Marc Gasol does the McGregor strut last night.

Then tweets he'd like to apologize to absolutely nobody!

You mean the Vinny Mac strut.

For Conor's next fight he's gonna drop to 125 and fight Mighty Mouse so he can get that no 1 P4P spot. :pac:

Sound like sports direct ! truthfully ask yourself and i know you will already agree its a sham Miesa gets 88K disclosed and its not unfair Conor gets 3.5 they took away ''some'' fighters other avenues for revenue so are that a contarctor issue or a employee ? cause an employee can join a union and dispute.

Conor is changing the game and ****ing hell id deal with bring back the pain if i know Miesha is getting an extra 200K for allowing sponsors and getting rightfully paid but Conor has othe avenues to make cash and i honestly believe everyone is emulating him now to try and make money. Id invest in a union behind Conor as he has leverage and i dont think Dana gives a **** anymore and he knows he is bolloxed if he even trys mess with conor.

If every fighter was still allowed individual sponsors at this moment in time, who make the best deal ?

The game is the same as it was before McGregor, and it will be the same after he's gone. He's said he wants to retire young. It would be incredibly short-sighted of the UFC to alienate and disenfranchise the rest of their roster for one fighter.

As it is UFC have basically given up on MMA being about competition and putting the best in the division vs the best by allowing McGregor cherry-pick fights that'll make the most money. If one of the other promotions, or a new one got their act together I could see a lot of disgruntled fighters switching and UFC missing out in the long term.

As far as I know it's updated as the scores come in. He could still climb the ranking as more reporters update their scores

So now Eddie won the belt off a guy who were severely dehydrated, passed out unresponsive day before the fight. The shine is gone.

On McGregor's next fight, am I in the minority in that I actually couldn't care less if he and Diaz ever fight again? I'd rather he fights Ferguson or Khabib and to a lesser extent, Aldo, to cement his place at the top. I think these are the only challenges he needs to face at the minute. Then he can look at finishing the trilogy and, if he's silly enough, try for Woodley.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,140 ✭✭✭dashoonage

Khabib or Fergson for me. I have no interest in seeming him fight Aldo to be honest. I think he should be done with FW...so many good fights to make there without him....I think we all want to see Aldo vs Holloway or Aldo vs Petits...

As it is UFC have basically given up on MMA being about competition. Allowing McGregor cherry-pick fights that'll make the most money.

He fought his way up to beat the Featherweight Champion.
RDA pulled out while Conor attempted to beat the Lightweight Champion. He was beaten by the replacement, Diaz, then just went back to prove he could beat Diaz.
Then he defeated Alvarez, the champion.

So Conor is cherry picking the fights by beating the guys who hold the belts? Who would you rather he fought? Fighters that aren't top of their division?

That Kevin Lee guy (@ 6m 22s) sure talks a lot of nonsense.

He's fighting in Belfast. Bet he asks Conor for a selfie.

McGregor should have never been fighting for the lightweight title. 3 fights later and still no defence of the featherweight title. Should be stripped of it 3 months ago. Ridiculous him fighting Diaz for the second time and even more absurd he being the number 1 contender against Alvarez. That's the reality of things and anyone seeing this differently needs a Stockton slap. I'm not a McGregor hater. I find him quite entertaining but that's all he is, entertaining.

It's the UFC giving the majority of the fans what they want. Fans vote with their cash and his fights are the biggest grossing. If the fans didn't want to see him in the big fights then the numbers wouldn't be what they are.

As for defence of the featherweight, how long did Aldo have it without putting it on the line?

As for Alverez, he showed he deserved that fight as he beat him comprehensively.

Depends on your view of things. As far as I'm concerned all fighters are entertainers. Conor is fighting the most entertaining fights. Might only get 3 more years of this history changing entertainment so make the most of it before we return to meh fight cards and boring match ups and fighters not having the bottle to go up or down a weight class

As the FW champ he's entitled to step into an immediate shot.
Same offer was made to many previous champs. Aldo, Pettit, Mighty Mouse, GSP, Silva, Jones, Only Conor and BJ took the offer while imcumbant.
Edgar got an immediate shot at 145.

I dont think it matters who mcgregor "picks" hes the draw. Noone bought that ppv for alvarez. I think his opponent is almost irrelevant

Conor's not going to fight Aldo. He's said already he wants to be sure the opponent with show up.

Poor aul Aldo will be given the belt. But deep down he'll have a sour taste in his mouth and Conor knows it.

In fairness beneath all the showmanship he's also a very very good fighter. Even though he was fast tracked to a lightweight title shot he beat both the featherweight and lightweight champions ridiculously easy in both title fights.

At the end of the day he makes the UFC a ton of money which is why he's given leeway to go after whatever fights he wants. I don't think he ducks anyone. He just wants the fights that will either be for titles or will make the most money.

You're just not getting it, McGregor was not the number 1 for a title shot. He did not deserve that fight just because in the end he beat Alvarez.

How many fights did Aldo have for those 13 months when he was injured? McGregor is active yet refuses to defend it.

Sometimes its not about the fans, it's about the fighters.

Edgar wasn't the number one contender for the fw strap. He got the shot. I'd imagine you were fuming.

How many fighters get a title fight in their first ever fight in a new division?? How many fit and able fighters get to go on a sojourn through another division while holding up the division they hold the belt in??

He was told after Diaz 2 that he had to fight Aldo, they even had an interim fight in that division to see if Aldo was the No1 contender, but he went for the money fight. UFC is more of a circus than a competition. Ferguson is No 1 contender, Khabib is the only undefeated fighter in the division, but JK said that they'd prefer the trilogy fight with Diaz. It's "sports entertainment", being in the money and don't worry about who the number one contender is.

The Aldo line is nonsense. If you're injured you can't fight. McGregor hasn't been injured, he just hasn't been arsed.

If it was anyone else, I would agree. But Aldo seems to be injured conveniently quite a lot.
