I can't smell Red Bull or it's equivalents without being queasy. Monster is the only energy drink for me.

When we were a small start-up the amount of energy drinks we went through were absolutely ludicrous. We had a rota on which we were to run over to sainsburys and buy the stuff. If we had done particularly well we'd splash out on the red bull. I don't even want to think about the lasting damage that did to my body. Now I just drink coffee and Irn Bru to be healthy.

In 3rd year of college I didn't go more than 3 lectures for a module. Come exam time I didn't have a breeze. I read the notes online and then crammed for 24 hours straight including an all nighter ahead of an afternoon paper. 13 cans of Red Bull.

I never knew what that stuff did to your insides if you ingest it in bulk. I didn't have a solid bowel movement for a week.

You didn't drink enough. At a certain point you carmelise your insides and your bowel movements are effectively like candy. Awec would love it.

Is this McGregor v Mayweather farce actually going to happen?

    Nah can't see it tbh

If McGregor gets the the right cash I can see it happening, 100mil from the split and PPV and he could walk away a made man, even if he gets a pasting from Mayweather.

  • Administrators Posts: 55,122 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

It would actually be ridiculous to watch.

If it's boxing rules then McGregor doesn't even lay a finger on Mayweather. It would be a pretty dumb way for Mayweather to hit the 50 mark too, beating someone who is effectively a boxing bum.

    Money talks I suppose.

They're talking it up like there are real moves afoot to arrange such a showdown.

    McGregor will be laughing.

I've no idea how it will pan out. Mayweather would utterly demolish him in a boxing contest but how will he handle a flying kick at his head or being taken to the ground?

How would McGregor handle someone keeping clear of him and picking him off with a precision and regularity that would have him rocking on his feet in a minute?

But that doesn't matter to McGregor. If he got this one over the line, he'd happily retire, I reckon. Mayweather commands a purse for a single fight that would tower over McGregor's career earnings. McGregor is a businessman/conman. He'd gladly get his head pounded for a purse of that magnitude.

It's purely and entirely about money. It's sports entertainment.

But if you're either of those guys why would you not do it? Mayweather has nothing to gain except money, but its so much money.

If it happens it's going to be a boxing match, not an MMA bout

Then it'll be a farce but one that McGregor would happily take on. It would be a complete win/win for him.

It's a bit wrong IMO. If Mayweather wants to hit the 50-0 then fight an actual boxer who has even a small chance of beating him.

McGregor would probably lose a boxing match against amateur boxers never mind Mayweather.

I think it's a win/win for both. Mayweather's last fight did not do well on pay-per-view and I don't think there's any other fight for him.

I would personally guess that the two of them are talking directly about this and having a great laugh, and they'll sell their "wolf tickets" and both retire happily.

Personally they may make a lot of money but the event itself would be a farce.

Yes it would be a farce and any athletic commission that licenses it should be ashamed, and potentially in very serious trouble if McGregor gets hurt.

Exactly. What's wrong with a pint of Guinness and a small one?

    .

Read the notes online? You were lucky, you were. In my day the only thing you got on line was the operator. Ah, the young folk today, they won't believe ya...

I'd fancy Katie Taylor to beat McGregor in a boxing match, never mind Mayweather.
How much money do you really need when there's a real chance of never waking up after the fight?

McGregor/Mayweather would be a freak show but I can definitely see it happening. It will be boxing rules, otherwise Mayweather would get the head kicked off him. A good few months of pure boxing training and I can see McGregor sticking a few rounds with Mayweather as he has a bit of a chin and a 40 year old Floyd is far from a finisher. I doubt McGregor believes he truly has a shot but he'd be laughing all the way to the bank and retire post-fight I reckon.

It would be interesting if they done something like boxing rules but used MMA gloves instead of traditional gloves. Not that Mayweather would ever agree to it.

Won't matter a jot to CMG if Mayweather lands on him...he couldn't finish a fish supper so he won't realistically put him to sleep. That said his boxing skills are so good that he would dance around CMG and make him look like an arse.

€100 million for looking like an arse...where do I sign up?

I seriously doubt McGregor is in any danger. It's not like MMA fighters can't take a pummeling.

Yeah there's a good chance McGregor goes 12 rounds. Even if he loses 120-108 he'll come out of it smelling like roses if he goes the distance with who is arguably the best boxer of this generation.
