from. VGP for val day gift for me delighted with it.

So going to be getting Zelda and Binding of Isaac Afterbirth+ and need to pick a 3rd game I am really thinking about skylanders now but I would like to see the digtal line up 1st before I decide on it.

Taking every little of over time in the past month to more or less pay for the switch :).

Just hoping I get some use of it. As I have been glued yo my ps4 pro since I got it and my Xbox one s has basically been used for Sky go in the bedroom for the past 3 months.

    You say that now..

I fully expect that I'll end up hoovering up available digital content. Bomberman, RMX (to scratch that Mario Kart itch in advance), Snipperclips, Sonic Mania, I am Setsuna...

Hopefully the Nintendo Account coins start to pay off. Must stop downloading Zelda themes for now!

Does Skylanders not fly completely in the face of the point of the Switch - i.e. backpack full of figurines vs home console gaming on the go?

    Also, it's not Bomberman? :P

I was wondering if their hand would be shown as well. I thought that surely there would be some integration of Pokémon Go, Mario Run and Fire Emblem..maybe linked into the "parent" game, if that makes any sense?

Hmm, the w@nking game at 3:46 seems to be "aiming" at a whole new demographic for Nintendo!
Perhaps it's No More Heroes fans!

The German fellow I found out about this from seemed adamant Amazon confirmed the 280. It was mispriced to 180 which isn't being honoured.

Btw, smart app only voice chat is more likely than on device chat:
    https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2017/170201_2e.pdf page 19 kimi-kun talks about splatoon 2.

sorry was half asleep when I was reading it, the 280 would be honoured alright.
knew the 180 wouldnt be honoured

Got the call there from GameStop that I'll have to pay E50 if I want my pre order day 1. If I don't I'll be pushed back to the next stock allocation.

Going to be getting it anyway so I'll pay it next time I'm near the store.

Told me to make sure to pre order whatever games and accessories I need as well.

Had you pre-ordered online, or in the shop? They never mentioned the amount paid on the pre-order to me at all when I was on the call with them.
