Mayweather wouldn't be particularly notorious (lol) for knocking his opponents out would he?

I think McGregor would get put to sleep. He would be hit constantly, he's just not a boxer. He may not be KOd with some big powerful punch but the sheer volume of hits he would take he'd be gone.

I honestly think in boxing rules mcgregor would do well to go past 2 or 3 rounds.

The main obstruction to the fight could be the UFC, I reckon. A sizeable chunk of boxing fans disregard MMA as simply a place where guys who weren't good enough to box professionally can make a living. Granted, that is a dying mentality, but if the top man in the UFC is made a fool of by a 40-year-old Mayweather, the opinion will be reinforced, and the UFC may not want to risk damaging all the good work they've done with their brand. That said, I've no idea how the UFC could convince McGregor not to take the fight, especially if reported figures are to be believed.

    49 wins, 26 KOs

He knocked out Hatton, probably his most famous.

If you want to see him at his offensive best look up the Gatti fight, he destroyed him landing punch after unanswered punch and Gatti couldn't make it back out of his corner early in the fight. Mayweather was in his prime but I could easily see the McGregor fight going like that, Gatti was a championship fighter, and that's the type of beating that finishes careers.

Yeah there's a good chance McGregor goes 12 rounds. Even if he loses 120-108 he'll come out of it smelling like roses if he goes the distance with who is arguably the best boxer of this generation.

Ah here. It looks like I'm deliberately trying to undermine you today, .ak but...ah here.

McGregor would be punched around the place. Not a hope he's going 6 rounds let alone 12. Mayweather might not be a knock out puncher but he has stopped plenty of boxers. Only 6 of his first 25 pro bouts went the distance.

He's a superb counter puncher and technical boxer. McGregor is an amateur boxer. It would be like an AIL scrum packing down against the 2003 England forwards.

Looking to take a, relatively cheap, midweek break this month. Anyone got any suggestions for a good place to start looking?

He'll be fighting in 8oz mitts and he certainly won't be going on the offensive. McGregor has a chin and I don't see it being tested, Mayweather will rely on his counters all day and spend the 12 rounds defending. I don't see him knocking anyone out at this stage of his career, amateur or no.

McGregor would do well to last 2 rounds, he's an amateur boxer against one of the top pros of the last 25 years. . it's not even going to be remotely a contest

    Eh?

Why on earth would Mayweather "spend 12 rounds defending"?

Because in his last few fights he's been almost exclusively a counter-puncher.

Well firstly, McGregor has also been generally been a counter-puncher when facing better boxers.

But even in his very last fight that wasn't true of Mayweather. I mean there's no real need to go and watch it because he destroyed Berto but here are the punching stats:

    Total Punches Landed/Thrown thru 12:
    Mayweather [232/410, 56%]
    Berto [83/495, 16%]

Total Power Punches Landed/Thrown thru 11
    Mayweather [132/196, 67%]
    Berto [39/177, 22%]

Can't find the 'power punching' statistics including the 12th round but I think this illustrates the point well enough. He has plenty of output when his opponent is outboxed. The big question with the bookies will be which round it finishes in.

I'll gladly watch the fight, but I'd be much more excited to see McGregor fight Khabib/Ferguson/Woodley in the octagon and force Mayweather to take #50 off someone with boxing pedigree.

Speaking of people who punch other people very hard in the face for money, Francis Ngannou is a very very scary man, I hope he does end up the UFC heavyweight champ as he has had a seriously tough road to this point coming out of poverty in Cameroon.

Amsterdam is fantastic even with the boss in tow.

I'd doubt McGregor would care much how long the fight would last. All he has to do is set foot in the ring and he's absolutely minted.

I'm wondering how they'll structure the rounds. Conor's longest fight was 5x5minutes against Diaz, and at times he looked gassed. I'll plead complete ignorance to this, but is boxing more draining than MMA? Any chance the fight is scheduled for more than 5 or 6 rounds?

Apparently Trump is planning an executive order which will crack down in someway on members of the LGBT community

Most of them have been unconstitutional so far, wonder will this one stay within the law. He's probably going after gay marriage in some way.

Remember that time when the Republicans in Congress were all against executive orders...

You really have to wonder how far away we are from a major constitutional crisis. I could genuinely see a revolt in Congress against him, especially if this trend continues closer to the next round of elections in 2018.

Myself and the OH went to Trim for a one night stay recently, stayed in the Trim Castle Hotel.

We'd a lovely day browsing the castle itself, then checking out the town.

The hotel do a package including a five course meal for €150, it was a super meal too, we really enjoyed it.

I was speaking with someone earlier about this and they said that it's already at a point of a constitutional crises with judicial orders being ignored at the instruction of the White House.

After a week things have completely spiralled out of control and the appointment of Bannon to the NSC is genuinely concerning. All the other stuff up to now has been highly embarrassing for America and worrying in the sense that it has plenty of popular support, but Steve Bannon is legitimately an extremely worrying and dangerous figure and it seems he holds incredibly power now.

I think the best case scenario is that Pence will be president by the end of the year. If there is any terrorist attacks in the USA while Trump / Bannon are in situ we could be in real trouble.

If anti-LGBTQ legislation is passed there will be revolt on the street.

To be honest I'm extremely pessimistic about anything coming of all this trump bull**** which is depressing, but I really hope I'm wrong. On the other hand the Koch brothers, who are probably THE most influential money men behind the Republican party, are starting to make noises of disapproval because they can see some of this crap hitting their bottom line. If trump pisses them off enough the Republican party will turn on him in a heartbeat, hopefully they'll oust some of the more despicable sycophants he's surrounded himself with at the same time if that comes to pass.

11/10 for Trump not to see out his term. I was hoping for better. I guess I'll just have to throw a few quid on the golden shower footage appearing on RedTube at 4/1.

It will mean I have to closely analyse the footage and content of RedTube but this is a sacrifice that one must make for democracy.
