"Single Mothers" of Ireland and their widespread social welfare fraud

Can anyone tell me how it's so acceptable in this country for mothers to collect thousands of euros a year when they're still living with their partners so openly? It's theft and they seem to have absolutely no shame about it.

When, at the same time, kids with Downs Syndrome are being turned down for medical cards?

Is it as common in other countries like the UK etc?

Have you a link to back up your claim that handicapped children are being denied medical cards?

What are you on about? They get dole like anybody else, with the exception that they're not expected to be out actively seeking a job. ie, they're doing a job already, childminding their own child who has only one parent.

Single mothers are allowed have relationships you know. Just not live with their partners. Those that do are not single mothers defrauding the system, it's a couple defrauding the system.

It's more prevalent in so called working class areas tbh.

And social protection turn a blind eye to it in certain areas. If you are in a middle class area though, Celbridge or Enfield or sandy ford you will have the book thrown at you.

Why do they call them working class areas when unemployment is so high?

I know of a few alright that aren't living with their partners, but partners are completely involved and taking care of the child. For most part, it's mother living with parents, father living with parents, child living with mother and father involved.

I presume you've missed the news that every child who receives dca will now get a medical card?

If you bothered to read the thread, the OP is clearly talking about "single" "mothers" with and "absent" father. They weren't talking about the honest ones.

The OP is talking about "mothers" who are claiming the father is absent and not paying but the father is living with them, working and handing up.

The women are being paid a "lone" parents allowance when they are anything but lone.

They can clain opfp if not living with their partner

Why make the link between kids not getting medical cards and loan parents allowance? Is there evidence to suggest money for loan parents came from this source? Why not say kids don't get medical cards because of TD expenses or funding for the arts or sport?

Can you tell me how it's acceptable for ex-politicians, ex-bankers, etc. to collect huge payments in pensions every month? It's public, taxpayer's money. Is this also a form of theft?

Surely OPFP should be if father is not supporting the child, and not when father is completely involved, they're still in a relationship with each other and (in one case I know) father is earning around 40k a year.

    From Feb last year http://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland/ryan-refused-medical-card-for-a-fourth-time-311275.html

The devastated mother of a toddler with Down syndrome whose application for a medical card has been refused for a fourth time said she believes the HSE has washed its hands of her son because he will cost them too much in the long term.

"Mother was asked by the HSE if her son ‘still had Down syndrome’"

That's just the first half of the first page of Google.

Happy now? Or would you like me to find the mothers of the Down Sydrome kids and interview them for you again?

Handicapped is offensive. If somebody used that term to describe my daughter I would be very offended. It is no longer an acceptable way of describing someone with a disability.

From 2017 all severely disabled children who qualify for Domicilary Care Payment will recieve a medical card. It was part of the last budget

Where is the link between lone parents allowance and children being denied medical cards?
