I enjoyed the John Simpson interview. George was desperately trying to get Simpson to agree with him on anything about Trump, but was resisted at every turn. The only thing he managed was a half-hearted concession that if there was another 9-11 type attack, Trump's reaction to it might boost his approval ratings. That's something to look forward to:rolleyes:.

Basically Simpson thinks Trump is going to be hopeless, which left George sounding very deflated at the end.

George's turn over the past year in relation to Trump has been his undoing. He has presented an image of himself totally removed from reality. As a long term fan it has been deeply uncomfortable and disappointing, I found myself longing for him to resign for his own sake.

Yeah, he was either bullshitting all those years he played democrat to Michael Graham's republican, or he is bullshitting now. Either way, it doesn't leave him with a whole lot of credibility on the matter.

big piece on front page of todays ireland edition of the Times newspaper about HPV vaccine. An estimate of 15,000 people refused the vaccine in 2016 and it is estimated that 40 people will die from the 'misinformation' campaign. Who is Irelands most high profile anti cervical cancer vaccine campaigner? I think it is George. The man truely doesnt give a cr*p, same with his head injuries in rugby. i see he hasnt brought up the vaccine subject in awhile. he also refuses to discuss it with the doctor he has on every week. i know I am lazy but how is it that no one ever complains to BAI about how poorly researched/one sided and presented nearly every topic is. Do peple only ever make official complaints about RTE.

(I realise I am as much of the problem for not submitting a complaint myself)

I cant let it pass but today George was completely unaware of his own hypocrisy.
Over last few weeks, he has being going on about immigrants, and people coming here not integrating into Irish culture. In fact, just yesterday or was it with Michael Graham, he was thrilled about the Dutch putting up posters saying if you dont like the culture and wont integrate, then as George had it "GET OUT"

Jump to today ( Australia day) - and George has suddenly has a miraculous conversion of celebrating visitors and foreigners living in Ireland. "Listeners, text us in name of your favourite Australians". Then interviewing some Australians himself, he was laughing warmly and kindly at the idea that children of a mixed marriage ( Australian/Irish) dont yet feel fully Irish despite living here for years. Simiarly over last few weeks, he hasnt demanded any Americans living here to integrate and abandon their cultures and values since they left States.
Now imagine all of above but replace word Australian with Muslim/Afghan/Syrian, hell, even Mexican, and imagine George repeating all of the above. Not likely.
I just cant digest his self righteous hatred- and yet, somehow i have to listen in and be amazed at his logic/reason and watching him wiggle around Trumps growing list of poor actions.
Was George always this bitter and sour?

George rarely reads out true criticism. He always goes for the ones attacking him. How many times has a text started with "George you old fool" By reading out the ones that attack him personally it takes away from the issue being raised. I have often wondered if these texts are made up, reminds me of Darcys "crying six foot truckers on side of the road"

    Holy f*ck.

Turned on the radio again at 1.30.

The entire conversation since has been about wearing high f*cking heels.

Probably not a popular view here but George has done a decent job turning this show around. I believe I commented earlier in this thread about how unlistenable it was at first. He's cut out the "campaigning" thankfully.

I think he mentioned that management had pretty much told him to cut out the vaccine talk!

There was a perfect storm the other day - Dil guesting on George's show

Dil was on about not using he/she pronouns for children till they could make their own choice to self-identify their gender...

Then, proceeded to talk about her baby using the pronoun 'he'

When George pulled her up on it, she backpedalled furiously - ah well he has already demonstrated strong masculine traits - if he hadn't, I would still be calling him 'they'

    PC gone mad, gone mad....

Shouldn't laugh, but that's very funny!

Never mind P.C. gone mad, listening to that slot would be enough to have me committed to a mental home.

Does the Doctor ever actually work as a doctor? Like is she ever actually unavailable to fill in or guest on NT?

    Headmelter altogether.

Ciara says go to your doctor - that's fine unless you're one of her patients in which case you would be better off taking your chance on a trolley in A&E than trying to get an appointment with her. :D

Shouldn't she have a patronising spot called 'Here come the boys'?

She could have Quinlan and Williams on. :pac:

Quinlan barely shows up for the segments he's scheduled for, can't see him putting in any additional appearances tbh

It's this sort of nonsensical PC bullshit that's partly responsible for the election of Donald Trump as President.

No, it's ignorance of different cultures and social values like this that did

No that wouldn't work. Newstalk couldn't be seen to be doing something positive for men, it would take from their narrative of men as being rapists, thugs and oppressors of women and minorities.
