You are full of it 112 and 999 are the only two emergency numbers for Ireland, maybe your mistake was calling 112 as you said.

Ummm, sure, might want to try that and get back to me. Then make baseless assumptions.

See above post, just out of curiosity did you call the emergency services on a landline or mobile.

We're they just sitting there for hours doing nothing ?

Yes, not the first time either, their favorite spot seems to be beside pubs during the weekend and they stay there for hours.

Ummm..... let me see..... would that maybe be because pubs on a weekend night tend to be hotspots for public order trouble, so maybe they're there (mostly likely under orders) in a preventative capacity as there have been previous incidents?

Because I was there and watched what they were doing.

    Are you Phil Collins? :pac:

I ask because I may be wrong here as in eir may have dealt with land line call and bt with mobile calls. Vaugely remember some dispute about 999 reducing service because of a dispute in the recent past.

Because of how the system works, the dispatcher informs all units and then it's up to them if they want to act upon it or not.

The dispatcher informs all units on HIS channel.

Perhaps the Gardai you think were sitting there doing nothing, where in fact doing their actual job?
Nothing to do with ordinary calls

So there is a crime happening and a crime could happen? Which is more important? OK let's sit in our cars beside the pub because something might happen instead go solve real crimes happening at that time.

    Ah there's the attitude......
Surprised Gardai don't want to call to you

    Hahaha are you serious?
I think somebody has been watching too many American police shows on TV.

    Jesus Christ.

As far as I know the company eir or bt or whoever contact the relevant station now are we sure that happened.

Because that's where trouble is most likely to occur. Is that not obvious to you?

Am I being paranoid but you won't answer my queries, you seem evasive.

And your assumptions (of which there are many) are grounded on what, exactly?

Yep, lets sit and wait for crimes to happen in that location instead of go and help people in need, perfect logic there, son.

Called multiple times by me and neighbours as well during the same night. The neighbours were waiting outside their house for 2 hours until they gave up.

I called using mobile, don't know what the neighbours used but why does it matter anyway???

Ok will try again called by you how, from home on a landline or on a mobile.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 279 ✭✭Pocaide

It may but also may not to be fair as I said I may be incorrect. Think there are were two companies dealing with emergency calls may still be the case. So can we be sure they gave the call to the right place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 279 ✭✭Pocaide

From ancedotal evidence landlines are easier to pinpoint geographically as mobiles for obvious reasons aren't.

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

They called the Gardai and waited 2 hours for them to come but gave up after as they assumed they wouldn't come anymore and they didn't.

No no I mean why would they stand outside their house for two hours. Did they not know they lived there?
