Nah. It was you who made the assumption regarding 'equation'. These demonstrators are expressing their commitment to everything that Trump and his cronies don't represent.

Ah yes, the default go-to excuse. Hillary.

Any chance in the next four years, in whatever scandal befalls Trump we can have one day without bringing her into it?

Many of the people protesting would not consider themselves 'left'. Again, you assume.

Liberals are all peace and love and whatever other bullshít until your opinion differs, then their true masks slip.

As for the marches today, what an absolute waste of time marching against someone who was democratically elected President.
I find it telling when some people can vehemently defend alt-right//far-right, neo-Nazis' right to free speech (fair enough) but then turn around and be critical of protest marches by "liberals".

People go on demonstrations for all sorts of reasons. Just like people voted for Trump and Brexit for myriad reasons. These things aren't simply left and right.

I don't think people have a problem with protests as long as they are peaceful.

When they involve destruction of private property, assaulting the police or supporters of the opposition, they are not peaceful and should draw the ire of both sets of supporters.

People can have protest marches, but all they are really doing is having some noisy exercise.

I'm a liberal and yet I have no problem in saying the condoning of Richard Spencer being punched in the head for expressing an opinion by supposed liberals and leftists is sickening.

That's the problem with allowing left and right to steer the conversation; logic and reason take a backseat.

If you don't see a problem with a person being punched in the head for expressing an opinion, then you are the problem.

Trump does, for a start. And happily escalated things by telling his supporters to assault protesters which then (to the surprise of precisely nobody) led to an escalation in violence at them.

I'm not at a demonstration. Why not nip down to a demo yourself and find out who is there? Here's a thought. You might find a demonstrator who is pro protectionism but against Trump's cabinet's anti LGBT beliefs.

Hang on....who said I'm a liberal or leftist?

Heh, on the truly important issues, the left and right are as clueless as each other. The left in Britain and Ireland so often talk about how Tony Blair should be charged with war crimes. Fine. But Jeremy Corbyn should be charged with crimes against economics. Bernie Sanders too. Both of them are nothing more than specialists in telling people what they want to hear...Kind of like Donald Trump.

    Hang on a minute.

Trump's biggest controversial statements were about Immigrants and Muslims.

Indirectly, through his choice of people to run his government it looks like transgender people and homosexual people would have the most to be concerned about.

So we need to have a "women's march" against Trump?

Which Woman's Rights are under threat from the Trump administration? Obviously the right to have an abortion but what else is there?

I'm sorry but thousands of people shouting that "woman's rights are human rights" is doing nothing to convince me that folks even understand the main dangers of a Trump (or anyone else to be honest) presidency.

Did things actually get better for women specifically under Obama?

Is the popularity of this protest based on a natural tendency for people to put women and children first?

I don't get it. Trump is a fascist nazi blah blah blah then why is the biggest concern the fact that he said "grab em by the pussy" 10 years ago. It feels like if we were actually dealing with the next Hitler then there would be FAR more pressing issues.

Shouldn't we be more worried about Immigrants from South America and Muslims who just want to practice their religion in peace?

The thousands on twitter mostly. The majority of those condoning the violence are voices coming from the left.

I read an article today saying Liberal trolls are targeting Barron Trump on twitter, real classy attacking a 10 year old kid.

Jokes that women with fake tan have the Trump look.
Women marches as they feel they should have the right to wear fake tan without being mocked.

    Yes but the pro-Trump camp in this thread tend to have arguments as such;

"SHUT UP libtards and wipe those salty tears. Trump WON democratically. STOP questioning the results and his actions and policies henceforth"

Oh and I wouldn't condone any violence on any march, pro or anti-Trump.

Nah. It's intelligent and informed people demonstrating against an egotist and his stupid policies.

    Fine. Which policies?

Maybe I am unintelligent and uninformed here but I am watching the news here and actually having a hard time understanding WHY they are protesting?

The main point seems to be this pussy grabbing thing.

It's the Million Woman March. Womens Rights Are Human Rights. "I'm marching for my grand-daughters!"

"We are gathered here and across the country and around the world today to say Mr Trump... we refuse..."

    Refuse what?

For me, I'd be worried about an American withdrawal from international politics or I'd be more worried about how they are planning to treat illegal immigrants who have already made it across the border or I'd be concerned about what they are going to do to Muslims in the name of "stopping Islamic terrorism".

Not seeing any of that at the protest here. It seems to be mostly about... what?

What's your take on this, Professor Moriarty? What the hell is this protest actually about? Are they raising valid points? What points?

Thing is though, no-one's defended the violence. No-one defended it by Trump-supporters either (well, except by saying that Clinton had obviously bought paid thugs to go riot to make Trump supporters look bad, but that's definitely not happening here, this is the real Left). What they're saying and doing don't represent liberal ideals, any more than half of what Trump says supports conservative ones. Some people are thugs and will take any opportunity to be thugs and they really don't care if whatever excuse they use to cause trouble rebounds on innocent people, right or left-wing.

Also, I don't approve at all of demonstrating dislike by punching people and definitely don't support it for political causes, but separate from that, it's hard to feel sorry for someone so eminently deserving of a punch getting one. Don't agree with it, but have no sympathy for him.

I think it's an expression of fear that the views of those who are now in power seem to be at odds with a modern, outward looking, inclusive society. But my opinion is clouded by the fact that I don't like Trump, his cronies and their views.

Maybe so but they're treated as a minority and paid like one too.

    Does America have anti-discrimination laws?

If yes, then are those laws actually enforced?

These protesters are brain washed by media and Hollywood. If thes protesters think Trump is coming to get them they would be wrong. He's coming to help them. Expect a lot of rebuilding in USA over next 4 years, and expect jobs.
