Honestly, the fact that it's an Autozam only adds to its value.
For example, if someone owned an Italian 250 GTO would you say the car's classic status is questionable because it started its life in Italy?
Yeah, of course not. That's just stupid.

I decided to get in contact with an ad which had an email like that (to see what they had to say).

Ad for sale by a woman called Hazel, number linked to a woman's Facebook called Alison, and the guy emailing me was called Jeffrey. Car for sale in Killarney but he claimed that he is now living in Belfast & if I was interested then I would have to buy the car first (paying via PayPal), then the car would be delivered to me and I'd have 7 days to request a refund if I was not happy with the car.

    All seems legit :pac:

Seems like someone actually got caught by this scam, spotted this article last night.

It's not even a vtec. Not that I would pay 11k even if it was.

You could get a ticket to Japan, travel for a week, buy three of those...Or two proper VTEC ones, ship them to Ireland, get a flight back and STILL be left with change in your pocket.

The price is very expensive and the car is ordinary enough with that engine but you won't come across many crx's in that kind of condition.

He had another one in similar condition and with similar mileage but with the proper dohc vtec engine and a nicer mettalic grey colour for few k extra. You can see it in the background in shed on some of those pics.

I know you're probably only joking but I'd highly doubt that you would tbh.

I wouldn't think any more than 3-4k at auction?

That actually sounds like a hell of a plan, sign me up.

I'm obviously still bitter over getting peanuts for my SIR CRX when the country went to poop.

You could well be right but would you really get a mint one that cheap over there?

Given the Japanese market and how older cars are very expensive to own and drive I doubt it. It's a crazy price, but it looks to be in immaculate condition. Then again it's a dealer and in the vintage trade end they'll often try a hail mary price to check the state of the market.

All it takes is a couple of a model's examples, even one to reach a silly price at a well known auction house and the market will follow. Look what happened to 205 GTi and Sierra Cosworth prices, never mind Mark 1 and Mark 2 Ford Escorts.

The "money" has moved into that end of the market as the more exotic stuff got too daft in "value" and/or the supply ran out. With few exceptions the Jap stuff hasn't really caught on just yet, or at least to that extent, but it's ripe to do so. Consider this: as JohnBoy26 noted, he has another one only with the VTEC engine and for more money and it looks like that one sold.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

And then double it to get it to Dublin...

You'd land a good example of a sir one for less than the asking of your man's, but the finishing prices of most of the interestinf 90s jap stuff is gone crazy. I put it down to the feckin yanks tbh :(

    €10k for a 88 Mercedes W124..

in its favour it will qualify for vintage tax in a year or so, and its had a good bit of work done to it, but.....

if you're after such a thing, I'd go for the more original look, not oversized wheels, non-standard interior.

Possibly not dreamer of the year, but a dreamer no less (in my eyes)

Missus paid €3k less than that for a same year - low mileage coupe example, from a main dealer, 3.5 years ago.

Good luck selling a convertible TT, in wet & miserable Ireland, in the middle of winter, for that price!

Funny enough right now is a perfect time to buy convertible. Prices are always lower in winter times and you can properly check leaking roofs in **** weather. :)

if that's their winter price I'd hate to see their summer price :pac:

Possibly had a front end tip and repaired too as it has pre facelift grills on, no idea why anyone would go back to those on a facelift car other than to save costs.

Is it? Is it the kidney grille you think looks off? Looks identical to my car, also a 2004, silver, sport, mine is a 525i auto

Agree with the dreamer assessment though, I don't think I would get 2k for mine which is why I'm just going to keep it, pretty sale proof these cars. Just as well I am pretty fond of it
