Or maybe podcasting is the future?

I rarely listen to the radio 'live' anymore and prefer to listen to the podcasts of the parts I'm interested in.

I'd imagine the Second Captains guys are very happy with how they've done since they've left. I can't imagine they were on big money at News talk.

"If we'd only hung in there for another two years we could have been those guys Pat was talking about!"

Well thanks for spoiling the book for me ....

I haven't read it myself! Podcasts have given me all that

Any need to point that out.......

Could easily replace Game On , for a start - 2FM has become irrelevant, so tough poo poo if some of their "stars" lose (see what I did there) their time slots , you could make them part of the Weekend sports team - Well, McDavitt, the other two haven't a chance

Don't see why some rate the guys from Second Captains so highly. I seem to have to skip through half the podcast, on the rare occasion I listen to it, just to skip half the garbage they talk!

You are clearly not a fan! That is why you don't see why others rate it!

I just had a look at it, and for once, Parkinson showed admirable restraint. Hunter is such a cretin.

Doesn't look like something that would make him want to leave though.

He's absolutely insufferable, and isn't interesting or insightful enough to back up the ridiculous ego.

His unshakeable support of Gary Neville took the biscuit and showed him up as a complete spoofer.

I'm surprised Denis O'brien didn't stump up the cash for the GAA coverage, Newstalk seem to think they could offer the GAA peanuts just because they do GAA well?

GameOn isn't terrible, I've started listening recently. No waffling.

The smugness and arrogance of Ger Gilroy has become insufferable.

Isn't he the lad to covers Barcelona Propaganda, sorry, Spanish football? If so, complete Muppet. But, OTB do allow that ego to spread.

I actually like Game On, but it has two major problems:

    1) It's on 2FM.
    2) It's an hour long so they can't do anything in depth.

#1 means I'm unlikely to be listening to the station when the show starts (as much as a I do enjoy Eoghan McDermott), #2 means that if I'm in the modd for sports at that time, I'm more likely to go to OTB because they have more time to chat.

Think it's fair to say Kilbane would have to go down as a success. He's pleasant to listen to, good analyst, has a bit of banter and can chat about items other than football.

I preferred Daniel McDonnell on the football show, but that's just a personal preference - Kilbane is fine.

Dan McDonnell is a very hard act to follow. His knowledge is unparalleled and he doesn't talk sh*t. Kilbane is good though.

It's been said so often now that Kilbane is underrated that he is probably now actually being overrated.

Meh, not as such. A cliche within a cliche!! Amongst certain quarters maybe he is highly valued but in general to a lot of Irish soccer followers KK would barely get a mention when remeniscing.

Isn't he the lad from Louth? One of the few journalists on OTB who knows about the league of Ireland (Stewie is good of course) Yeah, like him.

Credit to Kilbane, he really is trying to go all out on getting to know the Irish football scene as well. He did a better job interviewing Aidan O'Brien after the Arc than Molloy did too

I liked Wholly for the unintentional comedy, but yep, Kilbane is a class act. One of the few new faces to Newstalk that would be universally popular

Andy Lee on the Saturday panel, they just need to have him on weekly, class act.

Pity about that cousin of his, Tyson Fury. :D You would not think that they are related

Personally I don't get the Andy Lee love in here, I find him kind of boring when he's on.

Andy Lee is a cousin of Tyson Fury. Drastic difference in personalities. One is a class act (Lee) the other (Fury)is an idiot, an amusing one and can be likeable at times, but an idiot - later's comments about Barry McGuigan were disgraceful

Edit : Oh I see what you did

Ah he is insightful about the boxing scene to be fair .Suppose people just like and respect him and are willing to listen to him. Maybe they might get fed up after x weeks, but he is worth the effort to tune in when he is on

Funny, everyone seems to have forgotten about Bernard Dunne. I know he is involved with the Dublin GAA but he ain't in the media talking about boxing much. Intended?

Dunne did pundit work for RTE during the Olympics back in August.

I suppose Andy Lee is more current, still an active pro and has recently held a world title.
