Webif not working, Corrupt files? I'd reflash.

Good thinking! Gave the most recent vix a quick spin earlier and thought it was terrible, easy to set up but lots of stuttering and glitching while flicking through channels, getting far too many spinners while attempting simple menu selections, could be the sky skin that comes with it?

the latest sky skin only works well on the default skin , dont change it

there is a new vix4 version 4 based on open atv being launched very soon

You did better than I did with Vix. I couldn't even get it to fully boot :(

On first boot I had to unplug hard drive to get it to load, but found it very slow on channel changes so went back to Hyperion,

got 5.5 up and running after a reflash, still a bit buggy on webif and epg occasionally so not too keen on keeping it, seems to have a massive amount of free memory though and feels very smooth and quick so its a shame

On Hyperion 4.5 in Bluepanel in the "settings menu" the was and "extra setup" menu where one could switch your tuner between DVB-T and DVB-C. Flashed FrostyJim's 5.1 Hyperion image. In Bluepanel on this image there isn't an "additional settings" menu.Does anyone know if it is possible to get this menu back into blupanel somehow on 5.1? Thanks in advance.

Is this thread relevant for a Technomate TM-Nano-3T COMBO Receiver?? I have it in my head that the Amiko Alien 2 and Technomate TM-Nano-3T COMBO are either very similar or identical but marketed via different brands.

You are getting a bit confused .
The Technomate Nano 3T and the Edision Optimuss OS 3 Plus are essentially the same receiver ,just different branding.
The Alien 2 is a completely different receiver though.

Saying that though some of the stuff discussed on this thread is applicable to all linux receivers as they all run most of the same plugins .

Don't use the blue panel, go to the main menu, Service searching, tuner configuration, tuner a, terrestrial provider, then just toggle through the options and you will come across an option for Europe, Middle East, Africa dvb t, or dvb c

When I did this and went ahead a did a scan it scanned DVB-T frequencies not DVB-C. I could be way off but you I think that you have to switch offthe terrestrial tuner and turn on the cable tuner at a higher level. No worries anyway. Have this working on 4.5 so I was trying 5.1 out of curiosity.

Yep there is another option for changing between terrestrial and cable, think it's in the first few menus when your originally setting up the image

Menu/Setup/Service Searching/Tuner configuration, select/highlight tuner A, change Configuration mode to Cable using left- right arrows

This is pure curiosity but how difficult is it to set up your own image from scratch e.g. if I downloaded the hyperion image from the pkteam website and attempted to configure it myself? Does it take long? Do I need knowledge of python? Do I have to download the plugins separately and flash them via FTP or do you get the option to install them when setting up the image after flashing it? Is this something I would need to dedicate a lot of time to given that the family want to watch TV and get annoyed when I play around with the box? Feel free to tell me to go jump if this is the wrong place to ask this.

    Hi All,
Thanks to this forum I've now got the RTÉ Player working on my Alien2 box - many thanks indeed.

Quick question - do you have a similar fix/zip for TV3 player or is that part of any other package?

    Thanks,
    Joe

I can't even change the batteries in the remote and I managed to set it up from scratch with plenty of help from the kind folk on here, it's actually pretty simple, longest part is scanning for channels which involves about ten mins of you sitting there bored staring at the screen praying it dosnt implode, just do a back up of your current set up and set aside an hour with the box to your self and your laughing

If everything works as it should, no time at all. Most problems arise when default settings don't suit. Starting with tuning, have you one or two sat feeds?. Cable or terrestrial on tuner A? Tuner A set correctly for saorview? Go ahead and scan terrestrial. Wireless or wired internet? AV set to suit your telly. Hard disc connected and mounted. With these set up install AutoBouquets or AutoBouquetmaker plugin if you require them. Use these or manually scan sat tuners. Get all your bouquets or favourites in order, or restore from a backup using DB edit or Webif restore, assuming webif plugin is on the bare image. Run crossepg to populate EPG. Check it's config first. Add other plugins as required. COOL guide, Samba server, Oscam, etc. Test each in turn. Try recording, time shift, streaming etc. Bit by bit you'll get there. Family may have left by then but it'll be worth it to your self esteem. Go for it!

Do you have 3player or threeplayer plugin on your image? Not come across this, though I wasn't exactly looking that hard. I've seen it referred to as part of original Vix image plugin OnDemandPlayer, all the players in one place but not seen it for pli hyperion image. I've seen links to threeplayer.py script files, even have one but never tried it out. The amiko e2 firmware thread on boards has a link to 3player.zip but it's dead. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=83784993&postcount=10

    Hi,
The 3Player I was trying was included in the package "onDemand player" on my OpenATV list of available plugins - I don't have any separate 3player.

Anyway, at least now I have a working RTE player.

I've tracked down original 3player plugin, same author and age as rteplayer. The plugin.py file has the same missing bracket. Edited this, runs as far as the menus, hangs then crashes. Crash log varies depending on which menu item you select. TBH there's no blog post history for this since 2013, and back then it was crashing lots. It contains an additional python file named ' BeautifulSoup.py" which is some kind of parser. I think it may be dated, one url called in the code, www.tv3.ie/showall no longer exists. I'll attach the zip anyway, maybe Conor feels like a challenge.

I have a later version (22 Mar 2013 as opposed to your Jan 2013)
might be a better starting point

    Hello all,

I am using fantastic AutoBouquets E2 for 28.2e, does anyone know if there is a equivalent plugin for Astra1 19.2E ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 155 ✭✭jleavy046

Ah don't worry about the TV3 player; I just assumed there was a working copy in the wild. Clearly not any demand for it.

Think I finally have my box working as needed now.

CrossEPG- Has anyone got any issue with the OpenTV provider called "Sky UK OpenTV Astra 2 on 28.2." ?

I've had to deselect this provider and just use the scripts provider called "RAI: download EPG from RAI website" which seems to work perfectly, does this sound right?

RAI is the Italian tv service so I doubt if that's doing anything for you. OpenTV astra 28.2 is the correct setting. What issues are you having with it? If the box is failing to download EPG data check you have two working satellite feeds.

Good aul beautifulsoup. Yes I'm very familiar with that. Thanks for the plugins. I'll boot into the enigma image over the weekend and install the plugin. See if I can do some root cause analysis on the problem.

Scan and use dreamboxedit to create your own bouquets or use it to import a ready made set such as attached.

I've been running PKTeam Hyperion 4.5 on my AA2 for the last 2 years without any major issues, are there any other newer images worth checking out that people would recommend? I'm very capable with this box and have back ups made before I mess about with it, was just wondering if anything newer performs better. Thanks!

I asked the same question a few weeks ago and got recommended Vix4. Well I flashed it and it's amazing
