The question is whether US state and federal institutions and norms will prove strong enough to withstand over at least two, and possibly four, years, the combined contempt and abuse of DJT and the US Republican party.

The current system has lasted almost 250 years so there is hope, but neither have they faced a corrupting, bare-faced, open challenge to decency, honesty, trust, reciprocity and the rule of law like they're going to face from the end of next month.

Decency, honesty, trust, corruption and rule of law aren't the best choice of words to use if you're trying to justify why Hillary Clinton should have won.

You're using DJT's rhetoric against himself? You may as well use a feather duster against a main battle tank.

He reminds me of HL Mencken's description of - was it the late 19th/early 20th century US demagogue William Jennings Bryan? - as being like the Platte River - a mile wide at the mouth and six inches deep.

No mention of the hate crimes the media carried slandering Trump and his supporters that ended up being false in the last couple of days?

    http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/arrest-vote-trump-burning-mississippi-black-church-44330731

So it turns out the person who burned down the Church and painted vote Trump on the side was an African American member of the Church.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/14/nyregion/manhattan-yasmin-seweid-false-hate-crime.html?_r=0

Woman made up the story of 3 Trump supporters pulling her hijab and is being prosecuted

    http://www.fox2detroit.com/news/local-news/224875655-story

Another Muslim Woman claiming a man threatened to set her on fire turned out to be false

    http://patch.com/new-york/gardencity/man-who-drew-swastikas-across-nassau-community-college-arrested-police

Another Muslim drawing swastikas across his college Campus caught

More and more of these are being exposed as fake daily.

    Seriously twisted individuals. Sad!

He's still a grotesque human being though.

I disagree with the HSE but I still use it. If I was going for presidential elections of course I would campaign to win the electoral college not the popular vote. Why would I do something different? Even if I disagreed with the electoral college!

I absolutely love the fact the Trump fans in here don't like it when people talk down to them.

I mean, apparently during the campaign it was perfectly fine to **** all over Hillary voters, but now it happens to them people should stop it :pac:

Get used to it, it's gonna keep happening for the next few years. And if you don't like it, maybe there's safe spaces you can go to.

Trump supporters are the ones on top of the tree.

If he does something to end the carnage in the middle east and the problems seeping into Western civilization instead of funding the terrorists I'll be fairly content. Clearly he's no saint, neither are the vast majority of politicians, they're just better hiding it.

You're not quite following the alt-truth media playbook - it's not "media" but "MSM" and your post would certainly look more authentic with a disparaging reference to something called "the elite" as well or maybe even "political correctness" - come on, get with the program!

Spouting rubbish like that will get a lot of people on your side

He won the electoral college. The only measure that matters. The US is a confederation of states. It will never be changed to a popular vote.

Btw did you have much to say when George Bush won the electoral college but not the popular vote.

Is there a reason that so few comedians are right wingers? What is it about you lot that kills you sense of humour?

Let me break it down for you.

1 Donald Trump lost the popular vote making him minority president elect.

    2 He doesn't like minorities

3 He made up lies about millions voting illegally so that he could tell himself that he won a majority

    4 That's mildly amusing

I'm not arguing with the EC. I've repeated on this thread that he won the game as the rules were set out and said that electors should vote as their state told them.

You had better believe I had something to say when Bush was gifted a win be the supreme court in 2000, but it has no bearing on my joke.

Wonder what has happened to all those women that were accusing Trump of assault.

The lying wenches have gone back into their caves.

Don't know what you're babbling about. If you're using words like honesty and rule of law, trust etc to cite why Trump should have lost the election, I think it's you who needs the wake up call.

Why bother? You're replying to the equivalent of a Bart Simpson prank phone call with that one.

EDIT: I see they've already proved my point for me in the post directly above this.

    @ 45s.

Fox news interview with Ex Haitan Senate President Bernard Sansaricq on how Bill Clinton tried to bribe him and how they ruined Haiti.

Just the tip of the iceberg, luckily there's things like Wikileaks nowadays if you want another 20 examples of corruption.

Nobody on here votes in the US elections.

Also, 'The Donald' doesn't give two ****s about what Irish people think, let alone what his own citizens think. Keep trusting a conman :pac:

It is interesting that whenever Trump puts his foot in his mouth, like doing what his supporters would have called agitating for war when it came to Clinton/Russia with regards to Trump & China, or calling for more nukes, how feverishly his supporters on here try to deflect the subject matter onto anything but what Trump is saying and/or doing.

Predictable as there being 24 hours in a day, but interesting nonetheless.

Well people often flock to their echo chambers when challenged. I'm sure r/TheDonald is a comforting place for people who value feelings over facts.

The original clip about him getting his US visa revoked after rejecting Bill Clinton bribe isn't on youtube anymore. Anyway there's a tonne of clips of Haiti politicians saying the same thing, here's another.

So no, it's not just a man with a sign.

Since you've chosen to ignore the videos I posted on Haiti after taking a cheap jab.

Do you think Hillary Clinton illegally receiving money from Qatar, or being involved in the selling of 20% of US uranium to Russia then receiving Clinton foundation payments in return, or receiving point for point instructions from George Soros for implementing Albanian foreign policies, or ignoring help requests during Benghazi while emailing Sidney Blumenthal to push a foreign policy for monetary gain while running the state department is fact or fiction?

Curious what your opinion is on Trump calling for much more nuclear arms?

Bad. All it does is create tension and force other nations to up their potential arms. It's probably the dumbest thing he's done since he started running. Needs to sort it out.

Cheers for the feedback, though if I recall you also laid out some expectations of his regime a few days after the election (one of maybe 3 posters to do so, despite me asking just about every Trump supporter I could find on boards :p ). We fundamentally disagree on just about anything and everything it seems, but credit to you for having courage in your convictions and for sticking to them.

Cheers. I get why people don't like him. The only thing that annoys me is when people call him corrupt and use that as a justification when they are completely unaware of what went on in the state department while Hillary Clinton was in charge and what Wikileaks revealed.

That isn't a difference of Political opinion, it's just ignorance imo and it drives me mad. :)
