Trump has a moral duty to intervene to stop the starvation in Yemen which the previous president failed on.

I suspect the same failed policies towards Yemen to stay, a blind eye turned to the country by people who like to get out to protest to continue, and the starvation process in that country to continue unabated.

This starvation where a child under 10 dies every 10 minutes in Yemen is something a US president could stop if they wanted.
But I fear the US is tied too close to the Saudi terrorists to do anything, given the hundreds of billions of dollars the Saudis have invested in their country.
Special interests have ruled the US for a long time, and despite Trump last year calling out the Saudis over 9/11, now that he has power, I don't think anything will come with it.
The world will watch as the people of Yemen die from the effects of starvation and war.

It's like the conspiracy forum has leaked out into reality and all the former former dwellers are loving it out in the sunlight blaming all the normal folks for the worlds ills.

It would make a good mini series.

What kind of intervention do you hope for?

Have we heard anything in the media about working towards peace there?
I haven't, it is the hypocrisy of western politics including the US where it is alright to arm and support the Saudis and cause a grave humanitarian catastrophe. Over 10,000 people dead from war and many more from the effects of hunger and related diseases.

Stop the bombing would be a start, and have peace talks.
Have a UN resolution where the Saudis are condemned for destroying crops and farmland in Yemen - it wouldn't pass but at least it would draw attention.
Stop arm sales to Saudi Arabia.
Set up a no fly zone over Yemen.
Fix the airport and the sea ports to allow aid in.
Sanctions against the Saudis until they stop their proxy war in Yemen against Iran.

None of this will happen. Trump and western leaders will do nothing.
An example being, when Trump signed an executive order to stop funding to international NGOs who are involved in abortion, we had the Dutch say they will try and make up the difference via a fund.
Yet we have people dying from hunger as a full scale famine looms and things the US president should be trying to fix as he has influence and something his western allies should be trying to fix and nothing.

That is what is wrong with this world. We get change but never a moral change for the better, special interests also comes first before people.
I will be amazed if Trump is any different.

Tipperary, apparently, several generations back. The Clonmel Nationalist ran it a week or two ago, as I recall.

Edit. Found it. Great, great, great, great grandmother, 1700s. http://www.nationalist.ie/news/what-s-on/231686/president-trump-s-tipperary-ties.html

What a surprise, given that Mattie McGrath was the most vocal in the Dáil against marriage equality, and Lowry is one of the most corrupt ministers this country ever had.

Not exactly. Great artist. The best, she's got amazing numbers. Huge numbers.

Why the **** is he even talking about her ? Is he gonna talk about everybody that doesn't like him ?

Yep a very unpleasant character, pretty sure have read she is down with Hamas also. Oh and obviously hates Ayaan Hirsi Ali also.

It doesn't take much away from what was an awesome protest, but it does highlight an issue the extreme elements of the left have, this rather bizarre friendship with hardline Islamists.

This is what I don't get - his insistence on responding to stuff that he should just leave alone.

There were more people at Obama's inauguration - so what? It doesn't matter, and it's just empty bleating. But then Trump responds and has his spokesman talk rubbish about it, and he makes his own thin skin the story.

She stressed how it was the birthplace of liberal thought
Well that isn't true. Americans always think they invented the enlightenment and liberalism. John Locke was from England and died years before the Declaration of independence.

She is a fraud and I can not believe so many women allowed themselves to get conned by an Islamist who is NOT for equality of women and women's rights. It brings into question the intellectual capacity of modern feminism if they can be conned by this woman.
The women on the march should be ashamed of themselves by associating themselves with her. The likes of Emmeline Pankhurst would be rolling in her grave if she saw women follow the likes of her.

I wouldn't go that far, the march was needed and justified to be fair. This clown associated with it shouldn't tarnish that much, but I think the issue is why are so many people dancing around her horrific views, especially celebrities?

Criticise Trump and his team sure, but don't go quiet when people like this are associated with something you support, that makes you an gutless hypocrite.

How many of the people in those marches do you think know her or that she was organising it ? As far as I know her name didn't even pop up on any flyer promoting the march.

The fact you deem it necessary to paint all the women who participated as shameful just because of her makes zero sense.

I agree with equality for women. I have a sister and women should be entitled to a fair chance. Women's rights are very important in terms of employment and other issues. I agree IF the positives can be taken out of the march which was seeing so many women engaged in expressing themselves.

I would have preferred if it wasn't just an excuse to bash Trump which those lame duck celebrities did. I can't believe they would have went if Hillary had won the election. But you add on this Islamist who helped lead it and those awful celebrity speeches, and the positives just get overlooked.

"One researcher from Irish Genealogy has traced the Trump family line back to Germany, then England and finally, the President’s great great great great grandmother who left Tipperary as far back as the 1700s! "

Thanks Manic. Thankfully there's very little detail in that article and I suspect it's just wishful thinking on the part of some like-minded souls down in Tipp.
Irish Genealogical records become very sparse pre-1800 and almost impossible to cross-verify.
If the link is that far back I think we're in the clear.
Anyway, he's probably not the original Donald Trump but a Russian substitute like they did with Tito.

The march was anti Trump because of his attitudes towards women. It wasn't a anti USA, pro Muslim, Democratic party, or any anything else.

Whilst this women people are talking about may be a muslim and have views on that, that was not what the march was about. If anything, it makes that woman out as a bit weird to to on a pro woman march and asking for more Sharia law. But thats her own square to circle

People marched for their own reasons for a cause they believed in. I doubt many of them even knew who was organising it or speaking at it and probably never would have if Trump supporters hadn't brought it up. It's like marching against water charges and then seeing a PBP person take to the stage to talk. You march for a cause, not for a person. I doubt many would have shown up if they'd been asked to join a march for some of the speakers who showed up.

He's also got ancestry in the Isle of Lewis, a lovely chilled out place with great people that couldn't be more non-Trumpy if it tried.

That being said Mrs Thatcher is partly from Co. Kerry, but neither Kerry nor Thatcher rushed to claim that one.

No. Trump is a stupid choice for President of the USA but he won the election and that's what they/we are stuck with.

Anyone who thinks that Trump will make the world, or even just America, a better place is delusional but maybe the 60 million who voted for him will learn that lesson in time.

Does he have good intentions? I don't know. Would things be better or worse under Hillary? I don't know.

Now, you made a point that Conspiracy Nuts are blaming the wrong people for the worlds ills.

I asked you "who should they blame"?

Your response was "You've made my point."

What? It doesn't make any sense, right? Am I missing something here?

I'm not really even sure that you've answered my question or if you ever intend to answer it or if I have indeed made your point.

What are you actually trying to say here? The conspiracy nuts are blaming the wrong people for the worlds problems and while you don't know who is to blame you definitely know who isn't to blame?

A little bit embarrassing to be involved in a march lead by a person who believes in Sharia Law and thinks women not being allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia is not a big deal.
