Christ lads, some of you need to find a new hobby.

I'm sure the President of the US is concerned about the opinions of some posters on an Irish message board.

Fun fact: The Republicans were founded to end slavery. The Democrats fought to keep it. Ending slavery passed in 1865 with 100% Republican support but only 23% Democrat support in congress.

I say fun fact because it has nothing to do with today's versions of the parties.

Yeah I posted it mainly as a joke. I'm well aware of the way the parties swung in opposite directions in the past.

There's a worrying development here for many Trump supporters to try and turn everything in a left v right issue. Don't believe the lies that Sean Spicer stood in front of the world and told? Well you're just a typical leftist liberal and look - Madonna said something! MADONNA!

I don't mean this as an attack on people but I think it's far more worrying that people are excusing a lot of things because Trump said this or Trump did that.
What you've said isn't worrying at all. Trump supporters are sitting at home watching television.

Violence against Trump-supporters? They can't complain because Trump said this.
Saying Fưck You to the President? That's fine because of what Trump said to Obama.
Trump getting assassinated? That's fine because he's a sexist bully.

I could find an example on every page of this thread for the last few days where the moral backbone of America is forfeiting all of their values in the name of protest and it's not good.

    No.

But respect should be shown to the President, like it or not the man was democratically elected.
    Getting elected earns respect

Trump disagrees, re Obama's birth cert (to name just one thing). All that is happening here is Trump being held to the standard he laid out.

Madonna is to be investigated for threatening to blow up the white house at the #fascistsagainstdemocracy march yesterday

Maybe you can point out where I said you can't criticize, oh that's right you won't be able to.

If you open your eyes you'll see the point I was making is Madonna telling him to suck a dick is unacceptable.
You are aware Trump's 'main area of criticism' for Obama was claiming he wasn't born in America, and that the people should rise up in a revolution because Obama won the election despite losing the popular vote (which he actually won by 5mn)?

And not a riot in sight...... why can't the left protest without riots?

So by looking to shift the goalposts, you do agree that your statement I quoted - What is clear to me is that the right don't really protest but the left do, I suppose the latter are made up of people who can take the time to show up to these things, while others are busy working and taking care of their families - was completely incorrect. Fair enough.

There was a big crowd at trump's inauguration, I watched it live. How anyone can say there wasn't is beyond me.

    Getting elected earns respect

Nope it doesn't. Actions and words after getting elected earns respect. So far he is still in attack mode and sinking deeper into the swamp. I mean yesterday he sent out his press secretary to blatantly lie to the world when every one could see the actual crowds for his inauguration were pathetic. As a non American I am laughing my hole off at him and circus surrounding him.

Normally I can't stand Madonna but on this occasion I salute her, she has earned my respect calling out the Tangerine terror.

Googled it, looks like more fake news from Gateway Pundit, a hard, hard right, often racist pile of garbage with 'a statement' that is never quoted from a 'spokesman' for the Secret Service who is never named. Naturally, The Sun and Mail both picked it up with both attributing their source as the Gateway Pundit story.

And who was saying that Trump doesn't have a boards account?

How's it hanging Kim Jung Don?

    Deranged fans maybe.

John Hinckley shot Regan over an obsession with Jodie foster and she didn't even incite it. Very silly talk Madonna.

There was, but it wasn't as big as the crowd at Obama's inauguration.
Having said that, the images in the news today do in fact show a smaller crowd than the one seen on Friday afternoon.
I watched the event and the images on the TV at 17:20 GMT showed a larger crowd.

Spicer has destroyed his credibility and opened himself up to absolute ridicule on his first day on the job with his first engagement with the press. Think about it, to fail that badly takes major effort.

Just in case there's any questions over Spicer lying to the world in his first press conference, here's a time lapse of the entire day.

Not really. Here is the photo comparison of Trump's inauguration compared to Obama's, and below is a screenshot of the crowd at it's peak (right before dispersing, so would likely be during Trump's time on stage). They're pretty much identical.

The angle from the podium makes the crowd look bigger because the lower angle blocks out the blank spaces, it's a technique used in lower budget movies that need scenes with big crowds.

The view on TV was from the back and I see that the last blocks were zoomed out of the TV view, that's why the crowd appeared larger.

Laugh away but his deranged supporters believe Spicer over any news reports.
The brainwashed see anything negative as media bias, Kim Don Trump has set himself forth as the only reliable source of information and the donkey-brained amongst followers have readily swallowed all of his lies.
Expect this to apply to any future failure too, job losses, economic downturn, natural disasters theyll believe whatever he tells them. He really can't be held accountable because he cannot conceive if having a made a mistake and they believe his Twitter feed is gospel.

All those expecting a backlash when he fails his base spectacularly may be in for a shock when his failures are believed as media lies or false flags or anyone else's fault.

Sean Spicer is some joke. Blatant lies but Trump fans don't care. If anyone points it out they get labelled as lefty liberal with salty tears (whatever that means).

Trump fans demand respect for him but conveniently don't care about the disrespect he showed Obama with the whole birther saga.

Hours after his inaugural speech where he set out his plan to support all Americans he cut a $500 insurance premium relief for FHA mortgages affecting less well off people. Point this out and again the lefty label comes out or is simply ignored.

Point out the sheer hypocrisy of his Drain the Swamp mantra after he appointed 6 Goldman Sachs insiders to his inner circle, filled his cabinet with millionaire and billionaire establishment figures many of whom either have zero experience in the roles they've been given or have been openly hostile in the past against the agencies they now lead, and it gets ignored or the salty tears label comes out.

It's why I don't trust the media anymore, the narrative must be followed so trying to show as small a crowd as possible suits their agenda. The crowd dispersed quite quickly after his speech.

In fairness it doesn't really matter anyway. The only thing that mattered was the vote. And trump won the election. Perhaps many of the decent people decided to give it a miss as they didn't want to get caught up in violent protests.

And I'm sure you will have enough integrity to praise him if he does well.
