I'm sure the diesel isn't as good as the petrol engine but this seems to be an incredibly well minded one owner 2005 S-type. If I was in the market for a car I'd certainly be on my way to have look - don't think it will hang around long if it is as described.

.... just noticed NCT out but he says he will put it through before selling.

Pity about the Peugeot tractor engine, but I have to say that looks mint.

Looks like an honest ad to me too. A lot of what the owner says adds up. It is a one owner car. Irish car originally, so it really is a one owner car. NCT was out in June.

The car looks like it is worth many times the asking price and that alone is a compelling reason to buy in my book :)

BTW fixed the light problem that I had with my S-type this morning. The cluster / bulb holder got faulty. Bought a replacement part on eBay for £9.99 plus 48 hour Royal Mail express shipping + Parcel Motel. So just under €25 all in. Problem sorted :)

Have we had this one? Stamped service history, allegedly, and there aren't even many miles on it. NCT till 2018 and its from a dealer so if you were an awkward and persistent kind of person you might say that implies some kind of wanantee. €3999, not much more than the one posted on the last page

I don't think you need to be particularly awkward or persistent to expect that the sale of goods act applies when you buy something from a business

In other words: yes the car comes with a warranty

Look, in no way do I want to defame the vendor in question in any sense of the word at all, but if you're interested in the car have a quick look on solocheck.ie, and don't be surprised if you ring up about a dodgy window reg in a few months time to be told that such and such a garage are no more, and this new garage "Grange Motor Vehicles LTD" are not affiliated in any way to "Grange Car Sales LTD"

Just a bit of mindless speculation; in no way am I intending to cast aspersions on any good seller's name.

In fairness, a window reg would not be covered under warranty anyway, but I get your point.

Whatever about awkward I found that I did have to be persistent to expect the sale of goods act to apply when I bought a used car from a Limerick main dealer. Short of naming the dealer as cannot do that here I'll say they are a main dealer for a well known Korean marque. Had to take the car back numerous times as they were just not fixing the problem and never did. In retrospect I should have rejected the car. Fair to say it wasn't a €2k banger either. I'm sure others here have shared my experience with motor dealers. You shouldn't have to be particularly awkward or persistent but unfortunately you certainly need to be particularly persistent or even awkward at times unkel.

in my experience through my parents even on a brand new car you have to be incredibly persistent to get anything fixed with some main dealers too. There's no such thing as customer service once you've handed over the cash

No mention of timing belt having been replaced so assume an extra grand or so for this. Looks very enticing all the same!

I'd be very tempted if it's still around in January.

That must be just me, but if I would go luxobarge I would cross out all long wheel Base ones.
They look worse, because of stretched mid way car.
I am driving and not sitting in the back, so all toys and extras in a back are useless.
    I am not wedding driver...

Point taken, but excluding the CL500 type barge I'd be the opposite. I want the LWB. I want to notice the size difference between the barge and the E-Class. It's the essence of luxobargonomics - ie a mostly unnecessary unjustifiable extravagance ! I want the occasional adult rear seat passenger to loll about and they usually say 'there's something to be said for a big car. Why aren't all taxis this size. They should make a rule'

Selling due to work circumstances but will take a swap? Am I missing something?

Dont think so - the 4wd jags were the mondeo based ones (x-type)

    +1

The Mondeo is FWD and a Jag is supposed to be a proper car, so it must have RWD. Can't be done of course with the Mondeo, so they made it 4WD, which is a lot cheaper.

am I right in thinking that's pre-vanos and pre plastic coolant pipes? so an actually non-heartbreaking version of the 4.4 litre v8?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,911 ✭✭✭✭ShadowHearth

I am actually temped to buy it, tax it and drive it for a year. Its near me too lol. I bet my insurance wont look kindly to that.

Bargain Beemer. The Old Colonel would want near €10,000 for that!

Conversion to lpg would be a no brainer.

Whats the point of lovely V8, which kills 5 polar bears per mile, then? Last thing I would do to a luxobarge is put LPG. Just peronal opinion.

It was very popular thing back in my country, but I never liked it.

you'd want to be driving that car serious miles to make LPG pay off.

nice car , very , very odd spec

chromeline interior trim - expensive option and rare , xenons and m-sport wheel , yet basic seats, no dsp, no nav/tv (which bmw were giving away for £200 at the time as it was a run out model) no PDC (this was made standard in the UK in 2000 i think, somehow this car escaped that)

    its a very strange one.

That couldn't have popted up at a worst best time... currently car shopping for next barge and considering an a8 but the lure to a v8 e38 is strong...
