Remember when Liberals were going apoplectic that Trump may not accept the result of the election and he it was a disgrace to Democracy and America. Now it's okay for a minority to riot and attack police because they didn't get their way. Their hypocrisy never changes. They will never learn. I also see George Soros is funding this, shock horror.
Who's saying it's okay for a minority to riot?

It kind of makes sense that people are protesting, when you think about it. Places are saying that Trump lost the popular vote, but won based on the Electoral College vote.

    Snopes

    Independent.co.uk

    Vox.com

So, you can understand why people are pissed that despite voting for someone else, a different candidate won because of an archaic system that many believe should be removed.
They should have ''fixed'' it BEFORE the vote, too late now, Maybe in 4 years ?

Fewer people voted for trump than mitt Romney if the stars are to be believed. Something like 12 million fewer democrat voters showed up at the polls. I wonder how many of those are protesting now.

It's crazy how on the nose this girl in the Big Brother house is about that -

For the lazy - the Big Brother housemates are likely the last to receive the news about the election results, so when quizzed about who they thought won, one girl said that Trump won, because she figured the majority that supported Clinton would be her generation and that her generation would be less likely to vote.

The change in voter ID law and the closure of 868 polling venues also restricted the opportunity to vote, especially for the less wealthy.

I thought the less wealthy and red-necks were trumps supporters and the well to do intelligent were Hilary ? Also trump supporters were violent and to accept the outcome. meanwhile the intelligent lot do not accept the outcome and riot.

    It's Gas.

Not strictly true. The first time we voted for Lisbon, the second time we voted for Lisbon with some amendments included.

Indeed. I find it amusing how people always bring this up as an affront to democracy when it is one of the better examples of democracy in action.

    Including Donald Trump circa 2012.

Including Donald Trump in 2016, in all fairness. He hasn't changed his mind just because the system worked in his favour this time, still says he thinks a simpler system would be better.

I think they are suggesting that the less wealthy black community in Carolina were unable to vote for Clinton.

Watching the so-called Democrats protesting against a democratic decision because they didn't like the result is bemusing.

The ironic part of all of this is that they're protesting in Blue States.

If they want to make a difference, go down to North Carolina and Protest the KKK's Trump Victory Parade.

Will he be there ? Just like the Black panther celebration when Obama got in ? Obama did not go.

Can you imagine the riots and carnage that would be happening right now if Trump didn't win? Remember all the nonsence about vote fraud and rigged elections? Imagibe the trump supporters all pumped up on indignation about 'vote rigging'!

Trump's supporters would be much more vocal and willing to be disruptive than the rest of the country.

You might not like the protests but they're mild compared to the alternative

Thats mere speculation. The thread is about reality.

Do all countries not re-run elections/referendums until they get the decision that they want? Like we do?

Usually countries with benign, benevolent rulers like the type you'll find in Zimbabwe, Sudan et al.

For all the talk of Trump supporters causing trouble, very little actually turned out to be true unlike the fact it was Clinton supporters (Who are now rioting in the streets) who were paid to start fights at Trump events which has been proven to be true.

Clinton isn't asked anyone to get angry or protest for her post election. If trump lost he would be on the TV more than ever telling people to take their country back. The Clinton supported aent covering themselves in glory but she has for the right thing and thus us tge result. He would have done the very opposite and it could be carnage over there right now.

The eality us that Trump has a track record of whinging, kicking, screaming and moaning when things don't go his way. If he lost, he would not have let it go like Clinton did. That's reality.

Some of her supporters are protesting without her encouragement. Trump would have encouraged protests. His protests would he bigger. I can't be any more realistic than that.

But yeah its all Trumps fault

Yeah? But what about all those racist riots by conservative McCain voters that went down when Obama won? Eh?

    ....Oh yeah, that didn't happen.

You are still speculating. The reality is that its Clinton supporters and anti-Trump people that are protesting. What ifs don't matter.

You imagine that Trump would have encouraged protests...you can't claim to be realistic when dealing with an imaginary situation. The reality is that Clinton's supporters, the liberals and democrats of America, are out 'protesting'. Has Clinton asked the protestors to stop protesting and accept the democratic will of American people? No.

Sure. I'm speculating based on all the information we have on how Trump reacts when he loses. He would have encouraged his supporters to protest like bejesus while he sued like bejesus.

What do you think he would have done if he lost?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,080 ✭✭✭✭Maximus Alexander

The ironing of, on one hand, claiming that people should accept the 'democratic will of the people', whilst on the other hand denouncing them for exercising their right to freedom of assembly. Pot, meet kettle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,305 ✭✭✭✭K-9

Who said anything about accepting it forever? The people voted Trump in for 4 years. After that, everyone can have another chance to vote.

The comments about Hillary winning the popular vote are irrelevant. Everybody (over there, at least) should know how the system works. This time (as it did in 2000) the electoral colleges went against the Democrats. Accept it and try better next time, lads!

Like Trump accepted Obama in 08?
