Ha, that it was a female jogged the old memory.

Never posed a question before. Best I can come up with:

How is Pat Clifton better known?

Name one of the two counties that are of particular interest to scientists currently investigating gigantism, on the basis that a famous Irish giant was born in one of them.

I read that as countries, so it threw me for some time.

    Counties! Tyrone?

Hazard a guess at Netherlands? (Dutch being the tallest nation)

Sweden or Norway? Maybe?? Didn't the ruler kidnap tall men? I think the tallest was an Irishman. The ruler was only short too. My memory fails on country and ruler though.

    :D:D:D

Good job my memory is working. Sort of, :D you sadist.

    oh well I will answer.

James Kirkland was the Irish giant in King Frederick (Freidrich? ) of Prussia's regiment.

    EDIT: this is from Wiki:
The Potsdam Giants was the Prussian infantry regiment No 6, composed of taller-than-average soldiers. The regiment was founded in 1675 and dissolved in 1806 after the Prussian defeat against Napoleon. Throughout the reign of the Prussian king Friedrich Wilhelm I of Prussia (1688–1740) the unit was known as the "Potsdamer Riesengarde" ("giant guard of Potsdam") in German, but the Prussian population quickly nicknamed them the Lange Kerls ("long guys").

Colonel Fitzstephen French, of Frenchpark, County Roscommon, instigated what in 1860.

Feargael PM'd me the answer but won't be around to set a question. Prussia it was. The BBC's QI did a piece on them some time back.

As for the Colonel, he's ringing no bells for me at the moment.

Instigated says rebellion to me but I don't recall anything for 1860.
