I set up a Mutant HD51 for a mate during the week and was very impressed with it.It cost €230 delivered from WoS and can get 2 tuners in it for no extra cost.

The box is very responsive and the picture quality is impressive for the limited time I used it for.
I didn't have the boxs playing side by side but I reckon Mutant picture quality is as good as my Duo2 .

    A newer box than Solo 2 with openvix support, a superior processor(so I'm told) and 4k output I think it's a good buy .

Thanks for your input the 4k not important but the faster processor and hevac 265 codec is just dawned on me I'll need a USB DVB-T2 Tuner Stick for the Mutant it should work OK think

4k probably isn't a requirement for most users at the moment but no harm having it for the future.

I'm blocked from WoS at work but can't you get a a sat twin tuner and terrestrial tuner set up for that box at no extra cost?
I thought that configuration was available for £189.

Just checked the configuration hope I'm reading it right but it offers two tuners at the price, you can choose either to have a terrestial tuner and sat tuner installed or two sat tuners installed seeing as I need two tuners for my two sat feeds there's no room on the box for a third terrestial tuner so usb tuner for me

dreambox are usually all clones and can run a specific type of image only with so many makers of box and mismatch of image bringing problems, the newer 4 k boxes do look very exciting.

For €100 less I could live with 1gb RAM.The Mutant seems a right good job to me when I set one up.

Doesnt look like a great start, looks like they made a bags of the PM address format they used for DHL.

    "Delivery address:
    McKinney Road 1a
    BT36 4PE
    NEWTOWNABBEY
    BT36 4PE
    NEWTOWNABBEY"

They have the receiver name as my PM number tho.

Fingers crossed DHL know what to do!

Hi sugarman great sat box enjoy.. Is your PM number on anywhere on the address label?

I had a similar problem lately and I emailed DHL and PM.
I let them know a few details on my order and it got sorted out. Infairness to DHL they were great, they added a small bit of missing info to the parcel which meant it didn't sit around PM for days.

Anyone sampled the Edision OS Mega yet? See it in Germany for 180, but no delivery to here unfortunately. It has a serious feature on tuner 3, it can be used as a terrestrial, cable or sat tuner, and according to world of sat, it can have terrestrial sat or cable sat plugged in at the same time. ( SAT frequency is 950Mhz upwards, so cable/terrestrial uhf signal can be combined on the name cable.) The tuner will configure depending on the channel sought, so effectively a virtual quad tuner box, or record 2 watch 1 all off sat.

Where are you seeing the Mega for €180 in Germany?

On idealo.de . January offer with one supplier, but they didn't post to Ireland. Plenty 199 € suppliers, but with delivery, I think it wiser to buy local for warranty peace of mind and the correct 3 pin plug, for the small euro difference. I expect it performs much like the edision OS 3+, no longer available, which is rocket fast response wise.

If you use "boards" as a discount code it works out at €204.80 delivered from Freetv.ie.
Irish supplier so will have it within 2-3 days of ordering.

That's an excellent price. Wifii is built in. Even amazon.de is 205. I'ver setup an OS3+ for family abroad and it's perfect. They went out of production before I could grab one for myself. I think I'll plunge.

That's a very good price and peace of mind buying locally.
Hardware wise it ticks almost every box,I'd buy one buy the major drawback is that its a Mips based cpu so the picture quality wont be the best.
I'm going to hold out for an Arm based receiver in this regard I think.

OS3+ is mips also, I honestly can't fault the picture quality on it.

Its not as good as your Alien 2 though .
I had the Technomate Nano 3T ,same receiver as the OS3 ,picture quality wasn't as sharp especially SD .

I was hoping for a report from someone who has one. Bear in mind this box has a h265 capable video chip, so it would be a different beast from HD chipped boxes, regardless of the processor. If anything, I'd be concerned that a chip designed for 2160 resolution might not be optimised for SD or even hd, plus the issue of setting the output to UHD then expecting the box to upscale SD without visible artefacts. We discussed this at length on the alien thread a while back.
