Did i hear him say life for average Cubans is pretty much the same as for Haitians?

Apart from the 17 year difference in average life expectancy.

    Holy sweet jesus.

Ah but did you not know that George was in Haiti and they are all the same:rolleyes:

I've a feeling he is going to be bad today

How come George doesnt have to have balance on "pro-life/ pro choice" discussion. Very one sided to say both sides are pro choice. Does it mean that people against the Pro life side are Pro death?

    Grrr. I swear to jesus.

I know he was in Haiti. He's told us a million times.

Know what he was doing there? Building houses.

Know what every single Cuban is given by the state? A f*cking house.

Go away with your shades of grey and balance. This is George, there is only black and white.

He just showed it when he got criticism there, any critiscism means he isnt allowed to talk about the subject. he goes very childish at times

I haven't heard that Graham tool for quite a while. Forgot what an absolute farce that segment is.

Remarkable. We all know it, but this nonsense of taking one side and defending it in the most offensive way you can really falls on it's face when you realise how shamefully ill informed everyone in the conversation is.

It reminds me of being in primary school when the first gulf war was on.

He has Michael D down to a tee though. It's amazing what ills can be forgiven when you agree with someone's politic ideology.

Michael D should have just said "We're sorry that he died" and left it at that. The rest of the statement had more to do with him being self indulgent than it did about representing the views of the Irish people.

Do Georges researchers just scan the internet for something for George to be outraged about? He started off in Australia, then Britain. Has George ever been outraged about the culture of outrage in modern society?

They do scan the internet alright. See the "these things are trending" filler. Sorry, segment.

Anyway, I'm still laughing at George suggesting the other day, that, in the light of the child abuse in football scandal, people should turn their back on football the same way they did with the church.

    Remarkable, even for him.

of course, if it was rugby i doubt he'd have the same opinion

I do like George, but this show seems like a terrible idea.

Can't get my head around Moncrieff being the one having time cut to make room for this rubbish.

    Just shows one.

I think that Moncreiffe show is the greatest load of piffle and vacuous nonsense ever aired.

Would be glad to see it off the premises.

No great fan of Hook but Moncreiffe is past its sell-by, by a long way in my opinion

You need to listen more carefully. Definitely the sharpest interviewer on Irish radio.

Ok I'll take your point and if I get a chance I will report back.

Never heard him interviewing any one who wasn't flogging something though?

Does that count as "sharp" ?

It's changed over the years, it's a lot more topical these days. You'll always have authors flogging their book though because it doesn't cost anything.

Sorry to harp on a bit, but these sharp interviews, are the in the combative style or just feeding some shiller his/her lines?

That's all I heard him do up to now.

    Has it all changed?

    I quite like Moncrief!

He's not an extraordinarily sharp interviewer- people are mistaking right-on condescension for sharpness- but he's not terrible either.

He's a feminist bootlicker and a dogmatic Leftist but I can still enjoy his show.

I knew there was something about him I didn't like.

Once I got the smell of leftness that was the end.

One of these well paid lefties then eh ?

Kinda Mickie D and Ruadhrie Quinn types.

Nah lad, can't stand those ealānns

Moncrief has a rare quality for radio. He is highly intelligent. He can handle a wide range of views without feeling the need to shout his agenda. Newstalk were mad to shift Hook at the expense of Moncrief.

In almost every interview he does the person comments that he's asked a really interesting question.

    Wow:eek:

If I had a Euron every time I heard that 'excuse to think', I'd be drinking in Temple Bar

"And tell me Mr Gadd, why did you move to Thailand so suddenly'

Yeah, but they actually usually are!

Yeah, but they actually usually are!

Sure sure, go down well in hairdressers salons and such.

I'm sure the auld dolls in getting the " roots" touched up find them interesting.

Some z list jerk shilling a show or book eh .. Yeah some folks find that interesting.. Won't Cliff be sold out next June

    No accounting for people's tastes.

Moncrief said before that writers agents tell them to flatter their interviewers with 'thats a great question'. So he knows the game.
I wonder does he listen to other interviews from other stations of his guests? Or maybe he just does alot of reading to push the topic on a bit. Although at this stage he's interviewed such an eclectic mix that he can refer to current thinking on nearly every topic.

Anyway.. George, Muslims, rugby, how to treat a lady.

I don't frequent them, so I'll have to take your word for it :-)

Edit: last 17 posts should've been in the Moncrieff thread, it seems!

Lookit, you get your hair cut.

All that's needed is background noise lad, the more mundane and tabloid the better.

Bout as 'with it' as 'meat draws ' in boozers.

" Did you hear the news, Kieran won a ham in the draw, that's his second"

" Did you win anything yourself?"

"Yeh, pound of sausages and a kilo of belly pork"

Great, can't wait for next Sunday.
