Probably closer to being factual than hypothetical ......lets be honest about it, Aldo will pull out of that rematch I'd put good money on it

Think you need to look up the definition of contender.

Aldo is absolutely the next in line for the unification shot, the other contenders can line up behind him in any order you like, they may be contenders, but they are all in a queue headed by Aldo. He has earned that by becoming the Interim Champ.

(I know you didn't say anything to the contrary, just adding my 2c)

"People say ‘go with the flow’ but do you know what goes with the flow? Dead fish."

I know what a contender is, thanks.
Evidently not. There's a difference between No.1 contender and contender. That was the point.
As I said above, Aldo is next due to holding the interim belt, the fact their are other contenders after him doesn't change that. You're arguing a point that nobody Has disputed.

This is exactly what I said. Aldo no.1 contender, Max is another contender lined up after him.
I have no idea how that is a controversial view.

If that happens Aldo keeps it.
There's been a couple of times where the reigning champ defended his belt and the interim champ sat out, or even defended against someone else and passed him the interim belt

I know what a contender is, thanks.

Edgar-Aldo was the decider to see who would fight McGregor. Aldo won. He is the only person in line to fight McGregor at 145 at the moment, barring injury.

    You don't.

Aldo is the clear number one contender. However he is not the only contender for the title.

Plenty of fans knew who Jose Aldo is and knew what he looks like well before Conor. You're confusing real fans with fairweather ones and ones who just jump on a bandwagon.

I doubt too many people knew who Conor was until he got to the UFC and developed his '80s Cartoon Villain gimmick either.

Thing is, those fairweather fans are the difference between a so so number of buys, and record breaking numbers of buys. That means a lot, not least of all to the fighters involved who only have so many in them before its all over.

As for your second bit, when Conor was going off k ball the WWF lads a while back, old man Richard Flair absolutely destroyed him because he was completely right... Sent a tweet or something saying "you're welcome for the gimmick". I wonder how intentional it is, because different setting an generation sure, but it's pretty uncanny at times if you youtube his old interviews.

Didn't Aldo already get offered a rematch after RDA pulled out? The fact that he turned it down based on not being ready shows just how little he wants to fight him again. Don't forget Conor told everyone to stay in shape just in case someone pulls out. Surely aldo, the 10 year long champion would be motivated enough to stay in shape for his career defining fight. Considering Conor was carrying more weight only 2 weeks out from the LW fight meant he would have had less time to cut more weight to make the Aldo fight, but at least he was prepared to do it and try and save the card. Aldo wasn't.

A year and a half build up, a questionable pull out according to the doctors, hearing conor trying to talk trash to a translator for 2 months doesn't appeal to anyone.

It would end up with the same result. Can't argue with the interim goes first argument but at the same time Holloway deserves a shot at Aldo. It would be a huge draw on its own.

There was nothing questionable about Aldo's pull out the first time. He clearly had a bruised rib and wouldn't have been able to cut the weight. Also Aldo/Holloway is in no way shape of form a huge draw.

No, this has been discussed to death. How are people still spouting this?? 1. Aldo was injured. 2. Aldo was asked to fight at 155 with no title on the line.

Khabib gassed from too many interviews :)

Thought Alvarez spoke well on Chaels podcast post fight interview phone call. Was humble and answered all tough questions like an MMA fan about whats in store for next year. I think most ex champs at least claim to be in line for a rematch. He sums up wanting to get back in and take on a top fight to earn back his title shot.
Can't see Conor fighting soon, too many variables, Dee's nerves and Dana's claim that "whatever the Irish man wants next" He's bigger than the sport I reckon, he's earned enough to not have to promote a fight for months. Vacate the belts and take a year off & superfight catch weight @162 pounds vs GSP or Nick Diaz in MSG in Nov would draw more than a card with a few belts. GSP at 36 having taken a few years off and hasnt finished a fight since BJ Penn in Jan 09 sounds like a good matchup to return to the cage. Mcgregor is the only way to justify the 10 million payday GSP is asking for. The exponential rise of top earners since UFC 194 makes 10 million each sound legit. With all the alternative matchups in this thread, I just dont see anyone on McGregors level. Dana rewards finishers as he should do as its fan based organisation rather than a sporting competition. The Kabib/Ferg/Pettis/Aldo/Woodley/Diaz 3 guessing game could be a lengthy one

Almost missed it the first time but if you look closely you can see there's actually another fighter standing right in front of Conor too.

I didn't read the article as it sounded clickbaity.
But was think it made no sense that Woodley said that. Wonderboy makes sense. He wants to keep his title shot.

Khabib is the very last hope for the non believers (the few that are left),

Him being Muslim rules him out of a fight around Ramadan around June and July I think it is.

I think Khabibs English is pretty good. Its a bit broken but he always understands questions fully and can always express himself pretty well. Apparently he said he'll take a fight with Tony first if Conor isn't gonna fight for 6 months and negotiations are already underway. Delicious
