Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Really? What exactly have you been told around districts as that would definitely be a buck in the trend if they've given you options already considering they're normally still faffing over this a week before graduation?!

    It's a form which has to be filled out prior to commencing SOPT- order of preference, up to 4 districts. Don't want to go into the specifics, but certain districts are not available.

    Makes sense to get an idea of where officers would ideally want to be placed. Gives them plenty of time to put plans in place.

    Btw where are all your fellow January comrades? I do enjoy reading the intake threads :)

    Interesting...any chance you'd be happier sending me a PM of which aren't available, understand if you're not comfortable with it I'm just curious as to whether my district is on the list from a purely self preservational sense!

    Still waiting on my forms,so I will be interested to see the districts available.
    But I can assume with Cookstown, Armagh and Ballymena to be opened, they are possibilities

    Any word on the residential element of GV? I was talking to Recruitment last week and they said it was "not compulsory"!

    Yep no longer a requirement but if you live far enough away you can still live in for the whole course.

    From what I've read, there is still a 4 week residential but it is no longer compulsory. So It's up to you if you want to participate and "live-in" GV for 4 weeks. After the 4 weeks, those who live in excess of 35 miles and wish to stay up can do so. I think I want to do the 4 week residential. I know it will be tough with a young family but it's all part of the experience is it not?

    Yea I agree, i'd deff still want to go for the residential. I think you'd get to know the other recruits a lot better that way and as you said all part of the package. I understand the changes though and how it would help others though.

    Certainly a lot better than before, might be to stop people dropping out halfway through training if they dont like where theyre posted!

    That would make sense as that was an issue raised during the report. That during student training they never visited an actual working station.

    As long as you do not identify yourself, a colleague, bring the PSNI into disrepute or breach operational security you'll be grand. It is a public forum, I work in care and the social media monster has claimed many of my colleagues jobs because they weren't careful. Just use common sense.

    No doubt the help goes a long way. I too benefited from it back in my early days. But take a break for 6 months. You earned it. Focus everything on GV and then come back when you're on the ground!

    With regards to gym/running gear for GV, anyone any idea if it's still black and white, no large logos etc? Black trainers?

    Yea still black items with small logos I'm not sure if black trainers were applicable but I wouldn't be surprised if they have to be a darker colour.

    Apologies for anything that sounds trivial. I am at ones and twos with all the forms. Did I hear correctly that you only fill out the forms relevant to you? So the travel privileges and f41 along with change of circumstances don't need filled out unless necessary? Any help is appreciated

    sorry to point out the proverbial elephant in the room, is anyone aware of when the first months pay will arrive? just to make preparations and get an idea. because of the start date, are we likely to not get paid until the end of february? i have always been paid weekly so i know very little about how it works monthly never mind my new employers rules and regulations behind it. cheers in advance folks!

    I have no knowledge of PSNI pay schedules but moving from weekly to monthly can be a challenge. I can see first pay being end of February.

    However, for the first four weeks you have free food and shelter so it should soften the blow of the changeover :)

    Good question for those attending the next induction.

    You will be paid at the end of the month. You can apply to finance to have some paid up front if I remember correctly.
