Still Alison. Wonder when this exciting new plan for the New Year will be unveiled, you know, since Today FM bosses apparently chose not to renew Anton's contract and therefore must have had a plan in place.

Karl Henry to talk about fitness?

I wouldn't let him train my big toe

She'll most likely be there for the rest of the month at this rate of going. You're right, the massive gap for a replacement does show up their spin on Antons exit..

    She's difficult to listen to

I'd say dermot and Daves listenership must be well down

She's not that difficult to listen to, just unsuited to this slot. As loads have said Saturday and Sunday morning with loads of kids in cars going places she's perfect. But an adult dominated audience looking for distractions and smart conversation, she's struggling.

And also to be fair she's doing a very professional job, despite being thrown in at the deep end to fill in a controversial gap. No complaining just got on with it.

But seriously bring back Anton Today FM.

Sure it took about 2 years for #bringbackwill to die down and Leahy had a lot less listeners than Savage:o

People are actually getting annoyed on there now with the lack of response from Today fm. A part of me thinks management are deliberately posting emotional memes to get posters all riled up

I'd be surprised if management are in charge of the Facebook page. It feels like the same person all the time, the tone of the posts had been the same for ages, always the "I'm so tired after my weekend I don't want to work" type

You're right though, the posts are nearly asking for a #bringbackanton comment.

Who exactly are the people in management making decisions at Today Fm? Track record?

I posted this in another thread, might be nothing to it, but part of me feels like the fact Today FM's licence is in the renewal process (latest reports I can find say it was being fast-tracked because no one else applied, but there seems to be no confirmation it has been re-awarded) is part of the reason why these "big changes" have been pushed to this year. There could well be changes in their contract with the BAI which might allow them rejig the format in a more dramatic way.

I believe this will also be the station's 20th year on air, so it's plausible to think that the changes will be rolled out in a birthday celebration fanfare type scenario. It's not inconceivable to think that the status quo might remain in place until the end of February, then two weeks of stand-ins ahead of a big launch on March 17. Remember, they're in the same group as NT who just recently waited a ridiculously long time to do their relaunch after losing Yates.

I agree with you AnthonyCny - am not inclined to change channels at 12..... so the fun has gone from radio!:(

I didn't listen to today fm over the Christmas period and it's sad as I loved todayfm and would always listen to it.

I don't think there was/is a big plan in place like was stated by the today fm top brass. I personally think it was the CEO not liking Anton and just making the call that Friday. Which is petty and also very short sighted because Alison Curtis(who I like) has been put in a very awkward position.

I don't wish bad things to happen to today fm as a station but the top management have made their bed and will now have to lie it in.

I'm the same, why change at 12 only to then change it at 2:30 when they finish.

I hope they make a decision soon. I miss having someone good to listen to during the morning, and Alison doesn't just cut it. Like we all know how proud she is to be a mam, and American, she doesn't have to remind us every five seconds...

Shes Canadian, clearly you don't listen to her :p:p:p:p:p:p

I was hoping that Today FM would spring a nice surprise on us this morning and that Anton would be back where he belongs.
It went from bad to worse today having Alison, then that Muireann one. Shes grand but she has been on the radio all over christmas and i need a break from her!
I listened to Iano, then switched the dial and now back again listening to Matt

Well it will be a completely different show from anything that has gone before in the 9-12 slot...if and its a big IF, they are allowed to do the show they want to! Then it will be a new lunchtime show...remains to be see what that will be...and I would bet on another change to the schedule...would not be surprised to see Cathal Funge get a show somewhere!
