Bought them around the first or second month of owning the PS4, both poor but Knack was just dreadful.

I got killzone in the bundle at launch, it wasn't too bad, but once I'd played through that was it no wish to play again.

Killzone is that bad, I got it for a pound and still don't want to play it.

I can get a Switch from Tesco direct for £252 but I wouldn't get it for launch day, maybe the 5th or 6th, can't decide if the 30 euro saving is worth it.

Ah what Knack and killzone mate 10/10 game of the year

In the launch window for PS4 (which IGN says here they count as 3 months) theres 50+ games listed HERE

Well to be fair there isn't too many system sellers there but the PS4 and Xbox One launched into the market vs the PS3 (released in 2006) and Xbox 360 (released 2005) and the Wii U. They were big upgrades on the consoles available and also had upgraded versions of 3rd party games coming like Fifa 14, which is a superior game to the rumored Fifa port coming for switch some 3/4 years later. Nothing mind blowing but at least something, with at least some games on offer for the following 6/8/10 months.

The Switches main problem is it launching when the PS4 and X1 are at the peak of their run and its doing it really with 2 games worth a look in Zelda and an upgraded Mario kart 8 and they don't seem to have anything from 3rd party worth talking about (a port of the ps3 version of fifa 17 is useless) and Skyrim a game everyone played 6 years ago. 1/2 switch and Arms are gimmicks and won't be in people's minds for long.

After that you're looking at Mario which is currently slated for the end of 2017 but.... well we'll see if it makes it. What is there for the rest of the year? What is there to make someone who doesn't usually buy a Nintendo console look at the system and think "that might actually be worth getting?". It has to convince people to part with probably 400 euro plus.

Mario should have been a summer release imo. Their aim when they started develpoment on this console should have been to get a Mario, Pokemon and Zelda game on it inside the first 6 months. They really had to nail those as those are the games that make someone want the console. They have delivered one at launch and maybe one in 9/10 months time... maybe.

Look It'll sell well at the start I've no doubt about that as you'll have the die hards but what about the summer or Xmas 2017? If Mario misses its fall 2017 release date they are in big trouble for sales at Xmas.

I want this to do well as I think the system itself is a really cool idea but **** do Nintendo make it hard for themselves. They had a real chance to absolutely smash this launch and hit the ground running, have people talking about how great the new Nintendo system is and how you have to play it. When they announced it a couple of months back it really looked like they were going to burst out of the traps straight away but instead they are happy to limp out. :(

Video games are over everyone just burn them to the ground. People are moaning at Ubisoft for offering a demo of Watch Dogs 2, moaning that it's only 3 hours long. Seeing that and the negativity against the switch just cements that most gamers are moany fcuks.

Works out as getting Zelda for £12 which is pretty nice if you look at it that way

How does one avail of this offer?

    You're forgetting about Splatoon.

That's filling the summer gap. A system seller due to the first one not only being an excellent game but on a system that was considered dead managed to becone the most successful new ip in Japan since Wii Sports, that's pretty impressive. It kicked ass for a new IP and there's a lot of folk looking forward to being a squid now or a kid now.

It sold twice the amount Bloodborne, Killzone and Driveclub managed.
Four times Infamous:second son and The Last Of Us Remastered.
It beat total sales of Halo 5 on Xbox one.

Just comparing install bases that's insane.

I know it pushed me over the edge to buy so early. A proper Fire Emblem announced for 2018 and the knowledge that retro studios have been up to... Well SOMETHING for the longest time make me quite confident that there at least will be a far steadier stream of 1st party games.

Edit: that PS4 list is also waaay wrong. It has Deep Down listed as a launch title ha ha. I was really excited for that actually. Where the hell is it? *Investigates

Yeah I did forget about Splatoon 2. Be interesting to see how well it sells on the Switch. As you said 4m units sold is impressive on the Wii U.

