  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,196 ✭✭✭DANNY2014

Had a bad week last week and so I'm gonna hopefully finish c1 by 4 sept gonna add on a week... The prep takes a lot of your time... Could notice a difference in myself slightly and last week fell off the wagon and destroyed everything... Best thing is to try stick 100% but its tough(kills me at weekends) other than that when I am at it I'm buzzing...

Just signed up for his plan so waiting for C1 to arrive....ordered some supplements and protein, really hope its worth it!!! not doing it so much for weight loss but to tone up, have a family to feed so I feel this will probably be the most difficult part! prepping meals for 1 and then watching everything they are eating...takeaway night...nachos on a Saturday eeek!

just realised I probably wont be able to have any alcohol either!

how is everyone getting on? any tips?

Prep as much as ya can ahead... Join the Facebook groups just search leanin15 handy tips and recipe swaps there. Don't kick yourself if your 6 days in an decide to have a bit of chocolate or a few beers life is for living jus get back up next day and continue. Best way to look at it is its a lifestyle change not a diet or just 90 days its for good. For e.g I'm goin cinema Moro nite im gonna get some popcorn and a soft drink but il get back up Fri morning and continue clean eating.. Will be submitting my cycle one on the 4/9 so Fri sat sun will be working harder...

Does anybody who does this like to share how many calories they are eating in a day?

Am trying to loose body fat and trying to find a balance between eating too much/too little, usually try to eat my basic metabolic rate most days and end up above that a couple of times a week.

Once you're below your TDEE you should lose weight.

Yeah. Hard to work out exactly what calories your burning though through exercise. I have bought a heart rate monitor and GPS watch which may help.

I guess on average I am sufficiently below the TDEE as I do a fair bit of exercise.

Its definitively working so far its more a case of trying to keep my energy levels to the maximum as well.

Did anyone watch his program on channel 4 the other night? What did you think of it?

I saw it, and wasnt too impressed TBH.

Joe himself was fine, personable etc, and not too annoying but the way the show was produced was really annoying.

I thought they tried to cram too much into one show and therefore didnt actually explore anyones journey in enough detail to learn anything from it. I also thought the before and afters were a bit ridiculous, for example one lady was wearing heals and had clearly had a spraytan for her after shot only - kind of Heat magazine tactics etc.

What are the lunches/dinners that you guys prepare for the week?

Getting bored of chicken fillets, frozen veg and sweet potato.

Handiest for me was the lime and avocado shake, guilt free fry up ,eggs toms and greens or oats and Greek yogurt with my fruit snack allowance for brekkie... Thai beef stir fry, med turkey mince with stuffed peppers, muscle mince, chicken stir fry or spinach patties for lunches... Mostly the BUB or paprika potatoes and honey spiced chicken for post workouts...

Cheers, I guess Im looking for stuff that I can cook with minimal effort and will last for a few days! Suppose a stir fry would do the job.

Batch cook some and freeze I just took out a frozen turkey stir fry for tomorrows lunch and I'll have the smoothie for brekkie...

Just made a batch of his Thai Green curry and it's damm tasty. How are you finding his programme?

If its the Thai green curry and prawns its pretty good alright... I've been kinda on and off since July tbh and at the weekend gone i sent off for cycle 2... took my measurements and before and after pics and I'm happy out... I think it would be pretty hard to follow it religiously for me personally and the fact I like a takeaway and chocolate now and again, but I'm say 80% on plan I'd imagine... So if I could keep up that part of it I'd be happy and like that I don't mind if I never have a 6 pack or am lean as hell once I can keep the excess weight away...

Anybody have any experience doing this plan and doing shift work? I'm thinking about starting but worry that working shifts I won't stick with it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,196 ✭✭✭DANNY2014

Not so much shift work as such but My shifts in work are flexible (two weeks notice) and I kinda managed it OK. I was doin most my training at 10pm at night and eating huge carb meals afterwards then bed around 12! You've got to want to do it too. Got to the second cycle myself and in that I had a holiday and family wedding so basically it all went out the window so I'm planning on restarting it.(you've a year from signing up) When I was doing it I was seeing great results and I've been off plan about 5 weeks now and I'm as sluggish as I was before been on it.if you do decide on it go onto the Facebook groups loads of motivation and real testimonials about peoples progress.

Started this but does anyone find some of the meals a bit too much.

In my plan in the reduced carb meal options for the scrambled egg with tomato and cheese it wants me to use 275g egg (that's about 4eggs) and then 100g egg white (another 2 eggs)

That's one serving so pretty much 6 eggs.

For lean muscle mince option it's asking me to make 350g lean mince, again one serving.

My goal is weight loss but this seems excessive.

2 egg whites has basically nothing in them calorie wise, maybe 30 calories
    And it's all good protein

just depends on your height/weight and activity.

If you were a bloke then its probably alright but otherwise its far too much

Depends on the cheese but the eggs and egg whites come to about 350/360 calories. In that ball park anyway.

Mince that's 10% fat would have about 600 calories for 350g. Full calorie count for the meal depends what you have over the courae of the whole day. If you decide it's too much in the context of the full day of food, then have a bit less. One meal won't dictate weight loss but you have to be conscious of your own calorie needs.

It's mostly women following his program so yes the individual could eat less but Jesus how is he soooo far off with CALORIE intake or is his only message - jump around your living room and eat healthy food (which works great for most because they're coming from doing zero).
    This too shall pass

I didn't know if it was a program - assumed his books. Either way, there has to be a bit of common sense applied. No one can assume a one-size fits all approach...that just eat this and weight will fall off.

But I haven't read any recipes so I don't know how far off it is or average calories per serving
