YouTube channels I watched in 1440p are giving maximum of 1080p since I updated to nougat. They also start off on 480p and work it's way up to 1080p as opposed to starting on 720p.

    Anyone having this issue too?

i believe you can change phone resolution in settings

not sure if this will help though

It works ok for me. I think the update has a default of 1080p (beta did anyway), so just change that and update the YouTube app just in case.

Unlocked my phone and updated to Nougat last night. Totally painless and kept all my apps and settings.

    Thanks for the help.

Not a fan yet, but I guess I'll get used to it. The new notifications seem to be more cluttered than before. There is now another way to accidently multitask apps into Windows (does anyone do this).

    Otherwise it's okay.

Too early for me to say. First impressions, not sure about notifications - they're a bit mashed together. I like the way the settings screen has been reorganised.

I'm seeing a 'media.codec' battery drain on Nougat today. Anybody else seen this? Wonder if it's a mediaserver type bug.

That's correct. Balanced mode is 1080p. I upped it to 1440p. I like the performance settings and the way it picks up if your running stuff like Netflix or Plex and asks you to switch over to Entertainment mode which increases brightness and upscales all video content.

Not a fan of the notifications as others have said. Loving the near instant fingerprint unlock. Not using it long enough to comment on battery life.

I find the notifications ok but not sure about battery life. Seemed to get a little worse on the last beta and stayed the same for the official release. Probably just using my phone more than usual.

Still having no option to play anything above 1080p on youtube. I remember this happening when I first got the phone and it just fixed itself. Bit pointless having a 4k screen if I can't even watch YouTube videos that I know are 4k on my brothers **** phone.

I notice no battery life improvement but I'm liking the new notifications and blue light mode at night.

S7 is not a 4k screen. Its QHD, which is 1440x2560. 4k (or more correctly UHD) is 2160x3840, a totally pointless resolution on something only 5.5 inches.

I can turn on the blue light filter in settings but it does nothing. Also the manual says when you enable it, you can change opacity and schedule when it comes on. But these options dont appear. All i get is a simple toggle switch to turn it on. Anyone ?

Hold down on it and it brings you to a page where you can change opacity

I have the S7 Edge 3 weeks now and find the Blue light setting brilliant, I moved from Apple and I am finding the battery life to be excellent.

What screen resolution does everyone have their phone set at? Mine is on FHD, is there much of a difference between the 3 settings? Obviously WQHD will use more battery, what does everyone find is best?

Ive installed nougat using this method on my s7.https://www.google.ie/amp/www.theandroidsoul.com/download-galaxy-s7-edge-nougat-ota-update/amp/ Everything seems good. My phone is locked on the 3 network, so will i be getting future updates from 3 or directly from samsung?

ive tried this method and can't seem to get it to work.
when I unzip the file it gives me 4 folders, when I unzip those it gives me 1 folder but the folder is only 5mb in size only seems to be text.

I'm obviously doing something wrong, could someone please point out where I'm going wrong?

    Thanks
    Jay

Oh right well my 1440p option in my usual YouTube videos has vanished. My €40 tablet can watch them but my €600 phone cannot. I just don't get it.

hi. no I didn't download odin. I used the link for the OTA download for the s7 edge.
Maybe that's what I'm doing wrong?

    thanks

yes thats all the extra you need, on the same page there should be a link for odin, if not here is one http://odindownload.com/SamsungOdin/
once you download run run odin, it will prompt for the files you previously downlaoded.

how risky is it for me to manually upgrade to latest android version using odin if I'm with vodafone?

    is it even possible?