Yeah I had to fix my numbers ha ha I messed up royally. :) I just hope it has enough new content. If it feels new enough I think it could be huge.

the fact the switch needs a smart phone for online functionality is a joke

It's stupid but not a deal breaker. I have a smartphone so whatever. Also just means out and about you just need a 3G/4G connection on your phone, on commutes I find bus wifi or train wifi to be insufferable & I quite like the idea that I won't have to get a separate SIM card for the Switch like I did with the PSVita 3G model.

Further confirms to me that this isn't meant for home use like Nintendo is touting.

Wait hold on actually just as I was typing something hit me - did anyone get confirmation that the switch connects to the internet via Ethernet?? If docked it doesn't connect wired I'll scream. That drove me mental with Wii U.

    Yeah no Ethernet port :'(
It does come with ac wi-fi which I didn't expect. There was a leak about an official Ethernet adapter so at least we should be able to wire up.

I bought a third party one for the Wii U a while back for like €20 and it's been flawless. I'm crossing fingers it will be compatible. I'm sure it will as the Wii and Wii U would accept any usb-ethernet adaptor afaik.

Yeah I know Bloodborne didn't do huge numbers (not my kind of game either) and well the last of us was a remaster less than a year after the original so it's kinda not the same. The last of us definitely outsold 4m units.

I'll be in the UK in march so this interests me.

    It sold 4.92m worldwide.
    The PS3 predecessor sold 5.8m

Bloodborne is possibly the best game hosted by the PS4 so far, whether you like it or not. Still only sold 2.55m, far outsold by the best on the WiiU, not even in the same class as the big titles on the 3DS

I got TLOU bundled in free with my PS4. Still haven't opened it. I've watched bloodborne videos and decided while it looks amazing I haven't got the time to play it properly.

When you consider the WiiU sold badly but some games sold very decent numbers for a small user base and compare it to the huge PS4 user base and look at their first party big hitters sales , it seems relatively similar. Does everyone just buy Fifa and COD on the PS4 these days?

Anyhow they better bring back PC Engine games on the VC. Maybe I'll get the chance to buy Shadowlands (it is available on the Japanese) and complete it once and for all.

By using a family members staff discount :pac:

The Nintendo Switch won't include any video apps upon its 3rd March launch.

The storied Kyoto-based company confirmed this information in a statement to Kotaku. "All of our efforts have gone toward making the Nintendo Switch system an amazing dedicated video game platform, so it will not support any video-streaming services at launch," Nintendo said. "However, support for video-streaming services is being considered for a future update."

Bloodborne is a very niche game and I agree it wouldn't be a game that would get me to buy a system. Not many people are into those games, it may be the best game on the system to a small group of people but not to the wider audience.

If you want to go down that route though how many units has Gta 5 sold on ps4? or Cod, or any of the fifa games, uncharted 4 did over 8m copies I believe not bad. I'm sure there's plenty of games that have moved big numbers on ps4 be they 3rd party or 1st. Also with a wider range of options the ps4 players spend is going to be spread around more.

Anyway getting off point which was the switch is launching with what 3 games worth playing inside its first 9 months on the market. Zelda, Mario kart and splatoon 2, 4 games inside the 1st year if Mario doesn't get delayed. That's just not good enough for a system that has to compete with 2 other home consoles on the market and is charging more. Nintendo are marketing this as a home console you can take on the move after all.

They need better 3rd party support to compliment these games or they have to produce their better 1st party games more often.

They should have a had 2D Mario launch game just so there would be some Mario at launch

Maybe that's just me :D Still love a 2D Mario game.

What I remember of the PS4 launch was trading my paid off PS4 pre-order for a WiiU because there was literally nothing worth playing on it outside of Resogun. Got one when Bloodbourne came out but if it wasn't for Bloodbourne I might not even own one since there's really very little on it to make it standout.

This is just depressing to read.

2 months til launch and they wont give information in almost anything. Also to not support Netflix or any video streaming at launch is criminal.

That Amazon deal worked for me, just had to get the total price up to over £50. I pre-ordered Mario Kart Deluxe and Accessory set for £54.98 with the discount.

Nevermind Netflix, why the hell are they stonewalling everything to do with the Virtual Console. Would really make you think that they're rushing this thing out and don't have the answers yet - not charging for their online service initially would point to that too.
