The biggest news on the XB1 lately has been the 360 games you can play on it.

I just see no reason to buy it. I mean they are bringing all exclusives to the PC and unless I really want to play Halo 5 (bleugh!) what is the point?

How are you going to host your frat boy keg parties without one?

Oh wow. That Duck Tales race on ADGQ earlier was pretty amazing. Never seen a run so close.
There wasn't much I wanted to see today so I caught up on the bad games and have 2 player Trauma Center on now, they're so fast I don't even know what they're doing.
I'll make sure to watch Ducktales, thanks :)
DKC relay I'm looking forward to.

Does the new Mario trailer mean that Super Mario Bros the Movie is now canon?

Small bit of arcade cab footage from back in the day as part of Ultra Street Fighter 2 for Switch video.

The Switch presentation and extended Treehouse event has many people divided on is there enough to make them buy it or turn them off it.

And the subscribed online service is one of those features, unfortunately.
The service as currently provided by both Sony and Microsoft is pretty great these days, with freebies to entice the player, along with the EA sub service on the XB1 as well.
    But....

Nintendo, with a poor online record, are going to look for a sub after a honeymoon period and, rather than giving us a selection of titles to download for the system as a bonus, to keep, we are getting them for only a month before they are made unavailable and we have to buy them instead.
Now, I know the selection on PS+ isn't always the best, but it did start with one of the only games worth playing on the PS4, Resogun, and during a typical year there's normally something decent, to keep as long as you sub, every month or so.
Nintendo, with their long history of stone cold classics, are just giving the faithful at most 31 days to play something before offering something else.

I do feel somewhat let down by their lack of understanding of what the people expect them to deliver, and what value their library of titles have to us, or maybe they are overestimating, thinking the price of a classic NES game a month is worth asking for, at the cost of goodwill with the customers.

There's literally zero approval to that online, it seems to be the only thing everyone is unhappy with.

I know how Ninty can be but I'd be quite surprised if they didn't change their stance.

They have enough of a backlog that quality shouldn't be an issue, unlike Sony/Ms anyways.

Remembering the hassle MS suffered with the decisions on owning games, preowned licenses and such, there is plenty of time for Nintendo to amend their plans.
I'd be surprised if there aren't other Nintendo Club style benefits to a Switch online sub.

Would anybody know or have used any of the parcel handling services with purchases from the Nintendo store in the UK? I can't remember if they were not delivering to the pm address anymore and just canceling orders.

I used Parcel Motel no bother about 18 months ago, a lot say they cancel them too, seems to be luck of the draw I think

I used PM from Nintendo and it got cancelled so I tried DPD and it worked, you just keep trying

That could well be the case. There's a nice Breath of the Wild limited edition on it with a shirt. It's on Zavvi too, minus the shirt. I don't want to order it and then have it cancelled and find it's no longer available. Maybe it would be better to see if it's available closer to home.

I used PM for my NES Mini from Nintendo UK. No probs at all.
But I've since moved over to DPD Parcel Wizard as they are awesome and PM are sh1te :)

I was in Gamestop yesterday and they said they are taking preorders for Zelda, including the limited edition one, that being €100.

It was Doge that suggested DPD to me, see I remember some things! :pac:
My DPD delivery guy is lovely he leaves it in across the way if I'm not there and is mad about my dog lol

I might try DPD, that's two votes for them. I'm kind of regretting not picking up a NES mini at the time. I had one in my basket in the Nintendo store and all and didn't put it through for some stupid reason. I'm hoping there will be more stock available later in the year but I could be clutching at straws there.

It's ordered from Nintendo and being delivered by DPD, thanks for the help people.

Make sure to get the Parcel Wizard App. Very handy and you can track the delivery to your door, so you know within a few mins of when it will actually arrive.

I will Steve, thanks for the tip. I can't understand why the Switch thread is full of people bitching about the price. If I wanted a Xbox or PS4 I'd buy one, I wouldn't go on a thread about a completely different console and start spouting crap about the cost difference. I'm starting to see why you seldom post outside of A&R.

    It's typical tbh
When Nintendo have announced something new people who have rarely if ever posted on the Nintendo thread pop up to grant us an audience with their words of wisdom, that Nintendo are doomed, that Nintendo should go 3rd party, that Nintendo are for kids, that they are crap at pricing, crap at marketing, crap at stocking.
The main reason we don't see this with PS or XB hardware is down to the rabid followers there who would tear them to pieces.
When someone takes the time to disagree with the naysayers, they are inevitably derided for defending a failed company or labelled a fanboy.
    It's most irritating.
These are the types of people who would slag Battleborn without playing it, scoff at The Last Guardian based on a Youtube video, and probably think their skills on CoD:Blops3, on a console, makes them some sort of expert on all games everywhere.

The amount of people on other forums and game sites with that opinion and getting upvoted is even more worrying. There's a real scary amount of Sony fanboyism at the moment which as gotten a bit militant.

To be honest I wouldn't be bothered posting over on that thread again. I think that anyone who is considering buying a Switch knows well it's a console that was never going to compete directly with the Xbox or PS4. Nintendo always offered the innovation that others didn't. Sometimes it's hard to educate the ignorant, it's better to leave them be.

Well this makes me feel old - my first post on this forum was ten years ago. 2006.

The Megadrive was discontinued in 1997.

More time has passed between now and my first post here than my first post and the Megadrive being in production.

Remember the time you got your first handheld.

I put a preorder on a Switch this morning, they were unsure of the price on the Zelda limited edition. I put a fiver down on it anyway, they should know the exact price during the week. I'm going to leave the order on the Nintendo Store and see what the difference will be.
