Never mind Michael Conlon, look at how Fedor's last fight went!

Overturned afterwards to a draw, which was fair.

If you thought that was bad or a sign of Russian corruption, check out Paddy Pimbeltt's hilarious win over Julian Erosa despite losing 4 rounds from Saturday evening.

The UK, where the promoter is the winners manager and there's no governing body, super legit.

As Rogan also said imagine the money they would have to pay him to fight out in Russia it would be an obscene amount of money, I think his ego will make him want to go KO Khabib soon enough.

There would be something almost Cold War-esque about a Khabib McGregor fight in Russia. Plus how fanatical the Russians are about combat sports would add another layer to the spectacle.

Wonder though about the time difference to Vegas? Moscow is three hours ahead of Dublin which is 8 ahead of Vegas. A 11pm fight in Moscow would be 11am in Vegas which wouldnt be good for PPVs. Unless they flipped it on its head and had the fight at 11am Moscow time, any arena there would easily sell out to the oligarchs and their cronies for huge money, regardless if it was on in the morning. Then the UFC still gets its PPV pound of flesh in mainland US.

Im just putting this out there... but there is zero ****ing chance Conor is going to fight Khabib in Russia.

Sure lets just give him a russian ref and russian judges while we are at it.

Judging is not exactly Kosher there.

I am a bit apprehensive about heading to Russia for football matches. I really wouldnt fancy the trip there for a UFC event.

I am sure trouble would kick off if the mcgregor show was in town

If the UFC go to Russia they'll bring their own refs and judges like they do pretty much everywhere.

Conor won't be fighting Khabib or anyone else though.

It will be Khabib, Tumenov and a few other Ruskies. Maybe Khabib vs Ferguson for a #1 contenders fight while Conor and Nate go at it again.

There would be no need for judges Khabib would be unconscious.

I'd like to see a ferguson vs khabib fight first. Not saying neither of them deserve a shot first but I do think it'd help drum up the hype machine from the casual fans who might not know much about these guys.

Plus it would be an epic fight.

well do you think any Irish fan would travel and feel safe there? considering how the Russians acted in the Euros? not a hope, you'd be guaranteed lives would be lost, they're scummy f00kers over there end of story.

yeah I agree, would be a good way of seeing how khabib handles a good striker, would make perfect sense for them to fight in January say and then the winner has McGregor in summer!!

just hand the 145 belt back, it's worth nowth anyway now. It was cool for the photos that' it.

Does Khabib even have a following in Russia? Being from Dagestan I can't imagine many Russians taking to him.

Yeah, not many Russians would see Dagestanis as 'real Russians', but Khabib can fight so they might claim him, hard to know.

They only do that where there's no local commission (i.e. In Belfast).
If there's a local commission then they set the rules.

The UFC request that their preferred judges and refs are used, which is why Sal D'Amato ends being a judge on almost every card, why big john and herb end up on nearly every card. It would be part of the negotiations for bring the event to the area. they usually have to agree to let a local ref or two on the undercard. like the guy in some backwood city in the mid west a few months ago who was super slow with a stoppage and had only done local semi pro and amateur events before the UFC arrived.

They try bring perfered people, but it's up to locals to approve them.
They had Herb in Melbourne. But he was the only one of the regulars, the rest were locals. Steve Percivil is one of the worst refs in the sport and was reffing a UFC title fight that night.

I'm sure it could be done, but I don't know it it would be worth the hassle.

Conor and khabib in croke park?! Would the Russians act any differently if it was in Ireland?!

I would love to see Conor fighting in Ireland don't mind where. It's just if its on the 02 areana it would be impossible to get a ticket id say!
Why not the aviva stadium if Croke park is so hard to organise

Well yeah probably considering there would be hardly any of them at it.

    Does he though?

He has 112,000 followers on Twitter.

Compare that to Holly Holm, Cowboy Cerrone, Anthony Pettis, Miesha Tate, Jose Aldo - all of whom have between 250,000 to 780,000.

Ok, he has 1.2 million on Instagram. But, again that's behind Holm, Tate, and plenty others.

Interesting facts: Khabib has had 8 fights in the UFC. Only 4 of his fights were on numbered main UFC cards. In all 4 fights (UFC 148, 160, 165, 205) he fought on the Preliminary Card.

So, not only has he never been in a Main Event or Co-Main Event, he has never even been on the Main Card in a numbered UFC event.

I.e. If he truly had a "massive fanbase" and "Russia behind him".... the UFC are not opposed to making more money - they'd have had him on Main Cards.

None of the above has anything to do with his fighting ability but it's easy to see why Conor would want someone with a higher profile.

Of all the viable options there's really only 3 relative "stars" - Those are Nate Diaz, Donald Cerrone and Anthony Pettis. If Conor stays at the lower weights and picks his next fight purely from a monetary perspective, then his next opponent should come from that list. I'm personally hoping Pettis gets an exciting finish against Max and calls out Conor as that'd be a tremendous fight to watch.

Id prefer max, pettis is broken man since RDA mauled him

I'd absolutely love to see Conor kick the **** out of Cerrone at 155 or even 170, cant stand him.

Cerrone has a good chin and he can fight like fack. It would be no easy fight for McGregor but I'd have him favourite.

Honestly I think he proved his mental strength in that last fight. Oliveira had him in some seriously bad situations on the mat. It would have been very easy for him to quit mentally and get strangled by arguably the higher-level black belt. Instead, he toughed out the bad spots and sunk an extremely tight guillotine in.

Now, I'm not sure what affect having his cars burned to the ground will have on him. I honestly can't imagine how frightening that was for his wife and him, having a 2-year old daughter and looking out the window in the middle of the night to see all your cars ablaze, wondering will it start a fire downstairs.

If he can move past that, I personally think he'll out-point Max for the opening round or 2, and land a KO kick when Max starts to chase him.

Given his relatively-high profile in America, if he can get a highlight-reel finish he'll put himself in with a great chance of getting the fight with Conor. Depending on how long Conor is out obviously - the winner of Max v Pettis may have to face Aldo next.

Same guy did one for Nate too, and will do one for each potential match-up.

    Edit: changed to working link
