1 month warranty on a 2013 car?!

Hey, so I bought a 2013 Ford Focus a month ago, (and 2 days) after a few days of driving it I started to hear a grinding noise when i'm taking my foot off the clutch, so I brought it back to him and he kept it for 2 days and then gave it back and said the noise is fixed, that it was the breaks. But still the same noise, getting worse by the days, louder and louder. Have sent him messages saying it's 100 per cent the clutch not the breaks, and just been told he didn't hear a noise from the clutch in the 2 days so basically will not be replacing the clutch as he can't hear a noise. But I know for a fact he's lying as everyone who is with me both parents etc can hear the noise, I could hear it for 5 minutes straight when taking foot off, or not hear it for only every hour or two, comes and goes.. Sounds like the release bearing is going!! Also engine management light keeps coming off and on, so brought it back to him and was told 'its a sensor' .. The other day I got a flat tire and brought it to a garage, we got talking me and the mechanic so he put his computer on my car and found 2 problems, 'Diesel particle filter' - soot accumulated and - Catalyst converter too low during regeneration.. Also he heard the noise from clutch and told me it's the release bearing... I only got 1 month warranty with the car and all these problems, the mechanic told me I should bring this to court and also questioned why only a 1 month warranty with such a new car.. Dealer told me it's 'comprehensive' as that's why I only got a 1 month warranty. What can I do as i've given this fuc)er almost 13,000 and have been robbed!!

By law the motor dealer must give you a 3 month warranty.

Can you detail the location of this "dealer"

Is the car on finance?

What kind of dealer was it? No legitimate garage offers a 1 month warranty on a 3 year old car. Do you have a warranty in writing?

I'd park across the business entrance, blocking all access, and going for a chat with the seller.

Might go and pick up a coffee first, after parking the car.

Clutch isn't covered under any warranty what mileage is on it.

Dual mass fly wheel on its last legs.

I guess car was ex rental.

Have everything, all service history etc. Was an English import so they where all done in UK so he says

Just cause only 61k doesn't mean nuts weren't smashed out of it.

You could go in say look need it sorted or that but as said clutch isn't covered unless you can prove it was damaged or completely worn out prior to you buying.

I started hearing the noise 2 days after buying the car , I mean lets be honest here. The dealer knew exactly what was wrong

I would've thought the date you reported the fault would be more relevant than today's date. As in if on the off chance your warranty was actually going to cover anything, the date you report the fault would have been within your warranty period.

I would do a history check on the car and verify the service history.

I remember you now. You don't have much luck with cars.

Buying a 3 year old car from a garage who are only offering a 1 month warranty on it is crazy. If the garage have only that little faith in it then it should trigger alarm bells with a buyer. You also need to verify the service history by contacting the garages that serviced it, not just accepting the word of a car salesperson or a stamped piece of paper as it's very easy to forge them these days.

As for the problems now, I'd say you will have a battle on your hands getting any satisfaction from any establishment that offers such piss poor warranties. My advice is go get some free legal advice from the likes of the National Consumer Agency and Citizens Advice Bureau and see where you stand.

Have done that, nothing suspicious coming up. Only about the tax being out but it's taxed etc now after I bought it

The car hasn't broken down, it's just making a noise. Hard to see how you can expect the garage to fix a noise which they can't hear. In your head it probably sounds worse as time goes by, but it doesn't need fixing if it hasn't broken.

In view of your tyre fitters diagnosis, I'd say there's a good chance it's been clocked though (or not driven as a diesel should)
