Had two pints Wednesday evening so I almost got the full month dry. Strangely enough, I didn't enjoy those two pints as much as I used to.

Well done to everyone who has stuck at it :)

    I got hammered last night.

Still hanging in there, although my last drink was the 2nd of Jan, the last day of the Christmas break so not quite the whole of January. Will probably be off it until mid-Feb, though...

Still hanging on. It's Mrs pinch flats birthday on Wednesday 1st so expect to have one or 2 that night. I'm at the surveyors dinner on Thursday night - that's usually a booze fest - then out for dinner on Saturday.

Going to drive on the Saturday night - not looking forward to having Sunday wiped out with a hangover.

Not really, I drank on the 20th at the gig I went to - was rather pissed. I drank on the 25th in celebration. I drank on the 28th, also in celebration. and I drank 2 glasses of wine yesterday evening. Cos Monday.

    I'm sorry. I'm crap.

I was doing so well and then my Nan died last week. I was still holding firm after the funeral but my Dad said to me "you'll have a pint?" and I told him I was doing Dry January. "You'll have one for Nana though." I couldn't refuse him then after he just burying his mam.

I'm going to continue on the 1st February to make up for the day off.

There's some things more important than dry January's. Good on ye.

Just a few hours to go and it's mission accomplished for operation dry Jan.
But there are talks of a visit to the pub tonight, I may fall at the final hurdle.

Sticking this out until Saturday. Folks over for 6N opening day. Favourite day of the year.

I'm sure it'll just be a few social ones.

Got over the line myself. I'm out tomorrow night for a black tie do, so will probably end up breaking "the pledge"

Managed to see this through and not gonna break out till next weekend.

Between no alcohol and a good diet for the few weeks I've lost nearly a stone!

Same here, been a good boy over January. No booze, chocolate, crisps and all the sh!te I usually eat.

Down almost 9kg (about a stone and a half) over January - from 108kg to just under 100kg. I'd like to get about another 5kg off - Feel a lot better for it.

Replace "drink" in this thread with cigarettes, weed, cocaine etc.

"Managed to get through January and gonna break out this weekend"...

A non Irish person asked me recently: "Why do you get drunk?" . I said "for the craic, but I feel like ****e the next day", so they asked me again: "Then why do you get drunk?"

I suppose getting drunk is not the same as "having a drink".

Also, on that note, said person was sat in the pub and after 1 drink, I asked if they wanted another, and they said "no". I asked "why not?" (noting the Irish thing, that you can't be sat in a pub with no drink) and they said to me "because I'm not thirsty".

Pub "culture" was totally lost on them.
