Amazon have launched Prime Video in Ireland but their video offering is such a confusing mess.

I login to my amazon account on the fire stick and see a load of cool stuff, but it seems that I can't watch most of it. They seem to have no concept of only showing you the videos that you can actually watch in Ireland, it appears to be a pure guessing game as to which you can actually view and which you can't.

I go to amazon.co.uk and a load of stuff says "included with your prime membership", but I can't actually watch it.

Crap like this drives me nuts.

I suppose a VPN would sort this, but kinda defeats the purpose if it's aimed at an Irish market

I'll be able to unsubscribe from Virgin for the tv part of my deal with them, and just maintain broadband only. (Saving €20 a month)

Anyone any experience with this stuff?

    Expect some crap like:

    "Tv disconnection charge" €100
"Standalone service charge" €19.50 per month.
    "Change of contract fee" €40
"Fee has increased by 24c per month"
"I'm sorry, your contract was automatically updated when the fee increased, 3 generations of your family have now been sold into slavery".

Getting the new system installed tomorrow. I think my current contract with virgin runs to February.
    So I'll find out then.

(Incidentally new system does have facility for recording, usb stick required.)

Just upgraded to a new package with them due to costs.

A week on and no sign of new box. No television for a week. Broadband still operating off the old Horizon box but 120MB speeds are down to 10MB.

Cooling off period availed of and instructed them to put me back on old package. No problem. But they still haven't restored TV service.

We're renovating the house in a few months. Once that's done, they're being kicked to touch. Shambolic service.

I've never been on one with this crowd before. Apparently he spent 28k on last year's!! Few quid for all the lads, free bar, full sit down meal, all hotel rooms paid for (suites and the works), mini bar covered and then did the same on the 2nd day for anyone that wanted it!! I get hammered on a few pints so my total spend should be somewhere in the region of €17!!

My work pays precisely zero towards a christmas party - it's entirely a self organised and self funded endeavour. Miserly bastards.

Most crowds I've worked with before had an open bar for a few hours. This lad is a head banger. He spent upwards on 40k one year when he took everyone away on a Friday afternoon...they started by going go karting followed by a night on the razz. Got up Saturday morning and he decided another day was in it so they spent another day on the lash (greyhound racing that night and another lash of food and drink)...You'd think that was it but the hardcore group went on another bender on Sunday as well!! His accountant comes as well and keeps telling him to reign it in but to no avail. If you are any way attractive and anywhere near his company you will be drinking for free all night.

*any attractive boardsie ladies if you are reading this and fancy a free night of food and drink please make your way to galway this evening*

*awec please take off your wife's dress...you're fooling no one*

Hit the beer tent in Eyre Square to kick it off. Stay out of O'Connells please, I don't want to be queueing for a drink... ;)

    So it's installed now.
I've spent the last hour testing it out and familiarising myself with it...

    IT'S FOOKING AMAZING!!!!!

€360 in total as they had to put up a dish on my chimney (they could have used a pre-existing dish if I had had one and would have taken €130 off the cost).
Will be €100 a year from now on. (1st year included in the €360).

Every channel available in ireland and UK is on it. (Sky box office stuff is freely available to me too)
    Perfect picture.
Takes about 45 seconds to boot up after I turn on the box...and that's as close to an annoying feature as I could find!!

100% delighted. Looking forward to telling virgin to cancel my tv service.

Our bosses said they couldn't give us a Christmas lunch this year as they had to fly off to the Caribbean.

    Hope they enjoy it.

Lol. Yeah...thought I'd be waiting a while to get sorted but dropped a name of a friend of mine and that sped things up significantly.

    Service provider?
Well lets just say that I asked for a couple of business cards from them as they were heading off, and I was told "oh no we don't have anything like that, we're happy to stay under the radar."

    Cash only too.

I asked at one stage "what's the legal status of this stuff?"
    Answer: "It's a grey area." :)

He went on to tell me that SKY went to court over all this stuff and the court ruled that once the signal was being transmitted by them, it fell on their own shoulders to control who receives it. How true that is I don't know.
I'm living in waterford city btw. Might not be of use to a lot of you lads and lasses but pm me if ye'd like a contact number.
